Weird Gas / Mpg Question!
Lexusfreak replied to brianpavlovic's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
I do notice a difference & will continue to get Sunoco 94 as long as it's "reasonable" in price. My buddy has a 02 Camry V6 LE & he fills up with 94 only about once a month & the rest of the month he uses Sunoco 87 (don't forget that Sunoco uses up to 10% Ethanol in their fuel which burns better & has less sulphur content PPM which is better for your car's performance & it's emissions control devices) without any signs of decreased performance. B) bdonk, I agree with you that the prices shouldn't be so high out in the Guelph area, but Toronto is the largest market in Canada so they have many independent stations that they are trying (the big 4) to knock out of business. That lasted only about two and a half weeks.......things seem to be back to "normal" now however since the price of oil is at new record prices at $45 a barrel! :cries: $.78.9 at several Sunoco stations this morning. -
Excellent sw, same here! :D B)

Why are you selling them?
-
what size rims?
-
Agreed sw! They haven't perfected the run flat yet....they pretty have you between a rock & a hard place too as I don't think the sc comes with a spare run flat or spare tire period does it?

Lexus Dealers And Aftermarket Parts . . .
Lexusfreak replied to bdonkersgoed's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
I don't see why the dealer would refuse any service as long as they are good quality aftermarket parts being used.......they are making money on labour after all. -
What Is Your Lexus Dealer's Shop Rate?
Lexusfreak replied to bdonkersgoed's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
2 Lexus dealers I have used in the Toronto area for warranty work only are $110 per hour & my independent machanic charges $72 an hour. -
Weird Gas / Mpg Question!
Lexusfreak replied to brianpavlovic's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
My 01 owners manual says the same thing you mentioned brian. However I ave noticed quite a bit of difference when using Sunoco ultra 94 compared to regular Sunoco 87 fuel. The idle is not as smooth (smooth enough mind you) when I use the regular gas & the acceleration isn't instant either.....a slight hesitation. I personally notice I get more per tankful with the 94 over the 87 (about 75 - 100 kms more). My rule of thumb is when gas prices are dirt cheap by today's standards anyways (we have an ongoing fight here in the Toronto area where by the big 4 gas companies are trying to put the independents out of business with 65.5 cents a litre gas the last couple weeks) I can get the 94 for the price of regular when it's at it's highest (around the 80 cent mark or there abouts) so I figure why not put the premium stuff in.......if regular is really high & I have no choice but to get gas, I will use the regular. -
How about an All Wheel Drive option? such as the Audi A8L? :o :D ;) perhaps a tad more responsive in the corners (the LS just came in second place to the A8 in a comparo in Motortrends sept 04 issue).

So the air hog offers no advantage over the K & N? And no I'm not trying to "open up a can of worms" by asking that either lol. I'm suprised it's a bit more than the k & n actually.

02-06 Transmission hesitation problems
Lexusfreak replied to amf1932's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
I personally haven't heard any complaints from 02 + Canadian owners about any transmission woe's because of the reasons given for the Canadian regulations. jw, you haven't had any transmission issues with your 2000 have you? My 01 is fantastic & I trust with the proper maintenance it will stay that way. B) -
I've heard they are good for 250,000 miles (K & N has a million mile guarantee - not that most if any will ever get that mileage). How does it compare for cleaning the filter with the K & N brian & what about the cost of the filter?
-
I wonder why the first transmission failed the first time at only 40,000 miles? Is the car still under factory warranty?

They a pretty good tire for a motorcycle steviej?

Actually sk, I was NOT knocking out troops who put their lives on the line to defend our freedom's.......if you read my comments carefully, I was taking shot's at our government! NOT the troops! It's sad that not enough money is spent on proper military equipment (although a whole pile of Mercedes G wagons were purchased by the Canadian military no too long ago so it's a start). I have had family that died for our country as well........my point was our boys & girls in uniform are not properly equipped to handle an attack should it ever happen because our illustrious leaders in Ottawa don't think national defense is a very high priority (we have green combat uniforms in Afganistan for god sakes not the desert outfits we should have!.....is that the troops fault? No! the poor guy's & girls must look like walking trees! ) I take my hat off to those who decide to put themselves in harm's way........but if I ever went, they had better have proper equipment in order to fight the enemy & give me the best chance of coming home alive. I agree with you about our elete forces that are right up there with the green beret's.....however it's such a small amount of troops compared to the rest of the military. Finally, no I never expected Moore to respond to my e-mail, even if he didn't get tens of thousands of responses he still wouldn't have replied....how does one argue with the truth? The point was it would have went ignored anyways.

