  1. I would highly recommend not just any 'winter' tire but a 'studless ice & snow' winter tire for the GS. B)
  2. Dedicated winter tires bud, 'snow' tires pretty much are non-existant these days ;) & yes there is a difference. The X-Ice 2 is an excellent choice to be sure.....only thing that bothers me (at least for my application) is the tread depth is only 10.5/32nd's. I like at least 12 - 13 personally.....reports are coming in (even though it's a new product) that they are wearing fast.
  3. I go every 6 months or 8,000 Km's (5,000 miles) for my 2005 ES 330 (synthetic naturally).....I personally think the 3 month, 3,000 mile oil change went the way of the dodo long ago personally.
  4. Happy New Year Josh & to all!
  5. Ok, fist gen IS was a no go.....asking way too much $$$ for the wheels & with the shipping costs was just nuts. But.....after calling my dealer, they confirmed that a set of 17" from a 2008 IS 250 AWD (from a local member) will fit 'plug & play' without any issues even though they are 8" in width, as opposed to 7.5". Also found a pretty good tire/wheel calculator tool here... http://www.wheelsmaster.com/rt_specs.jsp
  6. Might have a lead on a set of 1st generation 2005 IS 17" wheels (5 spoke).....I read SK's wheel fitment guide here but just want to confirm that a set of these will fit 'plug & play' with no issues on my ES? Please advise & thanks.
  7. lol Steve! That was classic & made my evening (but I know exactly what you mean). Thanks for the heads up bud.
  8. I do the 'drain & fill' every 2 years or 30k miles for my 05 ES. I use Amsoil synthetic ATF which is compatible with Toyota Type IV ATF.
  9. I might have an opportunity to get a set of OEM 17" (from a 2008 IS) wheels for the new set of winter tires I recently purchased (215 55 17). They are the same bolt pattern & AKAIK the same offset as my ES 350 wheels, they are just wider.....8" as opposed to 7.5" for my ES wheels. Can anyone confirm that they will fit 'plug & play' without any issues? Thanks in advance.
  10. Those Nokians are decent....but they are not a dedicated winter tire. Some more info here... http://www.apa.ca/template.asp?DocID=297 The ratings for these tires are on a star scale of 1 to 5 (one being the lowest which is what the Nokian WRG2's are rated as unfortunately) for the 2008 - 2009 winter season. Go with a dedicated winter tire is my suggestion.
  11. Merry Christmas to all!
  12. bump for the time of year... ;)

  15. Thanks guys! I'm due to get some new & brighter fogs installed soon.....and the car will be exactly the way I want her. B)
  16. Hey folks, I had an interesting question directed at me last night. Someone at my work wants to build a 'Kit' car as a project.....he would get the frame of the vehicle from an autowrecker to start (the kit car will be an Aston Martin Vanquish on probably a Jaguar XK frame) and he is very serious about this challenge. Can anyone direct me to any sites or places that I can find some detailed info on the subject? Or does anybody here have any first hand knowledge on the subject? I'm looking for specific info relating to the body primarily of the kit. I appreciate the replies!
  17. Thanks everyone! Much appreciated. B)
  18. lol blacktop.....hence my avatar. ;)
  19. $1.20 per litre here (or $4.53 a U.S. gallon, $5.45 for a U.K. gallon). I expect it to go up however consider oil jumped $20+ a barrel today! :chairshot:
  20. Welcome to LOC evan....what size do you need...215 60 16 or 235 45 17?
