  1. Have used Costco gas in all three Lexus autos (RX300, RX330, LS460) for at least two years and have not experienced any problems. I use Costco gasoline for my LS400 & LS460 without any problem.
  2. Thank you for the info; I lost the owner's manual that why I have to ask here. I'll go to Lexus website and download them; thanks again.
  3. Thank you for the replies; I didn't know about this option; my bad! I did try to push the unlock button few seconds and all windows rolling down and the left & right mirrors fold-in too. I also forget how to set the mirrors fold-in when we turn off the engine; :o Anyone remember? TIA
  4. It is a strange thing happen tonight with my car. I have LS460-2007; tonight after work I went home & parked my car inside the garage. Few minutes ago, I went down to my garage, all 4 windows rolled down, the sunroof open. Only me at home at this time. It happened once before few months ago but at that time I didn't pay attention on it. How can it be when the key car still inside my pocket, house locked, nobody home so no-one can do it. Do I have a ghost at home? I don't know. Anybody has a same thing sometimes?
  5. Here's my $0.02: "A penny saved is a penny earned." I understand your rationale, but I disagree. I can't justify spending almost 3 times as much at a Lexus dealer for the identical service from a Toyota dealer - it would be different if Lexus wasn't Toyota, but they're the same corporate entity. The Lexus "amenities" are nice - Starbucks coffee, USA Today, PC access, HDTV - but since I already had them before I left home, they're worth zip to me. Plus, my Toyota dealer is more convenient, being much closer to my home. The Lexus service might be worth a 25 or 30 percent upcharge, but 267%? Not in today's economy. If Lexus is to survive on their non-warranty service, they need to be more realistic and competitive. I agree with you 100%; buying a Lexus does not means we agree for them to rip-off customers. I pay about $300 for oil change at Lexus dealer of Santa Clara last month. My car has only 16000 miles but I will go to Toyota dealer for oil change next time to save money.
  6. Nothing to worry about, just bring your car to dealer, they will do it for you. Actually, they replace the tube for gasoline tank so you can drive there with (almost) empty gas-tank to get a full tank free hihihi . I did that long time ago for my LS460.
  7. I have the Nav and the Mark Levinson. How do I get music stored on the Hard drive is my question? The same way you store music on your computer. You rip it from the cd. When you put a music cd in the player, there is an option to rip it to the hard drive. Thats the only way to transfer music to the hard drive. You can't transfer mp3 ow wmv files. It has to be ripped from a music cd. I checked with the dealer; they know nothing about how to delete the music in the HDD. Anyone know how? TIA
  8. IMO Lexus should make these features easy re-set by owners instead of dealer!
  9. This is my Lexus which I bought last Sept; however the price is a little bit lower than yours. $75,000 included all documents fee; tax, DMV fee = Out the door :) With the price you said: $71320 + 8.25% tax (for California State) + DMV registration fee + Documents fee should be larger than $75K; isn't it?
  10. Hehehe I did make the test using Nuvi 660C against Lexus Nav. by setting the same destination. I followed the instructions from the Lexus Nav and get the longer way finally I arrived few hundred yard from the destination. Using Garmen 660; I drive axactly the destination point I set without any detour. Oh my God, my previous car was Lexus LS400; that's the reason why I bought this LS460 but LS460 really disappoint me. Copy you, I need to yell too: LEXUS LEXUS LEXUS.... WAKE UP WAKE UP PLEASE AND HEAR WHAT THE USERS SAID......
  11. The hard disk may have a bad sector; since your car still in guaranty; make appointment with dealer to fix it free.
  12. That's the Service Consultant told me! Dear LTP and others. With the new information posted here, I feel I may owe some of you an apology. When I first wrote about what I observed at Taste of Lexus I was very confident in what both my wife and I saw. But now I think I know what it might feel like to be a witness testifying at a trial and the lawyers ask me what I saw. I felt VERY confident that I saw the trunk open and close from the remote. But now that people have said it can be closed by a button in the car and/or the trunk...I could not swear that the other guy standing there did NOT push a button in the trunk. I DO recall some mention of the button, but I never actually saw the button and I my wife and I DON'T recall seeing anyone push it. But, IF a lawyer were to ask me is it possible that the other guy DID push the button without me noticing, YES, it IS possible. I'm sorry if I caused any confusion or misinformation. (Of course, as some have suggested, what's the point of auto close if you already are standing by the trunk to push the button?) With that said, I'd like to throw my 2 cents in regarding the need for a motorized trunk lid. I think most of us can agree that NEED has nothing to do with the concept of using a motor to open OR close a trunk. Since we're actually talking more about luxury and convenience, as long as the remote can open the trunk, and there is an automatic safety reverse if it hits something while closing, there does not appear to be any practical or safety reason why it should not also close the trunk. It doesn't NEED to close by remote, but when all the capability to do it already is built in, why not make that feature available for those who WANT it? Once again, I apologize for any confusion I may have caused. Teach Dear Teach, Please don't feel bad about it. We come here to share our experiences, opinions, and our feelings about our cars and everything could be right or wrong because we are no experts. However, the best in here is: we all try to help each other, and you really do a good job. In my mind, I really appreciate all feedbacks from you and others. Please.....
