  1. Definately something that can be done in a day with normal tools(K9crew covered all the tools needed on his site). I started about 11AM and was finished by 4PM- I rolled thru 6 or 7 beers and pizza so that might have slowed me down a bit. :P . I found that regular tools(not air) worked just fine but it definately helped when compressing the springs! i just wish I had access to a lift like K9crew did- that would definately cut down on the time! As for the Reservoir I had 3 bolts holding it in place and the 3rd was only accessable from the back(front of the car) and had to remove the plastic below to gain access to the bolt. Thats not too big of a deal except the 10 or so screws you have to take out to get the bottom plastic off! there were like 4 different styles of screws holding it on which would make for a confusing time if you didn't make sure they went back in the same place they came from. Maybe I just had to many beers at that point since it was the last of the 4 to get changed ! At any rate the instructions K9crew povided are excellent and should be all you need to do this yourself.
  2. K9crew, Excellent work! Thats exactly what I did this weekend :D . I found that using a 3/8 socket extension (6 inch) worked even better to put in place of the zip tie to hold the front control arm. Using the socket extension it was easier to remove it and replace it to get the strut assembly in and out- and it was easier to just slide the extension in VS. trying to get the zip tie in. I actually had to remove a few more bolts on the windshield washer reservoir (all of them so I could move it) to be able to get the control arm bolt out- that required removal of the lower shield attached to the front bumber since one of the bolts was on the back side of the reservoir. Not sure if this helps any or not but I wasn't able to get that bolt out without being able to move the reservoir out of the way. I definately appreciated the pics- they did help me and I'm sure it will help other tackling this job as well!
  3. K9crew, Thanks for the info. I was thinking there might be some good ones and some that were pretty much useless and it sounds like you guys found a little of both. I am interested in what you have and I'm sure other members may be interested as well. What models and years do they cover? Is this something that can be downloaded or would you have to mail a CD? Thanks for all the help. P.S.- I just installed some Tokico shocks this weekend and your pics helped. The stock ones were definately bad- I could compress them and 2 of them wouldn't even expand- the other 2 would but I could stop the travel with my finger. The car has over 100K miles so I imagine it was overdue. I didn't install new springs but I am definately interested in your before and after pics of the spring install when you get them.
  4. Not sure if there is allready a post for this or not but I couldn't find one. I was wondering if anyone had access to a good Repeair manual for a 1994 SC400. I see several for sale on Ebay (hardcopy and CD) but don't really want to buy something that should be something you can find on the internet. I'm also not to sure it will contain good info- after all the hard copies are 2 manuals and pretty thick ones at that. I guess what I'm wondering is do any of you know of a site to be able to download (FTP probably) one of these repair manuals? I know some of the CD's are pretty good size (MB size that is) but there should be some good ones out there somewhere. Any ideas? ;)
  5. If he doesn't know what the SLR is then he should definately not be allowed to owen it :P . There is no copmarison- I love the SC430 and yes it's a great car but please- not even close. Maybe Bill did win the lotto or is your last name Gates ???
  6. Just thought I'd put my 2 cents in- The PIAA Extreme white plus bulbs are also very nice if your looking for brighter and whiter rather than the blueish look. Personally I like to see as much as I can and would love to get HID put still a little pricey for me. ANyway- Check out the PIAA bulbs.
  7. I would have the alternator checked- specifically the regulator as this is quite often a problem associated with regulators. On some older model card the regulator is seperate fom the alternator but Lexus has integrated regulators so you will probably have to replace/exchange the alternator if the regulator is bad. Hope this helps.
  8. Anyone know where to find the urethane bump stops/spring isolators? I am about to tackle the same job and figure I'll be needing to replace them as well since I have almost 115,000 miles. Thanks for the help and info!
