  1. Car: 90 ls400 167K miles. I absolutely love the car. The thorn in my side is the $#!++/ power steering pump and the endless leaks. I've done everything from this forum, including a pump replacement x 2. It's been a ongoing frustrating struggle. I'd slow it down for a while, and then it was back. I thought today about replacing the pump entirely with an electric pump. A little research turned up a few possibilities, but I wanted to check here first. No need to reinvent the wheel. Has anyone ever gone powersteeringless for an extended length of time? Can I just remove the pump and buy a new serpentine belt? Will this action screw up the rotation of something in the path? i appreciate all the help over the years.

  3. My 1990 LS400 (many miles) has started having some resistance in the transmission shifter between all the settings (P-R-N-D). It never "catches" and it moves smoothly, but not nearly as easily as before. It's as if it used to move in light-weight oil and now it moves in something much thicker.
