  1. I've found that using "Dial by Name" and then just hitting one of the speed dials on the screen is much more efficient. The number is dialed right away. I have a pretty good hit rate for the 6 numbers entered on the first screen. The voice menu system is much more cumbersome than necessary. -Jim.
  2. I just spoke with my salesman. We are going to setup an appointment this week with the dealership's phone expert to go over how to do this. I am a little concerned. He said I need to log into the voicemail through the phone, which sounded like the Lexus navigation pause/wait feature does not work for this purpose. I will let you know what I find out. I do recall a similar answer somewhere on the board. You might try searching for some keywords. I don't recall the poster or details, but remember something about having to physically use the phone for this kind of interaction. -Jim.
  3. I spoke with my salesman about the availability of loaner cars. He said the wait is normally 4-5 days. The dealership has 82 loaners in the inventory. He did not know for sure, but thought there might be a surge in service volume as folks get ready for the winter. Fortunately, this is more of a discretionary appointment, so the delay doesn't matter much to me right now. thanks, Jim.
  4. After reading your posting, I realized I wanted to do the same thing with my office voicemail. My requirements are for an ID and a password. I could not find documentation in the 2007 RX 400h manual on the pause and wait keys, but it appeared straight-forward enough to just plug them in when I wanted a pause or a wait. Unfortunately, I could not get it to work either. The car dialed the base number, but stopped at the pause command. The same happened if I used a wait command instead of pause. I asked my salesman about it. He did not know how they are supposed to work, but was going to refer the question to their specialist. I will let you know what I hear back.
  5. Malvern, PA is a suburb of Philadelphia. I have 2 dealerships nearby, each about 30 minutes drive away from my home. The dealership I bought my RX 400h is Wilkie Lexus. The other is Lexus of Chester Springs. The Chester Springs dealership is new. I think they opened about a year ago. Wilkie has been around for a while. The service perks look great. I had the car in for service for the wipers about 3 weeks ago. They worked me in the same day if I was willing to wait or drop-off the car, but said they could not reproduce the problem with the wipers and didn't fix anything. All together, they spent less than an hour on it from the time I dropped it off to the keys back in my hand; which included a car wash and vacuuming. The car was only a week old and did not need a cleaning. Unfortunately, my previously clean windshield, windows, and sunroof were returned streaked and with soap bubbles on the sunroof. Needless to elaborate further - it was a disappointing experience all around. I thought more effort should have been made to diagnose the problem and was surprised by the 3-week wait for the courtesy car. I'm thinking they might be more successful than planned in sales and need to scale-up the service operation.
  6. I purchased my 2007 RX 400h a month ago. I was told as I went through the purchasing process that Lexus provides a courtesy car when service is needed. I was also told that Lexus drops off the courtesy car at my home, takes my new one in for service, then returns my RX 400h to my home, and takes the courtesy car back to the dealer - all for no extra charge. Unfortunately, I have a problem with the rain sensing wipers. I called for an appointment today (10/24) and was told that a courtesy car appointment was not available until 11/14 if I dropped off my car and picked-up the courtesy car at the dealer; or 11/19 for the home drop-off/pick-up. I was surprised this was 3+ weeks out. Is this normal? I was expecting much faster turnaround. Good thing this is more of a discretionary appointment. I think I can get a much earlier appointment without the courtesy car, but then I give up that great perk. thanks, Jim.
  7. I figured out the missing link in setting up dialing by voice. Thank you for your posts. I had not noticed the "Edit Contact Info" screen contains a page-down arrow which leads to the voice recognition button for recording voice tags. It is covered on page 133 of the navigation manual. I entered several, tested them, and all is well.
  8. Thank you for the information. I was using "Call by Name" as the command. I don't know where I got that command from, but thought for sure I got it from saying "Help". It shows "Dial by Name" now when I do that. The "Dial by Name" command got me to the phone book and prompted for a name. I said, "Holly", but apparently need to setup some voice recordings as nothing was found. I will have to dig into the manual some more to find how to do that. I went back through the navigation manual and could only find a page or two on the entire voice command system. I think Lexus can do a better job documenting their features, as noted in previous posts.
  9. I've had my 2007 RX 400h for 1 week and just filled-up for the first time today. I had 24.6 mpg on the first tank, but that appears to have included some "contributed" miles from the dealer (test drives?) that were on the low side. The rate was going up throughout the week. I'm looking forward to this tank's MPG. I filled-up with Wawa-92 octane. -Jim.
  10. I took delivery of my 2007 RX 400h 1 week ago and love it. One thing I haven't been able to get working is the voice command to dial the phone. Every time I use it, the system comes back with an addition to the map. It's very strange. Here's what I am doing: 1. Press the "Talk" button. 2. I say "Call Holly" or just "Holly" after the beep. I have "Holly" setup in my speed-dial. This happens with any name I use. 3. The system responds by saying ATMs, banks, or other map features have been added to the map. The phone is never dialed. I asked my dealer about it. He suggested not saying "Call Holly". Instead, say just "Holly". No change. Dialing by pressing the speed-dial button works fine. I did not see any phone-related commands in the posted command list, but phone commands appear to be supported when I say "help" to the voice system. Other voice commands work fine. I have an LG/Verizon phone. The system says I have a successful Bluetooth connection. Any ideas? thanks, Jim.
