  1. I wish I had an answer, but probably ask the local dealer's service dept. they have run across that before I'm pretty sure (one of the techs knows I bet, even if the manager has no clue). Just curoius, did you buy the overhead unit separate & then take it to a local shop for the install? or did you get everything done at once? About how much was it. I read in my manual (2004 GX, but my manual is from a 2003, lol, thats all they had to give me) that the rear audio (headphone jacks) only works if you have a CD and a Casette inserted, I have to test it out to see if that is true. Right now mine does not work when I plug-in headphones (but I do not have a casette in - have to first dig one up :P ). I do not have a DVD, just the overhead light, but am planning to get an aftermarket one installed. Thanks for any insight into the process, hope you fins a good solution. I bought the DVD at CC and had Firedog install it. I'll give the local dealer a call, but not expecting much help.
  2. I have a 2004 gx. Does anyone know how to disable the rear audio via the main system? I just installed an overhead dvd and think that the removal of the rear audio is what is causing the "external system is not connected" error. THanks.
  3. BlueLexus! PLEASE tell me you found a solution. I just got an overhead DVD put in at CC and am having the same problem. How do you fix this? the controllers go for 125.00 used working condition This is the rear audio controller located in the headliner you speak of? I will need one that works with the Levinson audio sysytem. Do you have a contact #? there are 2 different gx470 rear systems and 2 diferent controllers. one has dvd screen flip down called rear entertainment system. . the other is a rear audio controller no video invloved. call me at 937 322 1760 to figure out which one you have. i dont understand why the dealer didnt give you the part nunmber and price of the part you needed but i will help you figure it out. very hard to do by club posts. i deal in this every day and cant figure out what you need without asking more questions. gx470 rear audio controller is actually in the back of the console along with ac contols for rear air. a lot of dealers have no idea of the different options in a gx470. I am having the same problem with my CD changer. I recently had an Invision G10 drop down DVD player installed in place of the headliner Rear Seat Audio System (no DVD) unit. It was done by a local car audio video specialty company here in Seattle. Ever since the install of that unit, I get the same message about the CD changer. If I read these posts correctly, it sounds like that overhead display unit is necessary for the CD changer to work. Hopefully, there is a bypass of some kind If anyone has any experience with this problem, I would love to hear about it. I plan to take the car to the dealer this Saturday (to have a faulty hinge on the glove box checked out). I was hoping a connector on the back of the CD changer had been pulled loose but it looks like it may be more complicated than that.
