My check engine light recently came on. The dealership tells me that I need to replace both converters. The diagnostic codes were p0430 and p0420. Do you know where I may be able to find two converters at a reasonable price. I found several sites on the internet but they don't have genuine Lexus converters. Any ideas.

When I press the brake, backing up especially, I hear a loud thump and a cracking sound. This sound is very hard to explain. It is very embarassing however especially when people are around. Any idea what this is and what'sthe cost assoicated with fixing it.

Guys, Can I put halgen lights in my 98 LS400? One of my lights are out and I thought I would upgrade to the new lights? What brand should I purchase and how easy are they to install?

My engine light & VSC light in on. I drove home yesterday and it was off and this morning I started the car and there it was. Is the car safe to drive? I have an appointment at the dealership tomorrow afternoon. So I will have to drive home(from work) and then back to the dealer. Lastly, Can someone please recommend a reliable and trustworthy dealership here in Atlanta. I have had so many bad experiences with two dealerships that I don't want to visit them again. :cries: :cries:

I used carfax to see the maintenance history on my vechile. Unfortunately, I don't remember if it had detailed maintenance information. You can check their URL for details.

On the 98 LS400 there are fog lights in the front. There are also an adjointing side light that doesn't come on. Has anyone noticed that? I am told by the dealer that that light is only used in Europe. It would be cool if they worked. I think it would give the car a different look. Anyone have an idea if a socket is actual behind the panel and if just putting a bulb in it would work. Lastly, I am assuming it is legal to put a light in it here in the state, duh?

I have a 1998 LS400 and I am having problem with my dash light. It goes out from time to time. When driving it goes out. Of course, this means I can't see how fast I'm going (wonder if that's a good excuse for speeding?) When it first started, I would just pull over and turn the engine off/restart it. Sometime it occurs frequently and other times it won't happen for days. The dealer want to charge $800 just to look at it. Any ideas.
