  1. Hey Neo-This all sounds great! Please PM or whatever so I know the dates, etc. When is the SoCal meet? :D Also, is there a Bay Area or NorCal Lexus Club? If not, should there be? Let me know what's up. Thanks!
  2. There is another thread on this going in the GS Forum, but my experience with Lexol has improved with time and application. My car is a 93 as well and I noticed the leather responds over time. The rear seats have taken less of a beating over the years and clean up the best and quickest. They also have the darker tint in the back and that helps as well. The front passenger seat was next to respond, and the driver (most beat up!), took the longest. Hang in there and let us know if they get better over the next few applications...I'll try to get a pix up after my DC comes back from the shop. :)
  3. Anyone interested in having a Bay Area meet? I live in the East Bay, but am willing to cruise somewhere in the Bay Area for a get together. If anyone is interested in doing something like this, let me know. Also, does anyone know if the Steven's Creek event is happening again in Sept?
  4. Welcome! I am from Orange County originally. I hardly recognize the place when I go to visit/on business. Lot's of nice cars down there though. I am sure the Lex fits right in... B)
  5. 1993 GS 300 with 93k on it. I have a short commute and my other family car takes all the long road trips. Never a problem with the engine/drivetrain yet.
  6. You might want to try it while it is relatively warm but not yet too humid. I am not sure if the increased humidity of N'orlins will help or hinder the process. Seems like it would hinder to me. Good luck.
  7. Is that a special spring compressor for struts? The ones I used on other cars have the threaded shaft in the middle. Are they expensive or can you rent them for a day or two?
  8. It sounds like the leather did not absorb it much. My best experience with Lexol is to leave the conditioner on for longer than they say (>1hr) on a warm day (when the seats have warmed up). This allows the leather more time to absorb it, thus the "takiness" is reduced. Just be sure and wipe them down to get as much unabsorbed product off as possible. Any remaining takiness should go away very quickly.
  9. Your are on. Just need an excuse to go to SoCal. What kind of amp are we talking about. Where is the factory amp located on the 93 GS?
  10. TT619-That new paint job looks liquid! That is one nice '93 you got there! I am still looking for that "clean and simple" front lip. Keep your eyes & ears open my friend! Here is the lip I see attached.
  11. One more reason to wish my car came with the factory upgraded radio/CD. Is there some easy way to maybe add an add'l powered sub or something to give the factory radio a little more kick? I am talking really easy, as I don't want to rewire the world here for my classic rock tastes.... B)
  12. HID is superior light-no argument from me. But if one is only after better/whiter light just using bulbs (which is what the original post was about), then there are several options. The SilverStars on my 93 GS are shown below (Low w/Fogs and then Hi Beam). That said, are Philips the best HID upgrade kit? What others are in the running now?
  13. One thing to also consider is wattage. The Silverstars are similar wattage to stock, while some others (not sure about Nokya) are higher wattages. In comparing lights, also consider on the Gen I GS cars we have a lense over the lowbeam that gives the lights a distinctive "cat-eye" vertical slit as it diffuses the beam over the road. Again, not sure about ES's. The bulbs on the comparison car might not be the same wattage, type, or diffused the same way as the early Lexus cars. Food for thought.
  14. No prob-Be sure to check out the CD thoroughly, as some have found them lacking information. I bought the actual Toyota/Lexus Manuals on Ebay (and they are in perfect new condition) because I like the paper (I thumb through it at night sometimes) and hate incomplete info. Someone on the LOC bought the CD also and said they ran a program on it to create a table of contents or something like that. Was it GuyTelefunken or something like that? Hopefully they will respond and enlighten us. If the CD is as advertized, it should work fine. Let us know how it works out! Good luck!! :D
  15. drunkcarlos-I will assume you are asking me, so no I have not had any problem with the tires hitting the fender. My car is lowered approx 30mm (not too much). I have the offset that fits my car though. Fronts are 38mm and rear are 45mm. These are sometimes called the staggered Supra fitment. Works great on the Gen I GS300's from what I can research. The Falken Azenis ST115's also have a sort of rounded edge, giving maybe another couple mm of clearance (every bit helps I guess). I am very happy with their performance as advertized. For what its worth, I paid 137 and 190 on tires.com with free shipping. I also got the wheels there and had them mount, balance, ride balance, etc. A great value in my book. I know lots of folks run this fitment, so hopefully they will jump in with their experiences. Here are some pics so you can see the fit-I have since added Chrome Lexus center caps to finish the look off. Good luck.
  16. The Gallery link is up in the far right of the top gray box with the American Flag in it on the LOC site. Let's see if I did this right. Thanks guys!
  17. I run the same sizes and the 275 rear tire really gives the car a stable base and very sporty look (especially from the back). Are those Yoko's all-season?
  18. They come up on Ebay periodically. I bought the two volume set recently. Or the dealers sell them for big $$$. Up to you. Welcome to the scene.
  19. Can I ask you guys how you are getting these great looking photos in the posts? I cannot seem to get it to happen on my end and only the small grainy looking ones seem to go as attachments. Thanks in advance...
  20. What's the big difference with the Nakamichi system from the the standard? I have a 93 GS300 with the standard that I added a CD player to a few years ago.
  21. I did the Silver Stars and they work great. They had some 50% rebates going for a while on their site, but they might be over. I agree, do the fog lights, and hi/lo beams all together and see the road in all its glory.
  22. As a fellow 93 owner, I can say its a great body design that looks better all the time. The wheels look like Moda's and look great with the silver car. Good Luck and welcome!
  23. To add on the ContiExtremes, they are a real nice performer for an all-season tire and reasonably priced usually. The tread is aggressive, producing good traction and some noise as well. Here is a picture of the tread.
  24. Do a search on mufflers on the LOC and you'll get a ton of stuff. It seems to all depend on whether a kit fits your car and is that kit worth it or not. Otherwise you could just get the mufflers you want and have a shop hook it up. There are a lot of choices on Ebay as well for mufflers (most are knock-offs though so be careful). Good Luck and post pictures!
