  1. I need a reliable mechanic in the Washington DC area. The few place I've been are places I wouldn't want to return to. I prefer an independent shop that specializes in Toyota/Lexus. What do you guys recommend?
  2. First off, thanks for all the help I got on my last check engine light issue. I had to replace my bank 1 sensor 1 o2 sensor. Which I had done by a shade tree mechanic nearby. The light went off and all was good. Then a week later I got a P0441 error code, the guy at autozone told me to tighten my gas cap. Did so and had the light reset. Then a week later the light popped back on. Had the codes scanned and here I go the P0441 & P0446 code came up. I've searched and read about the charcoal canister issue. My car has 200k on it and I need to have it inspected at the end of the month. Before I dump a few hundred dollar that I really can't really afford, what can I do to fix this?
  3. Isn't there a button in the glove box you can push that will turn off the interior switch? Someone in your car may have pushed it by mistake.
  4. What is the best approach to fix the problem? Should I replace all 3 of the sensors with Denso sensors? Or should I replace them one at a time? The sensor under the driver's seat has been replaced with a Bosch unit. The other Bosch one I have in the mail, I guess I'll need to return it. This is a bummer, I just want the light to turn off.
  5. How old is you battery? I had the same problem the a few days after I bought my car, thought it was something serious. Changed the battery and it was fine. I know it sounds simple, but when it happened to me I had a mechanic look do work to the car the same day he even changed the battery terminals. If your car has been sitting all night and it being winter the battery would be having difficulty starting the car.
  6. Hey everyone, My check engine light came on my '98 ES300. Auto Zone said it was the P0135 check engine code, Bank 2. I replaced the O2 sensor behind the Cat and reset the light. Today the light came on, same code except it is Bank 1. So I ordered a new O2 sensor (Bosch) and I'll change it out when it comes in. Just wondering if there is a third that I need to replace? The kid at Auto Zone says I have 2 and I know the 2000 model has 3. Thanks
  7. It sounds like you have a loose connection from the radio to the antenna. Mine ('98 ES 300) did that to when I first got it. Tracked it down to the connection behind the radio. Does it cut off while sitting still? or only when you are driving, like over rough or bumped roads? The two most common connections are at the radio and the back window where the antenna is connected. I think it cuts on and off when I come to a stop or accelerate and kicks on when I make a turn. I don't think I've had it cut off when when I have been sitting still. Where is the connection in the back window and what does the connection behind the radio look like? Thanks.
  8. Hey Everyone new user and first post. I know this topic may have already been posted, but I need some clarification. I bought a 1998 ES300 about six months ago and now things are starting to break :cries: Today my radio started turning off and on while I was driving. The display works fine and so the CD changer. Are there fuses I can check or is my head unit/amp about to give out. What are my options? Could I go to a radio tech or do I just need to replace the unit? Thanks
