  1. Hello everyone. I am in the market for a 2010 RX350 - with the middle premimum package (Nav, etc.). Don't laugh, but my decision was between a 2010 Toyota Venza and this. I test-drove them within a 1/2 hour of each other and the Lexus won. No comparison. Also I didn't want to buy a car that I would be sorry for after 2 weeks. I will be trading in a 2007 GX470 with just under 31,000 miles. I am the original owner and its fully paid for. I love the car, but the mileage is horrible and it's way overkill as far as size, features, V-8, etc. for me. Any suggestions on how to get a good trade in value for this baby. The RX350 I want is stickered about 47K. Hope to pay 10K or less with the trade-in. FYI: The GX470 is in almost mint-condition. I'm driving another car ('99 Honda) at the present to save the mileage. I hope to buy approximately 6 weeks from now. Thank you in advance for your help.
  2. I am a pretty short woman - 5'3/5'4 and when my husband drives my GX - I am perfectly comfortable. I originally wanted a RX, but have come to really love my luxury truck. Tell your wife there could be worse things in life. ;)
  3. Thanks to all for the write-backs! Don't think I'm going to attempt anything on my own. I'm out of town now - on my annual mommy-money-marathon (2 kids :D ) and was talking to the people at Firestone (trip involves taking kids cars in for State of Mass. safety inspections) and my advice was to let Lexus (not the dealer who I bought the car from) know about the "problem" and see if they can replace the glass. For the price of the car, this shouldn't happen - everything should be close to perfect. I want to make sure that its the factory glass - since I have the rain-sensoring wipers, etc. Its funny - if this happened to me, shouldn't this be more of a wide-spread issue? Also, the Lexus dealer I bought it from is 90 minutes from me and I don't want to waste another trip there. Thanks for listening to my rants. -Kathie
  4. Update - took in to Lexus and they tried to get out the #s and it didn't work - they said it would fade in time. Guess there's no other solution and I'll have to live with it. Could be worse things, I guess. :)
  5. Thanks again for your wonderful responsiveness. I just received a response (edited for length below) from the salesman ( a quick response, I may add) (FYI: I'm not going to attempt the method suggested myself - will bring it in to the dealer closest to me): After talking with the Service Dept., Body Shop, and Detailers the consensus is this. We believe that the markings were made from a grease pen. This is normal. They are used all the time on windshields for inventory and shipping purposes. When I brought the car to the detailers, there were no markings on the window. This leads me to believe that the writing was scraped off prior to us having seen it. We can fix it for you. At your earliest convenience, bring it in. If it is impossible for you to come in, our solution is this. We use a fine grade steel wool and glass cleaner. With some gentle elbow grease it will come off..
  6. I just happened to take a picture this morning - and also noticed another number towards the top of the window - that's a little clearer. Hopefully I can import the photos correctly - here goes. FYI: To see this correctly, you'll have to click on the pictures and scroll. Thank you for your help. I wonder what they used to write this with and how this could ever be taken off.
  7. Hi, all - couple of things I noticed on my new GX 470: The windshield has a number imprinted on it that only shows up when the glass is wet, i.e, rain and early in the morning (dew). This is NOT something that can be wiped off inside or out. My husband thinks maybe it was written with some kind of invisible marker. I asked the guy who sold me the car (I felt so dumb) and he has never heard of it before. The number is 8110 (better than 666 ). I would like it off, but I don't want to compromise the glass. And the Lexus dealer I got the car from is 45 minutes away, so its not that easy to bring in (however there is another dealer closer.) My second thing is probably dumb - well, yeah, it is....we had some good rain (we need it in FL) and when I backed out this morning, I noticed the rear-camera display was pretty murky / foggy - in fact it had some orange blobs on it. It seemed to mostly clear up a little later this morning, but I noticed there was still a foggy mark on it. Is this something that happens from the rain, and nothing to be concerned about it? Thanks for all your patience with me. If you have any ideas, please respond.
  8. Thanks for the tip - somehow I guess I'll figure it out - will have to take some mug shots first, I guess! :)
  9. I think the color is really nice and I'm noticing a few cars of that color on the road - not just Lexus. I'm getting use to the GX - little by little and referencing the owners manual all the time. You and others are right - it does not drive like a truck. I'm happy! :)
  10. You mean "mug shots" of your GX? Just park it in an open parking lot and take some shots of it... Like what I did with my 4Runner friend... Actually what I meant was inserting the photo in the e-mail, but I guess I did it right. Take care and I'll see if I can get some more "mug shots".
  11. Thank you for the kind words. About the issues you mentioned - I will be aware but not worry. I don't think I have KDSS (sounds like a disease :) ) and the nav - well, if I could learn it that would be the first step. I'm happy to be one of the few women posting and hope to hear from a few more. One more thing - any hints to put in a picture in the forums - mine came out kinda weird. Thanks again!
  12. Thank you to all for the great advice. I got my car yesterday - and I love it! Haven't heard any clunks and as far as I'm concerned - I'm not going to worry about it unless it happens, and then I'll get the fix. I'm going to try to upload a picture of the new baby. Thank you again, and I'll be using this site for great reference.
  13. Thank you for replying! As far as the AC goes - well, I live in Fla - so I'll have to live with the engine fan noise. I am really hoping / praying for no clunk. When I pick up tomorrow - I'm going to ask about the "clunk", and anything else pesky I find in these forums. By the way, I really didn't get a chance to check out the color (we agreed over the phone on the color - black is too hot for Florida) - is it close to a silver or like a powder blue. Do you get many comments and/or compliments when driving this baby? I wish it was tomorrow already! :)
  14. Thanks! I'm sure I'll love it...but reading the forum about "clunks" "drones", etc - hope I get a good one without the problems. Does anyone know if many women drive the GX - and if they do - are they happy with it? Thanks again - and I'll let you know how everything turns out tomorrow.
