  1. I'm looking for Nakamachi head unit. thank you.
  2. yes, air back cover kind of strange. Have no idea what caused that. one of the tab of the lower panel broke off; that is why you see the panel hanging. the a/c cabin filter is inside this panel and also the main ecu is inside too.
  3. make sure your home made CD has no label on it. The label jammed inside the cd changer sometimes.
  4. Have you tried to disconnect the battery?
  5. for peace of mind, I just do my own oil change; no need to worry about over-tighten drain bolt, missing screw, oil filter not tighten enough or too tight etc etc and the LS is one of the ealiest to do oil change. Usually take me about 30 to 40 minutes. One thing about the dealer, they just use regular dino oil unless you bring your own but you never know whether the mechanic really put it in for you.
  6. Hey Guys, I notice after every trip, I opened the hood and I can smell and see some fumes coming up from the driver side exhaust thru the engine compartment, and I see the transmission tube going down to the pan is kind of oily; Is there a leak somewhere with the tranmission tube ? I remember I read about it somewhere about an O ring thing. Thank you.
  7. I notice I get 1 to 2 mpg more from Chevron than Aloha.
  8. I have a 93 or 94 Nakamichi head unit available. I bought it to replace my 94 Pioneer head unit but the pioneer plug do not fit the Nakamichi. anybody interested?
  9. I have a 94 LS with 85,000 miles; previous owner replaced the power steering rack, instructment cluster, and the ac drier. that is all. so far everything else working good.
  10. I have a 94 LS400 with 85K miles, the shifter is kind of loose at any position but I can shift properly. I can move the shifter to left or right slightly. feel like something underneath the shifter is missing or not firming the shaft. I looked right underneath the shifter portion under the car and I don't see anything abnormal. Do you have any idea what the problem is and what part is needed to fix this. Thank you.
  11. my 94 LS only get 10 mpg with 85K miles on engine; How to determine the O2 sensor not working?
  12. is the loose shifter related to the transmission mount shift lever ? where is the transmission mount shift lever located? any idea? Thank you.
  13. Is the shifter loose, moving left to right, when you're moving the shifter with your hand, or is the shifter loose when the transmission shifts gears while driving? It sounds to me like the clunk you're experiencing with your car is the same clunk that I am experiencing; when moving the shifter into Drive from Park or Neutral. The reason I changed out the motor and trans mounts is because my transmission kind of lags when it shifts while driving. The shifting is no longer crisp like when I first bought it. I changed the mounts because I knew they were worn from checking them out and was hoping that changing them would improve my transmissions shifting. I also knew from this site that motor mounts last around 100,000 miles before they need changing. Now my thinking is that this has only put more stress on my drive line with possibly worn out flex couplings, but I'm not sure. My car still doesn't shift smoothly, even with new motor and trans mounts. Matter of fact, it now shifts harder when the engine is under more stress than it did before changing the mounts. The lagging has subsided somewhat, but now it shifts harder while driving and clunks/lurches when shifted into Drive. Are you considering changing your mounts? I can explain how to check them out if you'd like. It's pretty simple. Is the shifter loose, moving left to right, when you're moving the shifter with your hand, or is the shifter loose when the transmission shifts gears while driving? Thanks for responing. yes, my shifter moving left to right at 'P'; feel like the whole shift is falling apart. Is there something underneath the shifter to hold it firmly? NOT shifter loose when the transmission shifts gears while driving. I don't have any problem with the transmission ; it shifts smoothly at any speed. Sure I would like to check out the mounts, please tell me how. Thank you.
  14. I really have no clue of the situation you mentioned. But I have some questions for you if you don't mind. Why you have a motor mounts and trans mount replaced ? What was the systoms before replacing the mounts? I also notice clunk sound when shift to Drive from Park (but NOT from drive to Park); and my shifter is kind of loose while shifting (move left to right). Are these related?Thank you.
  15. I totally agreed with you. :)
  16. but I will not spend $3447.00 on a LS that is worth less than the shocks. Just my 2 cents.
  17. yeah, when it is on 'high' the car raises up a little bit. also firm up suspension in sports mode. BTW, do you know the previous owners replaced any of the 4 air shocks? FYI, each one cost over $1,000.00 ; When to tell they are bad? the car will sag to the corner of the bad air shock; usually you will see it in the morning. Be aware!! :o I'm a bit worried now. The front air shocks on my 92 will sink if left undriven within a 24+ hour period. But start it up and the suspension will go back to normal height. At one point, it was permanently stuck on "HIGH" and I somehow managed to coax it back to normal. Somehow. your front air shock already no good (leaks) if sink after 24 hours.
  18. I used to have a '91 LS with air suspension (right rear air shock failed at 69K miles ! that when I learnt my lesson :( ) and there is not really that much difference with the normal or sports mode ride to me. Well ; to who ever thinking of getting a LS: STAY AWAY FROM THE AIR SUSPENSION OPTION, regardless how good the car looks! Otherwise, sooner or later it will cost you big time!

  20. I used jiffy lubes years ago once for safety check; they sucked! They screwed up my head light aim ; the guy did not know how to adjust the head light! I will never use them; the guy who did the oil change for you probably did not put the drain plug gasket back or he just probably lost it. My advice is do your own oil change; it is so easy; just invest in a pair of Rhino Ram from Checkers. I had bad experience with Midas and Jiffy Lubes; don't let them touch your LS.
  21. Great Post; I'm sure someday I have to use this fix. :)
  22. I feel like I'm driving a Tank and I feel safe in this car; this car was solidly built and still drive like new after 13 years. And I like the thickness of the paint. How many coats of paint they applied? :)
