  1. Sounds to me that theres a hole in the air shocks, you can convert them over to a regular suspension, and it costs much less however the ride won't be as nice, but will you'll still enjoy the ride, and won't have to worry about paying lots of $$$$$ for air shocks. When the car's running it'll pump air into the shocks and when it's off the air should hold inside but it sounds like they need to be replaced for sure.
  2. Could possibly be one of the ignition coils, has the radiator been flushed lately? is it leaking anti-freeze from anywhere? It could be running lean, i replaced my fuel filter a month or two ago, and i noticed the car ran much better.
  3. it sounds to me like the gear in the telescopic wheel has come out of alignment. Heres a video you can view that shows you how to fix it, you can also use a bottle cap as well but that requires a little fabrication.
  4. Id check all the connections and cables on the back of the tach because something could've came loose.
  5. I was on lexls the other day i believe they have a diy on the ls430's timing belt you should check it out i think it just got posted. www.lexls.com, i just checked and it leads you to another website but it looks very detailed here's the link.... http://www.shastaanesthesia.com/Lexus/Page1.html
  6. Guess i'll pop the trunk and take a look, I'm wondering if my check engine light is on b/c i removed the cats and the o2 sensors aren't functioning properly with the MAF.
  7. Idle air control valve. So after the car warms up it runs fine and doesn't stutter? If it was the only time it happened the answers above are very plausible but ever since i've owned my ls it's never on a cold start revved up to 2k rpm.
  8. If you're looking to get some more noise out of it just delete the resonator and change the mufflers out, and leave the x pipe, and cats. you shouldn't fail any emissions and you'll be surprised with the sound you get. I've gotta get an x pipe put on my car soon hopefully it'll be a little bit more quiet. Everyone says i've ruined my car by putting headers on it and making it loud but to each his own. Being the youngin' that i am i like my car to sound like it's got some muscle. I know the ls is no race car by any means but it's a great boulevard cruiser and embarrassed some kid in a tiburon tonight on the expressway.
  9. ok guys since i've had my car back it's been great doesn't run perfect but still gets me from point a to point b. i'm thinkin these problems are circulating around wires crossed, or some kind of electrical issue. Whenever i push my gas pedal down and get above 4k rpm the emergency brakelight comes on then dissappears, any ideas?
  10. Hopefully after you replace the alternator the problems will cease. Sounds like like an electrical issue for sure.
  11. my car is right at about 122k miles. My mechanic told me the gas down here is really bad or at least the pumps are. My friend has a jeep with only 70k miles on it and he had to get a new fuel pump b/c some of the newer cars have the fuel filter built in to the pump. It also could be that my gas gauge doesn't work and i rely on my gas light to come on but i usually fill it up after it pops on. I usually go right up the road from my house to the BP, but if my light comes on and i'm out and about i'll use shell or gate. Gas mileage was terrible, my car also ran better without the maf plugged in b/c when it was plugged in it had NO power and i could barely merge onto the expressway. I know my car isn't completely fixed now but it runs alot better with the maf plugged in now and has power again. I'll find out the type of gas mileage i'll get. I haven't reset the codes but when i plugged the maf back in the cel went off and occasionally comes on while i'm driving. I'm probably gonna reset it and drive it for a week then check to see what codes pop up now.
  12. Been a while since my last post. I changed my fuel filter got the wrong one messed up the threads partially. Took it to my mechanic and he was able to fix the threads and apparently the filter's threads weren't the same as the fuel line. Needless to say the car runs AMAZING!!! no more pinging after 5k rpm. The old fuel filter when i pulled it off poured pure black and brown garbage out of it. cheers!
  13. good to hear that its not the head gasket, but i would highly reccommend to get a new timing belt and water pump asap. you dont want to burn her up. probably should change the pulleys because one of them could have a bad bearing.
  14. this wouldn't cause any engine problems would it? My car still has an engine light on for air to fuel rich and air to fuel lean.
  15. my friends always complain about that too. well i guess they'll just have to get a beer hat like that guy hahaha
  16. i agree with eatingupblacktop, i had a bad stoplight switch and a bad fuse. After i replaced both and adjusted the switch properly I've gotten brake lights again. The car will not shift unless it detects the brake lights are functioning properly. the shiftlock release has to be pushed down quite a ways for it work.
  17. I'd check the fuses as well. I had a loose fuse underneath my dash and my car would die when i let off of the gas.
  18. Thanks alot i really appreciate it yes it's a 94. I'm gonna go get some of those copper pins to hold the fuses in place perfectly. I can't have the car dying on me going down the expressway.
  19. gotta be to school on monday please help me out...
  20. I would like to know which one of the fuses is for the fuel pump. My car keeps dying and if i get underneath the dash and give the fuses a tiny push, the car will run. I just don't know which one it is. TIA
  21. I installed a new switch on my 94 ls400 about a month ago. It was a 25 dollar part and took me probably about 15-20 minutes to install.
  22. Yeah i spoke too soon and i totally agree. My 4 12's rattled the rca's out of this amp i got not even a month ago. It sounded so loud and terrible i had to rip the ground out of the amp.
  23. whoever installed that radio had to have mess something up. I have an aftermarket jvc radio in my car and it works just fine. Antenna works everything. Only problems i've ever had with it, is the bass is so loud in my car that it will shake the face plate loose and make all the numbers and letters cross. I would just buy a new head unit and rewire the car for the new head unit. by the way i had to call jvc the other day b/c my radio had all these options like sub w. control and stuff like that. I will say jvc has VERY good customer support. Took me through step by step on how to get it all working.
  24. He's right but never try to draw too much power out of the cigarette lighter. That fuse blew so that it didn't cause any harm to the electrical system.
  25. man you've spent more than i've spent on all of my audio equipment. so do your front speakers not work with your headunit you have now? I would recommend getting a nice pioneer premier head unit. They're costly but very high quality. You could also have a short somewhere causing something to get hot. I've had pioneer speakers for a long time (including the ones that came in this car stll sound great) and they have never blown. My friend has a really nice pioneer head unit and his treble matches his bass from his subs and also plays all the mids and highs outta the speakers. I've never been disappointed with the quality of pioneer.
