  1. Perhaps start with the obvious. 82,000kms is slightly under the average km's a 5 year old car normally as. Perhaps over the years the car has had many 'short trips' & items such as the spark plugs are a bit fouled from (even though they say you can go over 160,000 kms!) not reaching operating temperature or the fuel injectors are gummed up. I got my 01 ES with 72,000 kms but had the Lexus dealer do a complete 'major' tune up on the car before I took delivery with records (and they returned the old spark plugs back to me as well) to prove. Perhaps something simple my do wonders for the sluggish performance of the car. Just my 2 cents B) Keep us posted
  2. I personally have no noticable tire noise with my Toyo's. I keep them at 34 - 35 PSI & they are as quiet as a mime convention. ;) B)
  3. Couldn't have said it better myself stevej! :)
  4. Ford hit a 'grand slam' when they redesigned the Mustang!! Georgous car IMO. :D
  5. E-mail Toyo USA to ask them which Proxes TPT's could you get on your ride to fit correctly in the 'V' speed rating. I've got 205 60 16's (factory size) on my 01 & they look great IMO.......I personally like to stick with the size Lexus has designed & built the car originally. ;)
  6. I agree with the first 2 suggestions but strongly disagree with the last 4 for many reasons. I would also put the Continental Conti Extreme Contact, the Falken Ziex ZE-512's & the Toyo Proxes 4's on your 'short list'. B)
  7. What specifically are you looking for in a tire......such as long tread life, snow traction, wet traction etc & what is the exact tire size your looking for?
  8. I'd go with the new (Pink colour) 'Toyota super long life engine coolant' B)
  9. Can you give us some of the maintenance history on the car?
  10. Go for the Toyo Proxes TPTs ;)
  11. Make sure you have the complete maintenance history as well. B)
  12. Very nice pics Army!! It looks like she's in very good shape B) Intresting choice of words for the thread topic as well lol ;) :whistles:
  13. Agreed! The triple tread is a better rated tire than the comfortreads. You can see it too in the tread patterns. This has to be a 'home run' for GoodYear (so far so good) as they have sunk BIG $$$$$$$$ to invest in a premium all season tire as they weren't even in the ballpark to compete with the likes of Michelin & Toyo for quality. B)
  14. I usually go fairly gently for the first 1,000 miles & try to vary your speeds & stay off the highways for that period if you can.....if you have to use the highway, just do the speed limit & don't hammer the gas. Same with the breaks to give everything a chance to 'seat'. B) Post pics when you can! :)
  15. It sounds like the noise is fairly normal.....a new seal around the sunroof might help a bit but even my 01 ES (and many others between 92 & 01) have the same issue.......does the sunroof leak at all when it rains or any water marks on the inside of the lining? Just keep the shade closed when you don't want to hear the noise......that's what we all do. B)
  16. Post some more pics taken during the day & we can see the car better! Congrats! B)
  17. Go to www.superiortire.ca & call the location at the Markham & Sheppard ......speak to 'Allan' & see if there is something he can do to order from Canada & ship it to you!
  18. Ouch sk! Jim Kenzie of the Toronto Star 'Wheels' section spoke Very higly of them when he drove with them at the Targa Newfoundland! over 2,200 kms of very rough driving.
  19. Keep ua posted will. B)
  20. $8,000 sounds like were in the ball park.....I couldn't locate the car on the auto trader.com website however. Any chance you have service records for the car?
  21. Agreed! $4K is way too much! :)
  22. The Kumho are not a bad choice but I personally have no experence with them. The 2 other choices I would give serious consideration to are the new Toyo Proxes 4's (W speed rating & a 300 AA & A rating) or the Yokohama Avid H4S (if you want to save a little money and are not worried about an H rated tire....they have a treadwear of 500 with a AA traction rating & temp of A). Both other choices are high performance all seasons. Good Luck!
  23. Welcome to the club akas! B) What is the exact size tire you need? Just courious, why are the Kumho's on your 'short list'?
  24. Yes if you use an oil as thick as 5W 50 your gas mileage will decrease slightly but not terribly bad. The Valvoline synpower is good stuff as well......why not try the 5W 50 first, see how it is for an oil change & move to the Valvoline & see for yourself if there is any difference. Are gas prices in Canada are in the .80 - .90+ for a litre for gas so we feel your pain as well...... :( Change the 02 sensor(s) which should improve things nicely & make sure your tire pressure is at the correct settings which ALL should improve your gas mileage. Good Luck! B)
