  1. The ES is a Camry with a plusher look, quieter and softer ride.
  2. Just go to your dealer and ask to shut them off. Some dealers won't do it and some will. Me,I put in Super White 9005 bulbs. Didn't help much but it's not a big deal to me. Also added some 9006 PIAA extreme white to the fogs,MTEC Super Whites to the parking/city lights.
  3. Yeah but to some, who cares? No need for high beams,it'll looks good.
  4. The ES does have a much smoother and quieter ride but it's kind of boring in both interior and exterior looks..
  5. True on the 3 years with the dash rattles with no fix by Lexus. I asked my service manager about the problems with the GS 350 before I bought mine. He said the dash rattles were a problem year affter year. I just went in for a brake pad change to a less dusty pad and told him I don't have any rattles yet. He said you will when the cold weather months arrives.
  6. Just had the low dust pads installed by my dealer last Thurs.Did the same thing when I had my IS. I don't really feel a difference in braking except for the less grabbiness of the new pads.I like the less grabby brakes. Love not having to clean my wheels every 30 or so miles. :D
  7. If Lexus is doing the install, you're paying plenty for the cappuccino, bagels and cream cheese. :P :D
  8. Aerospace Protectant 303 for me. Long lasting non super shiny but matte finish with plenty of UV protection.
  9. It has nothing to do with 'ego'. Premium is recommended by Lexus to have the vehicle run at it's optimum performance and MPG level because of the engine's high compression. You do get less MPGs and performance using regular. You can try to deflect by calling it 'ego' or whatever. Bottom line is you're talking yourself into the car feels the same BS because you want to save a few dollars. Yes,if spending a few dollars is bothering you,why spend $50k for a vehicle?
  10. It's a Lexus. Lexus recommends using Premium. Use premium or buy a Accord or Camry. :D
  11. After talking with a Tire Rack rep,I switched from a tire from the Ultra High Performance A/S catagory (Michelin pilot sport a/s is one) to the Grand Touring A/S catagory on Tire Rack. I want a softer and ouiet ride and that's what a Grand Touring tire will provide. You'll give up some handling but these cars aren't handling cars anyway. If you want handling...get coilovers with a set of Ultra High Performance A/S I went with Bridgestone Turanza with Serenity Technology. In TR tests the Serenity came out a bit better over the Michelin Primacy MXV4 in ride and noise. In fact it was #1 in a 4 tires test in ride and noise. The Michelin Primacy MXV4 came in 2nd. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...irePageLocQty= The Turanza with Serenity came in 2nd with consumers too. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey....jsp?type=GTAS
  12. Picked up a new GS Friday and ordered a set of tires from Tire Rack to replace the RFs on Saturday. Install on Weds.
  13. 790 here and just picked up a loaded '08 GS AWD tonight with that score. :)
  14. Genuine Lexus Platinum Program warranty for 7 yrs / 100,000 miles w/ $0 deductible for $1415.00 7 yr / 75,000 mile plan for $1130.00 on the IS250 AWD. Toyota of Greenfield 12 Olive Street Greenfield, MA 01301 Troy Dietrich (413) 772-0989.
  15. No changing of plans for me as I work from home. I'd rather pay up a high price rather than have to sit in gas lines with gallon limitations like that of the early 70's. I still think gas cost will go up and eventually settle at $4 a gallon.
  16. I'm about to spend $49K out the door of a $52460 list ($750 over invoice and less the trade in of $25K for my IS))for a '08 GS 350 AWD if my dealer can find a loaded Starfire Pearl/Black. I look at it this way. Yes it may be a waste of money but I'm fortunate I can afford it and that's the car I want Enjoy things if you can because life is too short and you're dead for a long, long time.
  17. Part# 04465-53030 are the correct pads. Check your paperwork.
  18. No doubt you have the wrong pads. I had the tsb done and there's 90% less dust.
  19. I have an Escort mounted on the windshield. Texas must be one of the few states in which it is illegal to have a detector, huh? I aam pretty sure NJ is illegal also. tx will Not illegal in NJ. :)
  20. I like my 250 but love the 350 and will special order an '09 350 as soon as I can.
  21. I already have a quote of $1500 over invoice on a special order '09 IS 350.I want Mark Levinson and Lexus doesn't have ML in any northeast delivered IS 350s. I'm sure I can get a '09 ES UL for about $1500-$2000 over invoice. I have at least a dozen Lexus dealers in a 50 mile radius and our family has purchased/leased 5 Lexus vehicles from a local dealer in the last two years or so. I won't buy a '08 in late June to save $1000-$1500.Add in another $1000 lost on the sale or trade of my '06 still doesn't faze me much. The '09 will always be worth more than the '08 for a future sale or trade. So you really don't lose much if anything by paying $2K-$3K more on a '09. There's usually minor changes and improvements on rattles and such with a new model too. I'm probably going to go with a IS 350..
  22. Every time I get a loaner it's an ES.I love the comfortable ride and that Ultra-Lux package but also love the sportiness of the IS. It's a tough decision for me. Buying either a '08 ES 350 or IS 350 now wouldn't make sense to me as the '09s are coming out in Sept and may have some changes, even if minor, still changes here and there. I'm also concerned about the trans flare on the ES and dash rattles on both models.Maybe '09 models will be free of those issues.
  23. After 48 hours of thinking about it,I'm going to pull the plug on the deal. The car won't arrive till probably late June. With the '09s coming out in Sept,to me the '08 would be a left over.I'll wait and get an '09 if I still want an ES. Maybe some light changes here and there on the '09 ES and IS. Though I'm having some second thoughts on an ES. After my 300 mile trip this weekend in my IS,I may consider a IS 350.
  24. My IS I'm trading is Crystal White Pearl (with the popping noise)which is the same or very close to Startfire.Great color but I wish black leather was available like in my IS. Glad to read of no flare problem. rjt65 Thanks. I was also told that the black glass roof can scratch from car washes. I'm to anal to use car washes.I do it all myself.
