  1. A few weeks back I posted the findings from my 95 SC-400. Having originally thought it was the amp, i.e. limited sound from the sub, and no sound on the left., replaced it. No joy. After removing the rear deck found both the 4" speakers to be wasted away. Wasted away meaning that there was no foam between the speaker cone and the metal housing itself. After replacing them, the sub came to life. Today, I just finished replacing the front two door speakers (also 4 inch as on the rear deck) and found those also to have no foam between the speaker cone and the metal housing!!! Nothing!!! Nada!!! I used Boston Acoutics S45's in all locations and they fit like a glove. The sound is truely fantastic. Guess over years of wear we often get used to degragated sound because it happens so slow. Now.......my sound rocks again!!!!! Thanks to all who posted on this forum regarding removal and disposal. Oh.....by the way......replacing the speakers in both door panals took about 3 beers (sorry, about 2 hrs total) and the rear deck about the same. I recommend the S45's due to there great fit, and also the reasonable price. We're again rockin. Take care, Ron
  2. Just revamped my rear deck a couple days ago. Please look down the thread about 5 postings and you will see my findings.
  3. Just completed installing new rear deck coaxials in my 95 SC-400. Some interesting things though. When the problem arose from limited volume in all the rear deck speakers, I immediately thought it was the amplifier. Bought one on eBay.....no joy! Upon further digging (thanks to some of the threads here) and after taking out the rear seat, etc etc to get to them, I found the 4" speakers completely desinagrated. That is to say to foam in both speakers was completely wasted away. Ended up buying a pair of Boston Acoustics S45's from eBay along with a stock 10" subwoofer thinking it had to be changed out as well. Well......the S45's went in first, and they fit perfectly into the housing!! No need to drill additional holes or line anything up. Turned on the stereo and BINGO!!!!! Not only did the stereo come to life once again, but the subwoofer was pumping away as well!!! Guess the whole point here is that if your looking for decent sounds and don't want to mortgage the farm and go through alot of hoops the S45's is a nice choice. Also....because of the wiring, if the 4" rear deck speakers are blown, your sub may be just fine. It seems they are all interconnected and need the correct voltage/current/resistance to drive the subwoofer. Having blown 4"er's would absolutely change the input to the subwoofer.
  4. I know this subject has been beat to a pulp in this forum but my 2nd Nakamichi amplier has gone bad...the replacement did serve for two years. Anyone know of a reasonable used one for sale or possible plug and play aftermarket amp now on the market? To my knowledge no aftermarket ones were in production a couple years ago. Also....the model number is 86280-24190 on mine (know some have the number 86280-24120 in the 1995 models. I believe the first number designates the car type, but anyone know what the second number is linked to? Thanks in advance, Ron
