  1. You can do it yourself....the trans mount is easy....takes a few minutes...the motor mounts are harder to get to....you need to jack to motor up off of the mounts...you also need a certain kind of wrench ( I can't remember the name)...do a search and you will find all the info you need....it will make a WORLD of difference in how the car rides.....if the car has 158K the mounts should be changed...not sure if it will solve you particular problem but it is a relatively cheap and easy fix.....and a common problem with these cars....not really a problem just a maintenance issue.... good luck....
  2. I had my motor mounts changed yesterday at the shop. I go to the car and start it and........power steering pump is going nuts. I open the hood and fluid is all over....it was blowing out of the resevoir....what the !!!???? The mechanic takes the car back in and gives the pump a work over...He cleans a filter and does who knows what else. It is fixed just barely so that I can drive it home and not damage it ...(I think).... I have to bring it back in. I know the pumps/seals going bad is a common problem with these things....mine was leaking a bit on the alternator....I had put about half a bottle of Lucas stop leak in it....still leaked.....I wonder if the additive had something to do with this or if they did something when changing the mounts.....Could this just be a coincidence???
  3. When the car is parked and at idle , Does the motor shake back and forth at all? Get under the car and look at the mount grommets, They may be deteriated. You'd be surprised............ I will check...thanks for the tip as far as bushings go....will they cause the entire car to vibrate? I don't feel it coming from one area.. thanks Changed the mounts...vibration gone!!!!!!!!

  5. How many miles on the car? You might as well replace them around 100K.....they seem to go bad eventually....it will at least eliminate 1 cause of vibration. I have learned it is a good idea to replace the tranny/engine mounts at the same time.
  6. I have searched all threads and have not seen this question. Will bad motor mounts cause vibration when you are not accelerating? I have replaced my tranny mount which was bad. I can still feel vibration at highway speeds even when my foot is off the gas or when car is in neutral. I have ruled out tires/wheels....any other ideas...?? thanks
  7. thanks....I appreciate it Did you have a different type wrench to access the top nuts?.....I can get a wrench on them but I don't have the room to break the nut free.... nevermind...I found an older thread with good info thanks

  9. check your linkage on the engine...you may need to lubricate it
  10. My buddy used Lucas stop leak for his power steering on his honda...said it worked like a charm. I am not one for additives but I won't have time to change the pump for at least a month...so.....does anyone have experience with this with their SC?
  11. I have replaced my tranny mount...obvious that it was worn out...car was shaking like mad.... but.....I still have a slight vibration at higher speeds...I have ruled out wheels/tires....I am not sure how to tell if motor mounts are worn out.... any ideas?
