  1. I had the exact same problem with tration control light coming on periodically. I also felt a vibration in the transmission at around 60 mph. Had the oil flushed in transmission and everything came back to normal (been 1 1/2 year now). $100 can
  2. Cruising at 35 mph, the car was probably on second gear, hitting the pedal, it downshifted to first gear and reved up to 6000rpm, it happened to me also. Now when I want to crank it up while at low speed, I go gradually on the pedal, it all depends on the speed and gear the car is going. Cheers! blue
  3. I finally found my problem; I found a wire bundle in the trunk coming from the front driver side and running under the car jack storage. The wire bundle is dead-ended in a Y and it has a male and a female connector at each end that fits together. I noticed that 2 wires in each connector were the same colour as those going to the passanger side speakers connector, so I measured the resistance across the blue-green wires and I read 3.8 Ohms in one of the connector. I was then 99.5% sure that I simply had to plug them together. I fed power to only those speakers turned the switch to ON, opened the radio and crossed my finger and plugged them together. Yessssssss!!!!! music came out. I now enjoy the full 7 speakers of this great car. Thanks again Tom.
  4. Thanks for your help Tom, The wires I removed are the flat cable with RJ45 computer-like connector between the handset and transceiver, also removed the microphone wire to transceiver. Also unplugged a set of wires (5 or 6) joined by a rectangle connector running from the ex-transceiver to the front, radio? thats all for now. I still didn't find the Speaker Relay maybe that is where the other end of the connector you are telling me about is, I will try to find it. thanks again, blue
  5. Hi all, My car has the Nakamichi premium sound system with 12 disc CD changer and amplifier in the trunk. I checked my sound system in my 1992 SC400 because I had only the rear passenger and the sub that were working. I had to replace the front and rear driver side 4" , they were dead, read over 20 Mega-ohms on my meter. I still have no sound in the passanger door, both tweeter and 4" are good (around 4 ohms each) but nothing is getting there. I did pull out my cell phone+transceiver and I know that these speakers are fed throught the cell phone relay so that the conversation is channelled in those speakers. My 100$ question; Why isn't absolutely no sound coming out of these speakers? Do I have to bypass the cell phone relay and wire them straight out to the speakers?? If this is the case how do I do it??? thanks for any answer, Cheers! blue
  6. Hi all, thanks supermancam, it worked for me , I had a section of my speedometer that had gone dark and after a couple of good wacks on the right upper side it came back on. my climate control is still out, no lights at all yet, might have to take it apart. cheers! Blue
  7. Hi Sam, I don't know if it's the same for 1993 but in my 1992-SC400 book it says this; CODE 14 : NO IGF1 SIGNAL FROM IGNITOR NO.1 - IGNITION CODE 41 : OPEN OR SHORT IN CIRCUIT FOR MORE THAN 0.5 SECOND - THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. If you wish I can email you the 2 complete pdf files for my 1992 manual. Cheers!
  8. Great Stuff jzz30 and it's exactly what i was looking for with the part # as a bonus thank you very much! cheers! Blue
  9. here is one place to get them; http://www.lexus-parts.com/partlist.asp?Su...D=85&ModelID=73 but most experts prefer the rubber OEM copies from Vlamos at; http://www.vftbushes.com/ Cheers! Blue
  10. Hi everyone, My 92-SC400 alternator went out on me and I'm trying to find where I can buy repair parts for it. I took it apart and it is the brushes that are used out, is it a good idea to do this only or should I also change the voltage regulator while I have it on the bench.., (If I do find the parts) Here are the specs; Nippo Denso (IC regulator built in) 12 Volts- 110 Amp. OEM #'s 27060-50040 100211-6410 Thanks for any help, Cheers! Blue
  11. Hi Hershy67, I had my transmission oil flushed (radiator, transmission.. all the oil was flushed and new oil in), my mecanic said it was pretty dark. He checked the tranny supports and said that all is rock solid under there. I haven't had any shuddering yet since (drove only .5 hour). In the troubleshooting section of the repair manual it says that slip or shudder of the transmission can occur if one or more of these parts are faulty; -throttle cable adjustment -transmission control rod -oil strainer -O/D one way clutch -O/D direct clutch -torque converter Alike you, I noticed that the vibration occurs most of the time at low RPM (no kickdown) when it's changing from 2nd to 3rd gear. Hoping this is helpfull in any way. Cheers! Blue
  12. Hi Hershy67, Getting an appointment tomorrow with my tranny expert. I want to have the transmission oil flushed and have the supports checked at the same time. I'll probably have news in a week or 2. I'll be back! Blue!
  13. Thanks for your answers JZZ30 and UCF3 I will have my mecanic check my tranny supports and have it flushed while on the lift. I'll see if it goes away. Had just a slight vibration since yesterday at around 30 MPH. My suspension is in great shape and the height is OK too, the shuddering really seems to occur during acceleration and gear changes. I have also read in this forum that the tork converter might be faulty. First things first, i'll have the transmission support checked, hoping its the cure. :D
  14. Hi all, I bought my 1992-SC400 last fall with 175K/Km on it, 3rd. owner. Lately when I accelerate I feel and hear a vibration as if I was driving on rippled pavement. The vibration comes and goes and seem to occur when the car is cold, (I live in Canada near Ottawa). Am I close to loose my transmission or is it the tork converter that is going??? Other work planned for 2004; -Remove, clean and reseal the headlights -Replace bulbs in the climate control display -Install a good air filter -Paint touchup I'm a electronic tech and know very little about mechanics, thanks for all replies Blue!
  15. Hey Mister Jed, thats a brilliant idea, i do need a new set tires on my newly adopted baby 92SC400, so Yokohama ES100s will it be when the snow has all melted down. thanks for the info! Cheers! Blue
