  1. Are these just + and - for electrical current? You should just be able to get these from any other cables that can supply the needed electrical current. These might just be needed to power up the amp. Good Luck BTW I have used the factory amp with after market stereos.
  2. Nice first post. If I had to bet you and I would bet seriously. That you are using the button that you press to allow the actuator to lock and unlock the doors. If you are doing that try the same sequence only use the manual lock from inside the car. It is the part that has the red strip on it above the let me out of the car handle. I had this same issue. My door lock actutor was bad... I can hook you up on a repair as well. Thanks, BP You say you can help with a bad actuator? I am interested in getting mine fixed. I can't get my GS into programming mode. I will try your tip and hopefully I can get this working. You think that that remote will program successfully if the door locks cant cycle properly? Thank you
  3. First of all congratulations of your skill, its a great one. I would like to know if you would be willing to do a 1998 GS300. I would be able to drive there from Santa Cruz Ca. I actually visit my g/f back home in Bakersfield so I would not mind the drive and stay in Orange County for a weekend. Let me know. torentine@gmail.com
  4. Do you think this NAV would fit my 1998 GS300? I would be interested. Thank you
  5. Actually the dealer is right. The bulbs inside the radio are most likely burned out. Now you say that you have experience in electronics, I would suggest going to a car stereo shop and getting your stereo professionally removed so that you may open up the unit and replace these bulbs yourself. The cost from the auto stereo shop will be cheaper than getting a new Lexus stereo replaced. Good Luck!
  6. Im thinking about replacing my OEM headlights with Phantom Eyes. Has anybody had a bad experience doing so? such as internal water leaks or moisture? If you have installed these on your GS300 can you post a couple pics? Or does anybody have a pair of original 1998 GS300 headlights set for sale? Mine are yellow, pale and have a lot of moister inside the lenses. It makes my ride look old. Thanks
  7. Ok a while back my 1998 GS300 began to shift weird and then a couple days later the Check Engine came on. I had the car checked to see what the error code was and it turned out it said it was a Shift Solenoid. I did my research and found that the 98 GS300 actually shipped with 2 different transmission's an A341 or an A650. I got the transmission part number off the side of my tranny and called the dealer to ask what that transmission was, I was told by the parts department this was an A341. I said Great!! Since www.rostra.com makes shift solenoids for that particular tranny and they are only about $70.00 for a kit of 2, were Lexus sells each at about $250.00 + a piece. Well I took the new ordered part to a transmissions place to have it installed, once the pan once off they realized that this was not an A341 but rather an A650 tranny thus the part did not fit. The shop offered a diagnostics test were they would remove each solenoid and put electrical current to find the bad one and have it ordered through Lexus, since they are the only who carry these solenoids for the A650. Well the total cost out the door was $699.45 ouch! But the good thing is that my 1998 GS300 is runnng like new again. I do have the shift solenoids for for the A341 transmission in case anybody needs one. I will let it go for $50.00. This will take care of the P0763D check engine code. Thank you
  8. All you guys are hating on the original poster. Post something and respond only if you know what your talking about, don't try to be cocky and try to put the man down as if he didnt know what to drive. Even if his driving skills werent good (which I doubt) he should be able to go faster than 120mph. If he doesnt know how to handle it, he will just run into a wall at a faster speed right?
  9. I finally finished researching the error code on my GS300. The error code was P0763D. The mechanic shop was confused since in their reference guide they only saw 2 shif solenoids. Well it happens to be that there were 2 different types of transmissions shipped with the GS300 in 1998. There was the A650 and the A341. The A650 Transmission has 2 shift solenoids and 2 linear solenoids. The A341 has a total of 7 solenoids. Rostra makes shift solenoids for the A341 but not the A650. Lucky for me I have the A341 in my GS300. I was able to buy the shift solenoids directly from Rostra for $72.58 which was great. This included a kid of 2 solenoids with a braket. Lexus wanted about $250.00 per solenoid and about $1094 to install. The install is rather easy and it can be done with minimum mechanical experience on these cars. The solenoids sit right under the transmission's oil filter and just plug into place. As a reference the part number for the shift solenoids from rostra is 52-9021. Again this is for a shift solenoid kit for A341 GS300 Trasmission to target error code P0763D in the diagnostics computer. Good Luck
  10. Personally I would not do this to my car. I might just look tacky. Remember that when your fog lights are off, the lenses will be white and isnt the yellow look you are after? Also when you turn your fog lights on, the yello bulb will look like a yellow don and you wont get a yellow consistency across.
  11. I bought an uncut key on Ebay, then had it cut and programmed at Lexus. I had no problems with it but keep in mind that buying items on the irternet sometimes are a hit or miss. Good Luck!
  12. You said it vibrates even when its idleling? This sounds like it might be an engine problem. Have you checked the spark plugs and wires?
  13. I have always replaced all my OEM's air filters with K&N filters for two reasons: 1. Better air flow with less air intake constraints which equals more horsepower. 2. Washable which saves you $$$ down the road.
  14. Lexus G300 1998 I have been told by 3 different shops that my car get error code p0763 which means that I need to get Shift Solenoid #3. Has any body had this problem before? How much did it cost to replace? Is this something easy enough I could do? I thank you all in advance for your feedback.
