  1. CARQUEST stores also have Seafoam part # is SEA SF16 for motor treatment Greg
  2. Hello New York state is one of the easier states to deal with - they charge less than $100 for temp tag for 30 day temp license. Did you read www.carburner.com ??? Make sure you cal your insurance agent = you will need a LETTER from them stating you have insurance for the vehicle -= and you need a pick slip for the car itself to prove insurance. First time is ...well ...interesting ...then afterward you will want to buy a car a month ...:-) Save big ...lets get the Cdn dollar back up just a bit... Greg H
  3. Hello Luxcar ....eh! I just got an LS430 Ultra for my wife - impressive. And the importing is very easy for Lexus into Canada. 1) see www.carburner.com ( found this one day after I imported ...so I updated some data on lewiston bridge ...as you can in a Wiki ) 2) if you buy a car with less than 50,000 miles you can buy an extended warranty - we got the platinum version --it is run by Lexus Financial ( 800-448-1505 ). You can buy up to total of 7 years coverage and 100,000 bumper to bumper warranty ( minus wear items ). The CPO warranty is NOT transferable - that is worth approx $900 back on upgrade to extended warranty 3) forget the air ride -- it is the vibrating reclining heated-cooled rear seats that blow away your friends on the Ultra Here are some things I found helpful --see attachments. I tracked a bunch of cars ( we worked on the 2005-2006 range ) and found the biggest factor was mileage - the $11,000 upgrade for the Ultra doesn't command that much extra for the price. BUT - in the end -- we paid MORE and bought from a Lexus dealer ... but still way less than in Canada. the red line is typical 2005 and the green line is typical 2006 model pricing --some where of questionable title that are way off the value line. If the deal is TOO good to be true - it might just be that. The PDF of the prices is handy to get a feel for the extra items in the models Enjoy your car when you get it ...:-) ..... eh Now - to get that dollar back to 1.10 again ...:-0 Greg 2004_LS_specs___prices.pdf
  4. Hello check out this wiki - a great free resource on how to import cars into Canada -- http://www.carburner.com If you are not sure on wiki' s- google the term and see www.wikipedia.org and look up LEXUS!! Greg ps - CPO is NOT transferable into Canada - but you can trade it in and pay the difference for the Extended Warranty ( up to 7 years & 100,000 miles --sweet) They have three levels - but the platinum is ALL ITEMS except wear items ...so air ride shock systems - covered ... Greg
  5. Thanks They do not show LS430's - I sent them an e-mail ---but it is handy to see difference BUT -- wish you could see the impact of wheels and see the brake caliper and rotors as seen thru the wheel. caliper colours ?? Greg
  6. Can you get the 'extended warranty' over there? I just got an 06 Ultra and added the extended warranty with 'platinum' coverage so it looks after everything except 'wear' items ( so all electronics and air ride are covered for 100,000 miles or 7 years. The radar cruise control is very impressive for someone like me that never had it on a car prior. You didn't say how much you had to pay -- that might seem the issue. You really impress guests who have to ride in the back ....:-) Greg
  7. Good question I called Lexus Financial (800-448-1505) an was quoted the LIST prices --do dealers discount much or often? Might there be some 'forum' vendor dealers who quote new cars etc ...who can quote --one might think any dealer could sell it, no? Does anyone have the web link for the descriptions on Gold vs Platinum coverage? I was quoted for Platinum ( but when I called back on another question the 2nd guy quoted less by 200 bucks or so ) here is lower prices... 6 yr 70,000 1650 7 yr 75,000 2200 5yr 100,000 2000 6yr 100,000 2250 7 yr 100,000 2700 - fully transferable - if sold to private party - Now -- I want to know about moving from Canada to USA & visa versa Regards GregH
  8. I am trying to figure out the prices, as well. The $35k with 20,000 miles seems well under market ( any problems with carfax? or a distressed seller?? ) and the $44k is a 'bit' - but not that much over value. In addition - the price in June should be higher than now--as the 08's where not available then ...with approx 14% depreciation a year --it should happen in some sort of gradual trend from one year to the next (Forbes had an article on best vehicles to hold value - as compared with many Caddy's at 27% depreciation a year Buying from a Lexus dealer comes with a price (and some security) - then there are the options on the car .... for me I am looking for any LS with a Nav unit --so you know it has at least an extra $4000 in options on the car over base. But options don't comand that much extra for total value, from what I have seen. Look at price spread from an Ultra to a base model. I posted this chart of what I have seen so far on the few I have been tracking for 05's and 06's - here -- if of any interest http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=314823 I think it helps us all to have better market data. ps - one side bar -- Cdn's like me will be bidding up some prices in area's near the border - due to stronger Cdn $$ and stupid car prices in Canada that have not yet adjusted to the dollar. Regards Greg H