  13. Well, most of the time when your kids want to get something in the trunk and you feel lazy to walk to outside of the house :chairshot: Hiting the buttom on the trunk (to close it) is samething like you close it by hand; now I question myself: what's the remote for?
  14. How to rip the CD to HDD? All names will be track #1; #2 & so on? Then you stucked by second CD because the track will be same name? I think we should have someway to copy many MP3 at the same time via the cable or something? And how big of the HDD? Is it easy to replace the old HDD with the bigger HDD? TIA There are a couple issues here and I'm sure no expert on MP3, but I have over 900 tracks(songs)loaded on mine by ripping from CDs. All tracks are labelled as you would expect, and Lexus will give you up to 4 complimentary updates per year to the program that assigns the track information. You just copy the CD and it runs it in. Later you can delete complete CDs or individual songs. My drive shows slightly less than 50% full. I usderstand the drive is around 12GB. You can play other formats on discs that are loaded into the changer. I have, for example, one disc that contains about 15 Christmas albums in WMA format and another that contains all of Sinatras Columbia and Capital years which is about 7 or 8 albums. These files will also show the track information as titles and so forth, but you have to be careful how you coad the files from the albums and convert to WMA etc. Some of mine didn't bring the track titles over and show "track 1" Track 2" etc. I am sure it's pilot error because most are correct and all the albums are from the same original sets. I wouldn't worry about the location of the drive as Lexus can dump it to a service drive and reload to a new one if necessary (according to the documentation I've seen) My biggest disappointment with the system is the small sample of tunes it plays in the PM Random mode (whatever PM stands for). I have never heard some of my tracks and keep hearing the same family of 30 or 40 off of a half dozen albums until I manually cancel random, run up a dozen or two albums in the que and restart PM Random. You probably know about the input jack in the center console and whatever it will do. I have no experience with it, but maybe there is a solution for you there. Thank you for your reply; I've checked the console already, there are only 2 jacks, 1 for iPod and 1 for power supply (12v/120v). If the hard disk is only 12GB (?) the map (version 6.1) takes about 8GB then you have only 4GB free? That's the reason why I want to know where they installed the hard disk and any issues if we want to replace by the bigger HDD like 500GB or 750GB then we can load the MP3 or movies?

  16. Anyone here knows how to copy your own MP3 to the hard disk so we can enjoy? BTW, if the hard drive failed, do you know where it is and how to replace it? All instructions and opinions about these issues will be highly appreciated (up)
  17. Same with mine And I have the gold package installed
  18. Thank you Teach; I took my Lexus back from Service Dept. few minutes ago; the trunk still NOT close with remote; the map of navigator still not up to dated - map 2006 for model 2007; the Service consultant told me that they will have the map updated at the end of November or December :( I bought this LS460 Short base (long base doesn't fit in my garage) at Stevens Creek Lexus Dealer - San Jose (California) with 75K out the door (DMV, documents fee & tax included + etc). It was the car at show room; so the saleman gave me free Gold package upgrade. I don't know that price is right for you or not but I've saw the LS460 2008 this morning at dealer with about the same price.
  19. I disagree with you. Compare the Lexus navigator with Garmin, the Garmin works a lot better and also a lot cheaper ($300 vs $3K). We do not expect the navigator of Lexus works perfect but we expect Lexus will buy a better software which is also wrote by the smarter people.
  20. I talked to Service Dept. this afternoon; the tech. there confirmed with me that in model LS460 both 2007 and 2008 can not close the trunk with the remote. Also the map of Navigator still is the map of 2006 and I have to wait untill December so I may have the map updated for my car. :cries: It's so weird huh?
  21. Thank you Teach and others, I will talk to dealer about this issue; Lexus can not treat the customers like that! :chairshot:
  22. I've just bought the LS460 last week and found the button on remote control only open the trunk but can not close it? The Lexus Dealer told me it was designed that way for safety. Is it true? :cries:
