  1. I've got a great site for you. Just plug in your stock tire size and this will calculate the perfect fit for you. http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp -TiM
  2. 2005 ES330 with 215/55R17 Option Rims 42000 miles. 3.3L Motor, Royal Purple Full Synthetic Oil. City 18-22 Highway 25-27 Average 24MPG over a 16000 mile year of driving since I bought it off Ebay. I do a lot of the 'hypermiling' tricks on freeway and coast as much as possible. I find the 'Constant Pedal Pressure' Cruise method the most effective, along with turning Daytime Lights off during the day. My wife however, does none of these tricks and drives mostly in the city (40mph avg). I own a 2007 Camry XLE V6 and the difference in power/fuel economy over the Lexus is substantial. I get 24 City/30 Hwy without even trying. The new 3.5L engine is a stunning achievement.
  3. Apply for a gas card that rebates 5%. If you can catch them at a promotional period, that number is usually much higher the first couple of billing cycles. Yes, this is the best / only way to afford premium fuel. I currently have a SHELL and Phillips Card that I ONLY use for fuel purchases. PAY the STATEMENT BALANCE each month and you never pay a penny in interest. $3.40 - 5% (.17)= $3.23/gallon. When I got both my Shell Card & Phillips Card, the promo was 15% for first 60 days, then 5% thereafter. So far I have saved an aggregate of $385 over two years. -TiM
  4. I think you have to have the trip computer set to TRIP A for the above procedure to work. This is how I reset the 07 ES350's MX light.
  5. Here's another option as generally there isn't much differences in wiring between Toyota/Lexus models. I stumbled upon this the other day... There are several options out there to circumvent the problem, which include: - making a hybrid 5.1 / 6.1 DVD, retaining the older configuration files (very difficult) - building a mock speed sensor generator to replace the VSS connection to the NAV unit (difficult, but can be done for $50 by the author, and as far as I know works on the 2007 Tundra. I am building one for my 2007 Camry, as most likely uses the same wiring harnesses. I don't know if this will work with older models, but you sure can try. THIS VOIDS WARRANTIES!!) Once I get this finished on my new camry, I'm going to try on my 2005 ES330 as well, as I don't like to use the bypass method. Here's the website to the VSS emulator: http://www.pinemountainfirearms.com/pmf/tundramods/ and click the "NAV Speed Pulse Generator" link. I'll keep you posted on my progress on this. -TIM
  6. Most likely you upgraded to the 6.1 firmware, which no longer supports the bypass. 7. Personally I wouldn't work under the hood of modern cars, especially if you can't get a kit specifically designed for your RX. I have done tons of research on big after-market performance kits for my GMC Yukon, and discovered the Remote Mount Turbo Kit from Squires Turbo Systems. This will also cost you a lot of money as they don't specifically build for an RX, but they do have a tailored kit that they can customize for your RX. Look to spend around $5000 for this. The benefits: Minimal under hood and electrical work. No need for aftermarket headers, fuel system, ignition, or exhaust components. Replaces muffler for awesome sound! Low Spool up times, and gives equivelant gains compared to a supercharger @ 5-7 PSI. No need for an intercooler, as the long exhaust tube cools the charge by ~500 degrees. Normally increases gas mileage, and may not even require premium gas. Cons: Turns your RX into a sleeper, meaning noone can tell by looking at your engine that it is anything other than stock, other than that your airbox is nowhere to be found. Look at their website for more convincing info... www.ststurbo.com I bought a ES330 instead and don't drive the Yukon much anymore, which is why I didn't get the kit for my SUV. -TiM ( I do not work for STS, I just really wanted one for my Yukon)
  8. Is that screenshot a picture of the 4th Gen NAV update? My initial screen has the Gold Lexus Logo. Is there any additional functionality or benefit other than updated maps that is associated with updating my 2005 ES330's factory NAV disc? You also mentioned a rear view camera. How can this be integrated into my NAV?
  9. Hi Everyone, this is my first post. Love this forum. Was going to get a 05 Camry to replace my 01, and found an 05 ES330 on Ebay for 20,000. This one was fully loaded with Heated/Cooled Seats, NAV, Mark Levinson, Rain Sensing, etc. Black interior. Had front end damage, but all panels were replaced and factory matched paint. Car drives great, but the ATX is a bit off alignment and you have to make sure it is in gear. I'm sure it is a simple fix. Car has 32000 miles and is still under factory warranty, despite the salvage title. Some of the electrical wasn't hooked up as the wiring harnesses were broken / missing for the horn, fog lights and signal markers. Basically everything attached to the front bumper needed wire work. Most is fixed after a trip to the junk yard, but still need to work on the ATX and horn.
