  1. I have been wondering that myself! I have the mark levinson stereo also and for a while now there has been a profound rattle in the back, not all the time but it has gotten worse over time. when I turn up the sub in the back and play hip hop tunes, the woofer sounds like it's going to explode, it's all distorted and stuff but idk if it's blown. I was going to take it by lexus also and see what they could do. Does anyone have any insight on this problem of mine? I also don't want to be putting aftermarket in! also I am having a lot of problems with my driver and passenger door panels rattling to no end. the speakers sound amazing but now the doors are rattling every time strong bass is applied. I wouldn't expect a car that cost 44,000 dollars to be having so much rattling with the stereo. What should I do??? Please help! saabkyle04 I just posted a new topic on the same thing. I'm seriously considering replacing my sub with aftermarket
  2. I've read quite a few complaints regarding distortion and resonance of the package tray for the ML Sub woofer. Mine does it too. It's the only thing I really hate about the car. This is my 4th Lexus, but 1st time ML. I had the GS300 '06 prior to this, and I was much more satisfied with the low-end frequency response of that system. Just to be sure I wasn't tripping, I went to the dealer yesterday, took a CD and compared the sound and settings between my car and another ES350 with ML and a ES350 with the standard audio. Mine and the other ML performed and sounded the same. The ML was clearly superior in sound, but the std system managed the power much better in the low end. The difference being in the std system, the subwoofer was never over powered to the point of distortion. This is also consistent with my previous Lexus's. Excessive SPL was required to distort the sound. It happens around 40 now on mine. The only workaround I've found was to apply the fader almost completely to the front; but you shouldn't need to do that with a high end stereo system. Any I know this may sound like *BLEEP*ization to some, but I am investigating a suitable replacement for my sub. Has anyone else done it? Is it an easy DIY?
  3. Yeah, It's not a stupid question. But yes, I went and added 6 Gallons
  4. I'm running out of options. My RX wont start. I suspect its a fuel problem, but not sure where else to look... What Happened My GF was driving it uphill when she said it starting losing power, was making a GRRRRing sound when pressing the gas. She said she also heard a "tink" noise just before this happened. When I got there there was some fluid on the ground, the consistency felt like oil. Color was yellow like new oil. The fresh air inlet hose also had a little bit of oil in it when I pulled it off Just for reference 1. I recently cleaned the ICV because of idle problems and cut-offs (ran beautifully for 4 days until this) 2. The oil was changed just after the ICV cleaning > I added a can of Engine Restorer, which may have caused a slight overfill condition 3. When the car cut off, the fuel was low (light was on) > Info here was water may have got into the tank a few days earlier (the car was taken through a carwash just after fill-up, and the cap wasn't on ....) > I've put Seafoam in the tank (but this was after it wouldn't start) 4. I checked fuel pump operation by touching 12V to the connector leads, it works fine > However when I turn the Key to the "On" position, I don't hear it run > Also, I removed the banjo bolt from the front fuel rail to see if fuel would shoot out after turning the key to On, It Doesn't (not sure if its supposed to) 5. Just for added comfort, I cleaned the entire intake system again after getting it towed home (intake manifold, IAC again, throttle body, etc) 6. I also replaced all of the spark plugs since I had the intake manifold off. 7. I also checked the EFI & Ign fuses, plus swapped the fuel relay with the horn relay to check it I can't get this thing to a mechanic for a few days, any suggestions\questions are greatly appreciated
  5. GoldenStateSilverSport, Again, GREAT post! did the repair on a '00 RX last night, fired it up and she purrs again without cutting off. Needle nose Vise grips are a must (unfortunately I missed all the great tips on page 2 &3 of this posting that would have shaved a little time for me) I hope I am able to return the favor to someone on a future post for another issue. Thanks everyone again
