  1. Lately I have observed that my 94 SC300 has been doing some strange things. 1) Automatic transmission shifter knob shakes in 3rd gear between 35-45 MPH. Developed and has seemed to worsen over time. 2) Car tends to shake when coming to a stop in third gear. Shaking could be described as a type of forward and back rocking. It is a feeling similar to brake problems or if you were to pump the breaks while stopping but only occurs when slowing to a stop in 3rd gear. A friend of mine has mentioned engine and transmission mounts, and while I agree that this can be a problem with similar effects, the details surrounding a particular gear leave me to believe it is strictly transmission related. I am going to change the transmission fluid and see if it helps at all but if anyone has any thoughts, ideas, or pro-tips, I would appreciate it. Side Note: By third gear I mean that the transmission switches gears three times from a complete stop with overdrive on and in the normal transmission time option. Thanks.
  2. Nice driving man, I have a 94 SC300 but you won't find me doing that stuff. Stay safe and good luck with your endeavor to "get on the track for good."
  3. IMO, go after market. You can get a great system installed professionally at a reasonable price. (and have CD's and iPod capability)
  4. Do you mind taking some pics Dave? I would like to see how what you got done looks after its installed. I want to get the white needles and blue back light (or vice versa) at some point. Thanks.
  5. Yea, I see your point, and you would well know that sometimes little things can accentuate those lines in a car, which was the reason why I asked to see what others think. But, its all good, I guess that the common understanding is that it would not be that way at all. :P
  6. Did you check the battery, connections, and fuses? (Make sure that your fuses are not blown and that your battery cables are securely fastened. I had to replace my OEM connectors when I installed my system because the OEM connects where deteriorated.
  7. Cool, my SC300 has the R134 sticker so its already fitted. Thanks for the info.
  8. http://www.procarcare.com/icarumba/resourc..._autotrans3.asp --"..Be extremely careful not to overfill it. Overfilling may cause slippage, seal damage and overheating.." I'm gonna guess this means yes but I'm no expert.
  9. That is great. Streets around me seem to be flooded with cars like this. I love when a little CRX pulls up to me revvin like is gonna do something with its loud muffler and unpainted kit then gets smoked.
  10. So I guess the general consensus is a no. I was just curious how people thought. Looks like people are very strong about this type of thing.. I still think they look nice, not sure about on an SC but its no matter. I have to say, plenty of people on these forums have talked about or have asked about putting areo kits on their SC which is just as much of a visual upgrade unless you get an all out weight reduction as well. With that being said, for everyone to jump around screaming "ricer" is ironically hypocritical. On top of that, if you go get a Mustang or an Eclipse just for the gas door your a moron. All I really wanted was people's opinions on how it would look. I do have to say that I love the pictures you have posted up around these forums Justin. I can't stop laughing when I see stupid *BLEEP* like that.
  11. Here's a question. Has anyone ever used one of those DIY Freon Recharge Kits? I saw one the other day at Advanced Auto Parts for around $20 and it had a pressure gauge and everything. If this works and it is somewhat easily done (which it appears to be) it would be like $20 vs. $120 right? Please let me know if anyone has any experience with this. Thanks.
  12. I know what you mean, it is almost "artificial." Although, the SC definitely holds its own as a very powerful car, and an even stronger car when you pour money into it. I just thought it might look slick on its stealthy body.
  13. Whats your opinion of a Mustang Style Fuel Door on an SC300/400. I think the idea would like kinda slick on an SC's body if done well but I am just curious what others think. I have seen this on a lot of different cars and it looks nice. In case you don't know what I mean: http://www.cardomain.com/shoplist~t~Fuel%2520Doors If anyone has done this or has a picture of an SC that has this, please post it up so we could see what it looks like.
  14. Cool, im not on much right now (cause of my work schedule) but my AIM is UCFVicster. Feel free to hit me up if you need to know anything about UCF, I might be able to help.
  15. Yea, I will be taking my SC300 back down to O-Town this semester. I'm a junior at UCF so time is an issue but well see. I will post some pics sometime, but I havn't done much to mine, just put a system in.
  16. The oem spot is actually 2.5 din, so if you have anything else to put in that 1/2 din then do so (i.e. Equalizer..etc..) but I didn't. I got a custom fabrication done in my SC300 and it looks great. Not much was needed except for some minor adjustments to the mounting and then some ABS plastic to fill the 1/2 spot and a 1 din tray (which is really nice to have). I had a pro shop here in MD do it for me but it didn't seem to hard. The speakers where all wired directly through the wire harness into the Pioneer DEH-P4900iB head unit I bought. The oem amp was bypassed and I don't use it nor the sub.. (probably gonna take it out) Instead I have a 1200watt sony amp and two 12" Eclipse subs in a box in the trunk. I will post some pics up but I think you get the point. Good luck with your install.
  17. Awsome, I would like to see your results when you get it back. The ones I have seen so far have looked very nice, im sure they will look great! Thanks for the info btw.
  18. Yea thanks, if it is to extensive then I don't think I will do it myself. I might look into that. If anyone has any other info that would be great! Thanks again.
  19. Just wondering if anyone writes (or would be willing to write) a tutorial on replacing the instrument lighting. I have seen it done in photos here and it looks really nice. The white/blue for the speedometer and such is easy on the eyes. I havn't been adventurous enough yet to take it out and look myself. So that would be great if anyone could do somthing. Thanks BTW: 94' SC300
  20. Check under your hood man. Mine is right inside to the top right. Yellow sticker that will have a pressure warning on it and somewhat of a water mark type thing that says r134a or whatever it is. Hope this helps.
