  1. I would try to weld it. Your not out anything and it might last forever, do a good job :)
  2. I have a 450 and I do my own brakes, easy job. I just tighten the caliper bolts really tight, I think mine were 15mm but I cant remember I use a 6 inch C clamp. I havent turned mine yet but I will next time. Not a bad job at all.
  3. Dougjohn, I just notice that my LTX's say p275/70/16 that p is for passenger right? I don't understand why they would make a tire that size in a p. Anyway I need new tires and I just noticed that on my tires, so I thought I would see what you thought. Im going to put LT285/75/16's on now. Should be better.
  4. I have heard that the exaust will make a whistle noise at certain speeds But your problem Might be something different
  5. I see it was you doug, interesting post sounds like BFG's are the most popular. With revos, mtr's and nitto's right up there. Your right the shocks would probably make the most difference. Im due soon for new tires, Im thinking BFG A/T's or the revos in a 285/75/16.
  6. Wasen't trying to grt flamed, and I didn't mean only Revo's I meant that the stock tires are not an LT rating and have a very soft sidewall. for your info Dougjohn2 the site is IH8MUD.com 80's section. I hope that clears up what I said.
  7. I have heard its the tires that make it move side to side. The stock tires are real squishy, try some bridgestone revos everyone one on the landcruiser site uses them, and they says it will stop that sway feeling.
  8. Gas mileage goes down in the winter with that ethenol they add. Also the low oil light comes on when your only a quart low, mine has come on many times its sensetive, but soon as I add oil its gone. I burn around a quart every 2500 miles. Seems ok to me.
  9. Yes you are right I was refering to the wheel bearing pack only. That other job seems very involed. I probobly would never do this unless it needs it, I do keep an eye on the front grease, hopefully this will clue me in if I ever have a problem.
  10. 15.9k doesn't seem bad to me. The front wheel bearing pack that rookie was refering to only cost $300 I do all the other maintanance myself, its fairly easy except wheel bearings. The head gasket problem isn't that common, but I called to see what it would cost they said $1000. Thats not bad either considering the work involved. LX 450 are the best period
  11. To me the LX is all about luxury. The Porsche is more sport.
  12. The fram filters are the worst, you can not compare a K&N with fram. K&N are synthetic filters they filter down much farther than a normal filter. K&N filters are the same filter as a Mobil 1 filter but they welded a 1" nut on the end. Both synthetic. There are two sizes and I have used them both, but I think the larger is better because of capacity, It has more filter paper in it.
  13. Well I tryed that timing thing and it work great. I had to go pretty far but it runs the same but no pinging. Thanks
