  1. I own a 2004 Blizard white with KDSS system. There is nothing in the body or the looks that can tell you it has KDSS suspension. However, if you look under the car you can see the KDSS supension system, which is very different than the regular one. BTW, the handeling is also much much better with KDSS. Paricularly around sharp turns and freeway ramps. Mine has about 50k on it, and depending on the going price I might be interested to sell it since I have a second car. I am the original owner, never have been in an accident and it is fully loaded with Nav., 3rd row seats and rear seat DVD player. You may send me an email: bob@advancedphoto.net reagrds bob
  2. I posted earlier in response, ( 1st reply) My GX is a 2004, and it will be paid off this year and I still have the same issue. IT IS NOT THE TIRE. LEXUS knows about this, but has not done a darn thing about it. :chairshot: The noise is very annoying, I have tried everything to fix this issue, including returning the truck, but I would have lost in every case. Frankly, I do not drive the car anymore, only on occasions. My wife does not seem to hear it or just does not care. So we switched, and I am driving the Mercedes :) I just can not believe that LEXUS does not care and still have the same issue in 2007 models. They can make the car park itself, but can't overcome a very annoying and abnormal NOISE. That is why I will go back to German cars. !Removed! just don't care.
  3. It is amazing that Lexus has not addressed the droning noise yet in 2006 models. Sorry but I think most of the GX470 trucks have this issue, but most people don't hear it, or don't go that fast 65-75mph. I have a 2004 model that was purchased on December of 2003. Just after 2 days of owning the car, I heard the exact same noise that you are describing. After many trips to Lexus service, and many road tests I was able to establish a case which I took all the way to corporate level. Even I requested to return the truck back to them, but they claimed that this is normal sound in the truck and nothing can be done. The service foreman tried swaoing the drive shaft to see if it helps, but it didn't. So i can tell you that I did fight them, but didn't get anywhere. :cries: So after owning the car for over 3 years now, I am kinda used to hearing the noise and it does not bother me as much. You can hear and feel it a lot more in winter time for some reason. Specifically when it is cold. It is just sad that they have not done anything to the design to fix this problem, even now? Anyway, best of luck to you, and please let me know if you get anywhere with this issue. Bob
  4. I am glad to report that I received great news from the Lexus service manager regarding the problem with cycling noise at 70 mph that is outline in my previous posts (Jan 21, 2004_ 04'GX problem) is about to be resolved. He informed me that lexus is officially going to put out a memo out on the 20th of this month to all their dealers and provide part numbers and a fix to this issue. He could not elaborate on what is going to be done on the car, but he said that he will read the memo to me once it is available. I can tell you that once the problem is fixed I can really start to enjoy my new car that I like a lot. Will keep everyone posted. :)
  5. 1400 miles and just found a large crack on the windshield. Does not seem like a rock hit it. Cold wether?? That is messed up
  6. Greetings; A few weeks ago I bought a new GX fully loaded with all the options including the KDSS. I had just returned my leased 2001 ML430 and after test-driving many different trucks, I picked the GX. First I have to say that I like the car very much, and if it weren’t for this one issue I wouldn't be here in this forum asking for help. As It appears the problem may be similar to the vibration that everyone is talking about, or not? When I drive the car at exactly at 70 mph or higher, I hear a roaring or whinnying noise that results from sustained speed of 70 or over while keeping my foot on the accelerator. When I lift my foot off the accelerator the whinnying goes away. The noise also accompanies some sensation of vibration or something rubbing underneath the driver's side flooring. (Not the steering wheel unlike the posts regarding vibration.) First time I took it back to the dealer at 200 miles they acknowledged the problem, and they said Lexus knows about this issue but there is no fix available as of yet. That answer was not acceptable for me on a brand new car. I called the corporate office, and I was put in touch with service manger that now wanted a second chance to try and fix the problem. Today the truck went back in to the shop again. At about 5:00 P.M. Lexus service called and informed me that the mechanic hears and feels the problem but has not been able to fix it yet; they wanted to keep the truck for one more day. (Great at least they acknowledge the problem.) I am wondering if there is anyone else out there that has this problem and has anyone been able to get it resolved? Again you can only hear it at 70mph and you have to have the stereo turned off because the noise is not very loud but yet very annoying. Currently I have about 1300 miles on the truck, and do not have the knocking noise and the steering wheel vibrations that everyone else is having. Despite the fact that I love this truck, this one problem if not resolved, is enough reason for me to return the truck.
  7. Greetings; I am also new to the forum. Two weeks ago I bought a GX470 and have a problem that sounds like the floorboard vibration. At sustained speeds of 65-70 MPH I hear and feel a roaring noise under my left foot as if something is rubbing there. (see my post at GX forum) I took it to the dealer and they said that LEXUS is aware of the problem, but has no solutions yet. Lindsy Lexus advisor informed me that there was some sign of friction under the engine cover and that they have added some insulation there. Their patch work helped just a very little bit. -A Second problem that I have encountered is the pulling to the left when as I am accelarating. I would like to know if any GX or LX owners have experinced this problem. They checked the alignment already but I still feel that the car pulls a little on accleration. Other than that my GX is a 04 model with KDSS (kenetic dynamic suspension) and I like everything else about the car. Silky smooth and great handeling. I can't agree with the post that is trashing the GX. May be they resolved the issues on the 2004 models. Any comments or Feedbacks? Bob
  8. Two weeks ago I bought my 2004 GX- 470 that is loaded with all the new options including the KDSS suspension system. After the second day or my first freeway ride, I noticed a roaring noise from under my left foot when I hit 60 MPH. This roaring noise combined with a sensation that something is rubbing under the drivers cabin directly under the floor matt. I took the car in to the dealer and upon return I was informed that this is a problem that lexus is aware of, but has no solutions. The service advisor said that they noticed some signs of friction under the cabin and that they have put some kind of insulation there. Dealer's patch work did not fix the problem and the service advisor could not tell me if there is going to be a fix coming up soon. This makes me very angry to say the least. After spending $54000.00 I don't expect to have a car with such problem. I am wondering if anyone else has noticed this problem or not? Also if anyone has any advice for me as to how I should aproach this? Again it only happens at speeds higher than 60 MPH :( Thanks Bob
