  1. I had the same problem, as Lexus didn't have a receiver available when I bought mine. I found out that Lexus had a wiring harness available part no.08942-48870-BB, sells for about $48, but it's the one that fits the special socket, and includes the trailer socket and a mounting bracket. Until I made a fuss, the dealer told me you could not buy the harness, then they admitted it could be speciel ordered.
  2. If you don't need the wiring harness. you can install the receiver in about 20 minutes. It takes another 45min. to an hour to install the Lexus wiring harness, as you have to remove the plastic compartments left side and compartment door, to connect to the Lexus special socket. They get about $48 for it part no.08942-48870-BB, but I think it's worth it as you can have problems trying to cut into the wiring, and sometimes you need isolation diodes in the wiring circuit.
  3. If you have the trailer towing package, there is a wiring socket under the left plastic compartment in front of the taillight. You have to remove alot of stuff including the compartment door. It is not difficult but takes time if you have never done it. Sells for about $48. Lexus sells a wiring harness, part no. 08942-48870-BB that plugs into the special socket, that includes the trailer socket and a mounting bracket that mounts to your hitch. You would think that the harness would come with the towing package, but they include it with the hitch which was not available when I bought mine last November.
  4. Thanks, What is the controller? Is it part of the Lexus tow package? If not, where can it be purchased? Also, do I have to splice into the taillight harness or is there a connector harness similar to the RX300?
  5. I want to install a wiring harness for a trailer. The dealer can't tell me what I need, or if the tow package includes a harness. It seem's ridicules to offer a tow package with out the means to connect a trailer harness. I don't want to just cut into the wiring without knowing whether I can cause any electrical problems. Any help out there?