Not sure what you mean exactly dcfish? Please explain.

Rust Prone Areas On Lexus..making List
Lexusfreak replied to hammer008's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Have you rust-proofed your ES Hammer? If you need one of the best guy's in the business (in the G.T.A.) to do it, let me know.......might want to get the existing rust fixed first. Let me know as I'd be happy to help. B) -
Agreed dcfish! & AMF as I mentioned already, that movie was SO biased it's not even funny, I'd be happy to tape & send you a copy of all the other 9/11 specials I have taped over the last 2 and a half years & you WILL see what I'm talking about (it may not change your mind which is fine, but at least you have BOTH sides of the events that occured at specific times throughout that terrible day so you could imagine what he & the rest of the administration was trying to deal with which was pure ciaos). The 7 minute stuff you mentioned is NOT true either.......what did you expect the President to do exactly when Andy Card wispered in his ear to tell him the second tower was hit in front of a classroom of young school children? Stand up and scream "oh my god! were all going to die! run for your lives"???? & cause an enourmous panic all accross the U.S.? He was in shock (BUT ramained under control as he nodded & his face turned to a look of ANGER as his eyes panelled to the press pool as they were just getting word of what was happening too!) as we all were & for the record, the secret service had to organize (carefully) his departure & he also had to give a brief statement of the events that had occured before he left which he did & was on the phone immeadately after with the national security team to obtain more details......this was even before the Pentagon was attacked! I have e-mailed Michael Moore about MANY VERY important details that he "conveinently" left out of his documentry including quite a few "half truths" some of which I have mentioned here.....I have NOT received a reply.......geez, I wonder why? :chairshot:

It's just re-bottled Mobil conventional oil I'd like to see what special ingredents "Genuine Toyota motor oil" has over the regular Mobil dino stuff. That expression from Toyota SOUNDS important......it isn't :chairshot: It's just a different colour bottle with a different label. One can't try & tell me that Exxon-Mobil would go through all that trouble to "reformulate" a totally different conventional oil specifically for Toyota vehicles & charge the exact same as their regular stuff. If I can quote my favourite Comedian George Carlin here: "It's the packaging & marketing of bull , high quality bull world class designer bull to be sure........hospital tested, clinically proven bull ! but bull nonetheless". ;) :D

92Lex, good luck with your window tint. Post some pics if you can when it's finished. The "limo" tint is a pain for visibility especially in the pitch black of night so just be aware. :)

Agreed! The high price was most likely the main reason why the car remained on the dealers lot. nice, I'm suprised how expensive the "Lexus" extended warranty was! I purchased my ES from a Lexus dealer & they offered the "Lexus" extended warranty for $1,300 Canadian funds! That covers everything for an additional 3 years or 120,000 miles which ever comes first & I have just over 50k miles on her now. It does sound like the car is a "peach" however B)
-
Well said steviej, I couldn't agree more. B)
-
lol sk Do they have a website? I wonder how many different passenger car all season performance tires the have available? B)
-
I agree with sk on the health care we have here in Canada. As far as Canadian politics is concerned were just plain boring! How many Americans watch our politcs compared to Canadians (the whole world really) watches American election coverage? Of the two guy's who want the White house job, Bush is the better of the two hands down.....Kerry wavers too much & his record in the Senate (30 years worth) is proof of that. It's the reason why we re-elected Martin up here (albeit not a majority government) it's the "devil" you know at least! B) This is intresting that Canadians are so opinionated on U.S. politics.......told ya Canadian stuff is boring lol :whistles: It's embarrassing that we were ever attacked, that we couldn't defend ourselves.....the tiny island of Bermuda could take us over if they wanted with 12 soldiers! :whistles: I don't think any leader (including Al Gore at the time as Bush's opponent) could have done as well as Bush did......at least at going after Bin Laden & his cronies. What was Bill Clinton doing (remember that the first World Trade Center attack was on HIS watch, not to mention the USS Cole? ) to fight a terrorist threat with his 8 years in office? (and a Democrat!) Chasing young interns around the Oval Office that's what! :chairshot:

This would be intresting to be sure.......The Cambridge plant has won so many awards I've lost count lol The plant also builds the Corolla, Matrix, & I think even the Solara Convertable. I'd bet money the Canadian plant has fewer problems per 100 vehicles then the Japan plant! ;) B) :whistles:
