  1. Booyah, I complained to the broker I used to buy the car - he had the dealer mail me the 7.1 disk. I put it in today and after figuring out which way to close the drive cover, it loaded itself in about 60 seconds and works fine. Good news is that almost all the data remained in the system memory. Only a few map features had to be reset. Rick
  2. I had asked for a comp upgrade to 7.1 at the 5000 mile service - I got the blank stare. I really didn't expect them to do it since I had not purchased the car at the dealer - I used a broker. At my wife's urging, I contacted the broker and asked if he could contact the selling dealership with whom he has a high sales volume relationship. He agreed to ask for the upgrade since when he delivered the car to the house, the system did not recognize my address. The dealership (Lexus of Riverside, CA) agreed and is mailing me the 7.1 disk. I know where the Navigation DVD player is, but is it something I can swap out myself?
  3. I just moved my XM antenna to the roof in the area which I think is where that your dealer put it. Much better reception. Here are some instructions I used - from the Club Lexus site (is it politically correct to mention that?). http://clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=310866
  4. I have a Roady 2 XM add-on that I have mounted in our RX350. I followed the instructions from a site I found on the internet (http://yoren.org/xmradio/lexus.html). He suggests putting the antenna on the driver side trunk ledge. I tried it there, then moved it onto the small window ledge near there, but the signal was intermittent, much more intermittent than when I had it mounted on the roof of our previous car. We deal with a lot of trees and coastal mountains here on the south Oregon coast. I now have the antenna mounted on top of my radar detector in the front windshield, with the wire threaded through the radar detector power cord, pretty much invisible. The signal is still not as good as I had in the old car/roof mount, so I am going to try to find a way to put it out on the roof.
  5. My wife said I should have commented on the forum about this earlier, but I thought it was pretty far out there. The reflection from the high beams in the trees resembles the Masonic emblem....
  6. I just had the 5000 mile service. I asked if they had rotated the spare into the rotation, and got the "we don't do that" response. As part of the personal settings, I asked them to change the UNLOCK key so I only needed to press it once to open everything. They didn't seem to get that right - is that something I can do myself?
  7. John, Here's the location of the DVD player in my 2008 RX350.
  8. Claude 7629, On your nav system, select MENU. In the uppr right hand corner should be a button labeled MAP DVD. Select that and it should tell you which version you have.
  9. I am sure there are others thatmight have more complete answers on availablility of some of these, but I'll tell you about mine. I have a 2008 with nav, nicely equipped. In response to your items: Must: Heated seats - yes Aux audio input for pods, mp3s, XM and Garmin - no dual climate - yes seat memory - yes auto down and up window - yes always on 12 volt outlets in the front - the lighter and accessory plug appear to be switched by the key (short answer - no) ample storage for sunglasses and small stuff within reach of driver - limited. We had a Ford Escape that had tons of accessible storage places - the RX is much more limited interior color that doesnt show dirt. Wife's interior is tan and shows dirty foot prints! - ours is ivory.... Wanna: Heated/cooled drink holders - no auto wipers - yes sunroof that closes with 1 button push not 4 like on the friggin outback! - yes remote open windows on the key fob - yes
  10. Hoffy1, Nice. We'll stick with the Brandywine.... To each his own.
  11. I am also having this consideration. I just took delivery of a 2008 RX350 and miss my XM radio. I am not sure I want to shell out that much money for the dealer-installed setup. I did a search and found this web page of a guy in San Francisco who installed a Roady (I have a $20 Roady-2 that he addresses as well) in an RX330. He says the antenna works well in the cargo compartment - we'll see. I am a little further north on the Oregon coast, so I am not sure it will work. His instructions: http://yoren.org/xmradio/lexus.html
  12. Brandy Wine Mica is an awesome color that pictures don't do justice. We've had it just four days now. 2008 RX350 - Port Orford, Oregon Coast Longer hood....2"...? Longitudnally mounted engine, say from the IS250 (DFI, 12:1 compression ratio) and/or IS350 (DFI, 11.8 Compression ratio) and maybe, FINALLY, a rear based, biased, AWD...?? More sensible Atkinson Cycle 2.5L V6 for the hybrid...?? Or maybe rear biased AWD via a solid coupling(***) to the rear and VC for the from and DFI adopted for the sideways engines. (***) Even on the current model the center diff'l spider gears can be removed and the rear drive side gear welded to the carrier housing for an easy conversion to RWD with the VC for front drive. Then the 1-2 second delay hesitation idiory could be eliminated since the engine compression braking would occur primarily at the rear. I'll take mine in Brandywine.... One can dream......
  13. I just took delivery of a 2008 RX350 equipped with the towing package. Inside the cargo compartment was a box that includes the ball mount that slides into the 2" receiver, and the locking bar. It does not include the ball itself. Thanks very much. That keeps me from making an Idiot of myself if I asked what happened to the Ball Mount! Got a call yesterday that the car has arrived at the Dealer, and will be ready to pick up on Tuesday afternoon. Really looking forward to it! Thanks again!
  14. We were interested in the dark green, which has been discontinued, then saw the Brandywine Mica at a dealer, so opted for that. We have not seen too many of them.
