  1. Here are the ones I am thinking of, but I am thinking bronze for my car. MrSypher-The size you recommend seems about right. The fronts could be 18 x 8 also, right? Let me know what's up with your hookup on these wheels. ;)
  2. MrSypher- How about the Work Emotion CR-Kai in 18" bronze, 8", 9" and 10" widths?
  3. Sounds like a nice upgrade. can't wait to see it. THANKS MAN!
  4. Can anyone source a Front Strut Brace for the 1st Gen GS 300s? I know a guy that got a used Aristo Brace from EBay, but that is it. Any clues appreciated-sorry if this is old news but I cannot find an answer searching LOC topics to date.
  5. Cool-I have been interested in that intake for a while. What did Injen say about the misaligned bolt hole? Besides the less restrictive filter, what is it claiming to do for you with the stainless pipe? Is there a sensor or something there? How's it sound? Did you go black or colored? Please post a picture when you can.
  6. To clarify, RMM (Rod Millen Motorsport that is) is claiming the total HP gain on the PAIRING of an intake and exhaust upgrade on a GS400. Not sure where the HP measurement is on that-good catch. I can tell you on other cars I've owned, a good intake (airfilter/intake/sensor) and dual exhaust/muffler pairing can make 15-20 HP at the rear on a 200+cid motor running premium fuel. Much more than that is not likely though without other tuning/mods. Here is the link if you want to check into it: http://216.239.57.104/search?q=cache:sXQda...&hl=en&ie=UTF-8
  7. GSspeed- I have looked into getting the UK sport wheels and they can be ordered in the UK, but then you have to get the VAT tax refunded and then shipped here to a local Lexus Dealer. =headache! There is a thread on it in the UK LOC forum. Apparantly they were unavailable in 18 x 10 in the rear fitment for a while, but are back avaialable in the UK. I gave the local dealer the part number from the UK but they couldn't do anything with it. Here are the numbers if you want to take a run at it. PZ439-50670 Front and AM28781 Rear. Maybe we can work a deal with a UK dealer if we order two sets? Let me know if interested. I have seen a few that look similar in US, but trying to get the wider rear fitment is not easy so far. Look at OZ and Enkei. Sometimes they are big $$$. I am leaning toward a simpler race look bronze wheel that is lighter weight (to reduce unsprung weigth). I like 5Zigen FN01R-C and REV. Please keep in touch on wheels, as I am really interested in upgrading from my factory 16s. Here is another wheel I like attached. -BRAKATK
  8. WOW! Thanks for all the ideas everyone. :D I spoke with the GReddy folks (asking about all their systems in general so no bias there) - they confirmed the MX is no where near as loud as the PE system. Another LOC members emailed saying its a bit louder rumble than stock at idle/cruising and gets louder under hard acceleration (like most are). GReddy also confirmed they no longer make the MX cat-back system (since last year), so that must be why the price has dropped so much (under $500), as sellers clear older inventory. RMM claims 12-15 HP gains with their mufflers (not cat-back) and their intakes on the GS 4XX. I'll let you all know what else I find.
  9. I found out there is a L-Tuned catback system that is made by HKS. TRD did not have a specific muffler for the 93, but said others made for later models could work with custom piping (as you suggest). Once again, a couple options to choose and see what happens...
  10. Here are the wheels on the UK Sport Model. They are 18x8 in front and 18x10 in rear. More of a race look than a street look to me (which is good). Several 8-10 spoke models look like these in the US. Hope it gives ideas. Post whatever you get in the garage!
  11. I was unaware that TRD made an exhaust kit for the early GS300's. I was unable to find one in all my searching. Do you guys have a particular model or type you can recommend? Are saying that I should just swap the mufflers? That seems like it will only affect sound mainly, not backpressure so much. I am convinced that this car could run much stronger if it was just programmed a bit more aggressively and could breath some. I will post the results when I'm done- someday soon hopefully. BTW, I added a picture of my intake mod and lowering to the Garage section. Thanks again all! :)
  12. Figured I get some improvement from the intake/exhaust alone. Another LOC guy said the MX kit wasn't that loud(?) After studying the Blitz LM intake, I made my own induction by trimming a stock plastic housing (from salvage for $50), exposing the filter unit, keeping the factory front airduct as a cold air source, and using a K&N filter. The intake can now get air from several front end sources. The car accelerates better and sounds great as the engine winds out. I also reset the ECU by taking out the correct 20A fuse and pumping the brake to eek out the last electricity. The reset helped it run even better (no typical hesitation). I plan to reset the ECU again after the new exhaust is on. I looked into Jet Chips, and they can reprogram the ECM to either 'Stage 1' or 'Stage 2' performance levels (depending on your intake/exhaust, thermostat mods). I did similar mod like this in a Mustang and it really helped HP and Torque through the entire RPM range. Any ideas or suggestions welcome. After all this engine work, I'll be saving for wheels/tires next! Yours are awesome!
  13. I ran across a Jet Chip for my 93 GS300. The process is you send in your factory ECM and they reprogram it. I haven't called yet, but wondered if anyone's heard of them? They want $321.77 for this. ;)
  14. Check out the gallery for some wheel shots. What size/width are you looking at?
  15. I was thinking of a GReddy MX Cat-back kit for my 1993 GS300, but your comments make me wonder if it will be too loud. I care more about getting some added performance to match my new induction, than getting a super loud sound. Somewhat louder is fine. I don't see too much available for the first gen cars. Any recommendations?
  16. Would that apply to just the factory installed KYB's or all shocks? Is there a different size to use if you have lowering springs? To relieve the pressure?
  17. I installed Vogtland 30mm Red Violet Springs on my 93 GS300 and it handles much better in turns and hard braking. The lower stance is clean, and the ride on the hwy is great. Maybe a tad firmer, but not much. I have changed springs on other cars in the past, but I had a good shop do it while they were doing the 90k service. Negotiated a good price for them to change all four springs. Also, consider if there is a problem, you can take it back and have them fix-no charge with a guarantee. If you do it yourself and there is serious problem, all you can look to is the mirror! As far as shocks go, I think firmer springs and softer gas shocks are a good combo for a sportier ride. The stock GS 300 has KYB GR-2 gas shocks, so they are very good shocks and give some firmness. If you go stiffer shocks AND springs, you will feel many more bumps on normal street driving, and may not get that much better handling-as the springs provide this support anyhow. Unless they are damaged, the stock KYBs should last deep into the 100k's in mileage. Just my opinion. Good luck!
  18. My experience on my 93 is that if the rotors are not resurfaced when you have new pads put on, they can squeek when the brakes are first applied. Also, the Toyota OEM pads can squeek-depends on what they use the day you are there. I have ceramic pads on another car that squeeked and it is gone (rotors resurfaced). Rear brakes seem to squeek more than fronts. Pep boys has ceramic pads that fit and are $40 a set. Cheap fix for annoying squeeks. If an upgrade sounds good-get Greens from EBC-they are more expensive but much more grippy and fade resistant. If you need new rotors, consider EBC gold rotors. All this can be installed at home with a little patience and normal tools, or have a garage do it for a couple hundred in labor. Hope this helps!
  19. Can someone give the lowdown on replacing the "bulb" on the fog lamps for 1993 GS 300? Do you have to remove the bottom liner and come up from underneath?
