  1. You could call the dealer to find out what they would charge to program the key. Here is thread for programming a key on the rx300 http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...t=ST&f=5&t=1916
  2. Sorry, for the confusion, they replace the radiator cap (and gas cap) as part of the service. You could try more air in the tires. I have traditionally filled my tires 3-4 lbs over what the factory recommendation is since I like a firmer ride (in my sedans). I believe i have the factory tires but others have used a different brand for better handling performance. On the highway I would switch between sport and soft depending on what the road was like (winding road or straight highway). One of the advantages of the lexus over the toyota was the active suspensions ability to keep the truck relatively stable. I assume you notice a difference between the settings. For me on sport it drives like a jeep grand cherokee (bouncy) and on soft it's like the LS400. If it's under warranty you could take it in and have them check it out for you.
  3. I ended up finding my 2000 on Autotrader. Actually it was a broker called American Leasing and Sales. They do a lot of dealer transfers on Lexus. I called on a truck and it was gone. Kyle took my information and called me when a truck came up with my requirements. I did the whole thing over the internet & phone. They sent a lot of pictures and I had a local AAA mechanic (see the website) do a pre-sale inspection (American leasing took the truck there for me). I could have driven to KS (the truck came from a Florida dealer) to see it (from Milwaukee) but checked references and all was well. I will get my next one from them. I did the financing through capital one in 15 min. The whole experience was nice. The truck looks like new, I was amazed. I also watched ebay and almost picked up a truck there from a dealer (go with dealers that move a lot of vehicles). On ebay you tell the world if you had bad or good service. W/a local dealer you can only tell your friends... Good Luck!
  4. Opps, my mistake, looking at the invoice it was $1,207. $361 in parts and $846 for labor. They replaced all the fluids (cooling, transmission, differential, lift system, brakes, etc), spark plugs, tune up, all air filters ($111 of intake, cabin, etc), replace thermostat, repack the bearings on the 4 wheel drive, 4 wheel alignment (which they had to do 2x, I am very particular on steering wheel alignment), new radiator and gas caps. Plus the peace of mind that all has been serviced and now it's oil changes every 7,500 for a few years. Also it was 100% tax deductable (as was the truck itself) for my small company... We just love the truck. It rides like a sedan and handled like a sports car (adjusting the suspension) on the mountain roads of pennsylvania. We put over 2,200 miles on it the first 2 weeks traveling for Christmas.
  5. let us know when you upgrade the bulbs. To me that is the only reason to improve the wiring harness. Otherwise I will have to install at "off road/show car" xenon kit.
  6. Yes, I had to replace one for $18. My wife took it off while backing too quickly out of the garage (before the door was all the way up). Luckily that was all that happened.
  7. Interesting. I purchased a 2000 LX470 w/58k miles on it this december. I was considering spending the 1600 on extended warranty but had faith in toyota reliability. The truck was a lease turn in and was maintained beautifully. I had the 60K maintenance performed ($1,800 & 2 days in the shop) and all is well. I will replace the tires this fall. I will have to listen for that manifold problem. I may be ignoring it because I don't know it's not supposed to do that. Otherwise no problems to report! I assume that noise is pretty obvious? would it be there only when it's cold? and not when the engine is warm?
  8. Lighting is one of the first thing I experimented with this December when we picked up our 2000 LX470. I experimented with the OSRAM Silverstars ($50 pair) and some Hilite Superwhite bulbs from ebay (the sellers have the best customer service I have encountered) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=2460135965 I like the white/blue color and it does improve things as much as possible without going to actual xenon. The Silverstars were whiter and the ebay lights were a tad more blue. Each about equal brightness. I have replaced every white light in the front with these "blue" bulbs. It certainly is an improved look. I also picked up some blue side/parking lights on eaby $1.50 each. I also tried to upgrade to a higher wattage after asking the local lexus dealer about higher wattage bulbs (they said it would be fine). The higher wattage (100 w) worked great on the high beams but the low beams (65 or 80 can't remember) were actually dimmer since the wiring didn't seem to support the current draw. I ended up putting back in the 55W HiLites. Perhaps the upgrades wiring harness would help. I returned the Silverstars (I also had one of these fail) because they seemed to perform the same as the Hilites that were 1/2 the price. I did have a bulb fail and they told me to send it back to them and they sent me a new twin pack at no charge (so now I have an extra). Overall I am happy with the lights. I would prefer actual xenon but they are difficult to come by these days. For about $50 I was able to replace all 6 of the front lights and the 2 sidemarker lights.
  9. On ebay you can get an override for the DVD for about $85. It will allow you to watch a dvd without being in park. Looks pretty simple to install. Search ebay for LX470 DVD it will pop up. or check this one out http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=14946
