  1. I need to change the rear motor mount on my 98 ES300. But I have no idea if I this is easy enough to do myself and was hoping there was a DIY. I tried searching but didn't see one. Also, when I looked up the parts, it showed just the inserts and also one with the metal housing. I'm assuming I could just use the inserts. Does anyone have experience with this and is it easy enough?
  2. My 98 has no problems with its tranny at 269K miles. No problems shifting in cold or warm weather. All I did was have the dealer change the fluid every 60K miles and no quick jerky starts or kickdowns.
  3. I have 237,000 miles on mine now with no adjustments.
  4. Congrats on the new ride. These cars are fantastic for the money and they will last a long time provided that you take good care of them. I bought my 98 ES300 new and it has been a very reliable car. Only a few things that are problematic with these cars but you will find most DIY's on this and other forums. My car has 234K miles on it now and it still drives like new. I can't sell mine cause it's not worth much and I don't think there is really any valid reason to sell it. Just going to drive it till she dies, which might be a long time from now. Good luck with your ride.
  5. 98 ES300 Original Owner 234,5xx miles. Had the timing belt and water pump replaced every 100,000 miles. 6,000 mile synthetic oil/filter changes. Runs great. Forgot to add that I have the dreaded Valve Cover Gasket leak.
  6. Can you elaborate on why the car died? I am curious as to what can put the final nail in the coffin. EDIT: Never mind, I read the answer on another post.
  7. I wonder how many miles would have been on my 91 LS400 if I still had it. Back in 96 it had 110K miles on it. Then it was in an accident and was totalled by my insurance company. Just for fun, let's back calculate and see what I would have if I kept it. At 22K miles per year x 16 years = 352K miles! Wow! OK, I know that's not real miles but I have 234K miles on my 98 ES300 :-)
  8. Just wanted to thank the OP on this DIY. It made it easy for me to tackle this job. I did notice that my RPM was a bit higher than normal initially but it has come down a bit in the last day. Anyone else have this problem? If so, what did you do to fix it?
  9. I am having the same problem now. I just took off the IACV and cleaned it, put it back together and the car idles higher than normal. Even after the engine warms up, it stays that way. Anyone know what is going on?
  10. I searched it and found a good thread with detailed info and photos. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...e+body+cleaning
  11. I am having the same problem as you are. Here is a link at CL that I used. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=292964 There are some suggestions that I tried but it did not work out for me. Maybe it can help you. I am still having the same starting problems as you have so if anyone knows a solution please reply. Thanks!
