  1. Thanks for the reply and you know what i think you could be on to something about the heater control valve leaking because it only started leaking in the winter when i had to use the heater. During the summer the level always stayed the same and never moved. Thanks for the advice landar, no need for me to be a worry wort now.
  2. Well today i went out and bought a new battery because i left my car on the other night playing the radio and it died. Wasn't really on that long but i bought and optima red top. It's great and today while i was working on the car it was on and this was for about 45 minutes. Car started right back up. Aside from all that i also received my new MAF sensor with the connector and wires. I cut the old connector off and soldered the new connector to the wires and then slid the casing over it and rapped it in some electrical tape. After i installed the new MAF and the connectors i started the car and for about 30 seconds the check engine light was off and then it came back on. I've replaced cam sensors, O2 sensors, spark plugs and wires, MAF twice. I'm really lost with this car, and it was running the same ol way...Also i noticed the anti-freeze level was low and i added some. I don't know why it was so low, i haven't seen it leaking. I really hope it's not the head gasket. Any ideas on all these problems? I really love this car and have had it for over 3 years...
  3. Pull one of the fuel lines off and crank the car and see if fuel comes out. If not then check the fuel pump relay and also check the EFI fuse. If one of those is bad it'll just die. Also in my ls400 I'm not too sure about this on your car but in the fuse box underneath the dash there is another fuse just for the fuel pump and i remember mine went bad once and my car would cut off instantly. Happened to me at school a while back because the fuse was loose, so i put some pressure on it and managed to get it to stick in there and haven't had any problems since. If you had the timing belt replaced there's no way it could have broken again in that amount of mileage. They usually last 60-90k miles. Good luck.
  4. yeah i had a blown fuse as well and when i finally put the fuse in the brakelights were stuck on. so i was like alright they work i just need to adjust the new sensor and bingo, now i'm legal. ^_^
  5. Well i'd recommend getting the tranny flushed and definitely changing the filter and go from there. It's the most inexpensive thing to do first.
  6. Take it to a qualified shop and get the tranny flushed and see if that helps it any. Make sure you use the proper fluid b/c if you don't you can damage the tranny. Is there a check engine light on? How many miles are on this car?
  7. Thanks alot i'm gonna check this right now before i order a new maf and try to rewire the harness as well.
  8. I've been having similar problems with my ls. where exactly is the fuse located under the hood or under the dash?
  9. So i could do this to my ls400's tach? This would be sick in blue because i'm getting a new pioneer double din headunit and its lights are blue.
  10. I remember when i first got my ls three years ago the people who had it would put regular in it i'm sure b/c the first couple of fill ups it would smoke just like you're saying when you would floor it, but it wouldn't be a trail just like a cloud. It doesnt smoke at all now, and i try to use fuel cleaner whenever possible.
  11. sounds like they didnt use the proper gasket sealing stuff that toyota sells. anytime you replace a gastket you should use some of that stuff. If it was leaking 15k after obviously they didnt do their job right. I would check your fuses and your relays. My buddy had a jeep and his horn got stuck on so he ripped out the horn itself. Little did he know it was still blaring and the relay for the horn which was right next to the fuel pump relay got really hot and heated both of them up and it resulted in fuel pump quitting until it cooled down. They replaced EVERYTHING on that car including the TPS twice. pretty funny that two teenagers outsmarted the dealership. Good luck with your car.
  12. Thanks for the replies guys. Yes i do want to see better at night but i dont wanna get a ticket. I've already gotten a ticket for my exhaust which I still havent changed. I'll ask a fellow officer up at my store they usually chill out at, about it. I think as long as they are angled right with the right lenses they should be fine. I guess my next upgrade will be my headlights. At least the brakelights work now....
  13. Well i was eager to see if this would help and my oh my did this work miracles. my car will spin the *BLEEP* outta the tires now and it takes off soo fast now. It idles alot smoother and the dead spot has disappeared. I unplugged my maf because when i had it plugged in i got about 5 mpg.... without it being plugged in the car has soooo much more power and the gas mileage is much, much better. I think i'm gonna order a maf with a new wiring harness make it a win/win situation and finally get this car fixed!
  14. i have a similar problem when it is very cold outside (i live in jacksonville very cold in fl this year) whenever my car starts it's air to fuel ratio is off. it misfires extremely bad and i cant really drive it until it warms up or else i'll have to drive it extremely slow. i'm going to replace my maf soon and see if that helps. Good luck on your problem
  15. I have a 94 ls400 but is there a big difference between the two? I thought only minor changes were made. In order to run these HID's I'm gonna have to buy a set of eagle eyes first. Are the HIR's worh the price? How long is the life of the bulb? i don't want to have to buy a new set every year.
  16. Check your amp for the speakers. Also check the ground and make sure all the connections are making contact. Make sure there is no crimp or wires exposed. Good luck with your problem.
  17. A rebuilt transmission shouldn't cost that much, i had my transmission rebuilt in my car for 1300. It shifts perfect now, some of the clutch plates were worn down. I highly doubt that this is your problem though. i agree with lexo98 get a tranny flush first and see if that helps.
  18. So unless i get HID's the car's lights wont improve? the stock headlamps are that bad? well i guess that will be my next upgrade for this car because i don't have the best vision at night.
  19. i changed the stoplight switch in my 94 ls400 it was a breeze but you're in a very uncomfortable position. check your fuse for your brakelight illumination because if it blows they will not illumniate. After i fixed my stoplight switch my brakelights still weren't working until i replaced the blown fuse. good luck
  20. Well guys i'm tired of the weak headlights of the first generation ls and i was wondering if i can upgrade to these silverstars or these other brand of headlights. I dont want to get HID's i know they will not work with the stock headlight's, and i dont' want to buy a whole new assembly. TIA
  21. glad you're satisfied with windows 7. This makes me wanna fix my liquid cooled super computer. Yes sata is much better than pata i belive it's around a 160mb/s transfer rate. If you had two identical hard drives and your system supports raid you should consider it. Instead of reading and writing to one hard drive it does it off of both! I had it setup one time and oh man does it make a difference. Glad to hear windows 7 is a big improvement over vista though!
  22. If you can tell me the processor model number and the motherboard number i can tell you if it's a 64-bit or not. Most new computers nowadays are.
  23. since you said you parked it in the sun and it warmed up a bit it could be the circuit board on the tach. my gas gauge won't budge when it's cold here in jacksonville, but during a hot summer day it'll move just fine.
  24. update on my issue guys. i plugged my maf in the morning and damn does the car run smooth and shift perfect. the only problem is it has a bad dead spot at about 1.5k-2k and it wont even go past 3k rpm. i'm thinkin the maf isn't opening properly. the check engine light also went of for about 20 seconds then came back on, and i didn't clear the codes.
  25. have complete silence and press on the switch and see if you can hear the window motor. if you can then the window's off track if not it could be the switch itself or the motor.
