  1. Mobil 1 synthetic 5w30 is te way to go & use a top quality oil filter.....just stay away from Fram oil filters, they are garbage. B)
  2. All vehicles in Canada from 1990 have this feature as standard equipment to this day & Canadian studies have shown they have a good track record overall of reducing crashes especially in bad weather conditions. I agree the feature should have a 'cancel' switch to turn it off should one want to but I wouldn't disable the feature totally in case you need it down the road. Just my 2 cents. B)
  3. I have the autolock device that attaches to the brake pedal (strongest part of the car). In addition I have the special key you mentioned & an engine immobilizer. However there is no such thing as completely theft proof car......only a deterant. If the theif want's it that bad, they will get it......but for the most part they don't want to be there long so they usually move on to a more easy target. B)
  4. Nothing available for the 00 & 01 huh? I didn't see anything & WOW! The TRD oil filter is very expensive!!
  5. Perhaps also have a look at an autowrecker or salvage yard.....maybe even ebay. B)
  6. I'd stick with Toyota coolant IMO either the long life (red fluid) or the super long life (pink fluid) just to be safe. But that's just me. Good luck. B)
  7. Well it's possible your shocks/struts might be wearing out. Do you have AVS (adjustable variable suspension)? For some reason, I can't see your pic on my puter either :cries: lol
  8. It's intresting that someone at the dealer would be so careless when removing the window sticker to cause that kind of damage to a Lexus no less! I use to be a car jockey & worked for several dealers in the PDI departments. I had to remove the stickers on all the brand new sold units & never made a mark on any new vehicle from a Neon right up to a STS! it's a shame as it's so easy to take off the stickers with the proper tools.....it's a shame & something you should look into to get the dealer to pay for the window replacement. B)
  9. Every tire maker makes good & well.....not so good tires in their line up to be sure. Michelin has an excellent name & I had them on my 01 Maxima SE (Pilot Sport A/S). However, compared to some other choices depending on the specific model of car, truck or suv on needs tires for, there are actually quite a few better choices over Michelin out there for far less money. An example (broken record eh guy's?) is the Toyo Proxes TPT's vs. the Michelim MXV4's. The Toyo is equal to & better than the Michelin in a number of categories including wet weather traction, snow traction & handling.......for about 30 - 40% less per tire! Exact same treadwear, traction & temperature ratings. Far better value overall. B)
  10. Give Doug at Gem Auto Protection a call Lab, you won't be disappointed & he has a wide range of prices & packages depending on what your looking for. B)
  11. It pretty much sounds like there is no problem hammer. If your check engine light (or any other warning light related to your concern) isn't on & the car is running fine.....I am leaning towards saying you have nothing to worry about. Sometimes the vacuum pressure is fine but the type of weather outside or even temperature has more to do with the sound we hear more so than if there might be something wrong with the gas cap. just my 2 cents. B)
  12. I totally agree steviej! B) I wonder how that Lexus frame might look on a Cashmere beige 01 ES? :) I'll see if a few dealers carry them around here.
  13. I got the same invatation as well sk! No time to go however.....but sounds intresting if we could drive it for a decent amount of time. B)
  14. No hope needed, it will be! ;) Canadian made products are as good (if not better :whistles: ) as any of the G7 nations! :D
  15. I hear the noise on when unscrewing the cap every once in a while but not all the time. Do you or have you had any warning lights come on on your dashboard or notice any change in the way the car drives? B)
  16. A PCV valve & 02 sensore change can do wonders for future emissions tests. Also have a fresh oil change done just before the test & perhaps even premium fuel too. All the little things can help. B)
  17. What replacement fluid will you be using to refill the system?
  18. I'll be using the pink fluid next time I change the coolant in my ES. I have the red 'regular' long life coolant in there now as the pink 'super long life' stuff was not available yet in the parts department on either Toyota or Lexus dealers in Canada near the beginning of this year. B)
  19. Glad we could help! B)
  20. Perhaps an autowrecker or salvage yard might have them for cheap compared to the dealers.....many of them just might be still brand new too. If that fails, try E-bay. B)
  21. What is the exact size tires you will need & I can better suggest a specific tire for you. B)
  22. Very wise choice! & Good luck! B)
  23. What exact tire size do you need for your RX? OF all available, the Yokohama Geolander H/T-S G051 are the best choice all around even over the Michelins & FAR less expensive! B)
  24. The Cambridge, Ontario Toyota plant (Which builds the RX, Toyota Corolla & Matrix) has won MANY awards over the years & that plant was very carfully considered to be the FIRST Lexus model built outside of Japan. There will be NO quality issues when comparing the two plants. B)
  25. Try www.gemautoprotection.com The owners name is Doug & I go to him for all my complete detailing & rust-proofing. Many celeberties & dealers use him as his work is top-shelf & prices are VERY reasonable. I'm heading back there in the fall for another rust-proof & complete detail. His shop is in Mississauga & he had done cars for people like John Candy & Walter Gretzkey. Good Luck! B) Tell him Mr Heys with the beige 2001 ES 300 sent ya! ;)
