  1. Hey be sure to share some pics when you finally get your wheel set up on. I would be curious to see what you came up with. Thanks again!!!
  2. Unfortunately that is a very tough question to answer as all types of wheels will require different offsets.....ie, if you want the wheels to have no lip, some lip, extreme lip etc, each offset will be different......concurrently depending on what size wheel you go with your tire sizes may vary also. In a nutshell, there are too many variables to answer this question without a more definitive type of wheel you want to go with, along with diameter and width...... Yeah... I guess youre right!!! I totally see your point. Figure a "newbie" to ask something like that. :chairshot: Thanks for taking the time to point that out Kramer
  3. Where is the Heater Core Control Valve located? What will it look like?
  4. Damn...!!! Ive been to and through all over these posts and others (from other forums) and I cant yet seem to find an answer to a question. So Ill post the question up to see if someone could help me out with this. I would like to know what is the maximum depth and offset combo I could go with, assuming the front wheels are going to set the standard for the following factors for what I want: I would like to have the same size all the way around since I want to prolong the life of the tires by doing 4 wheel rotations as scheduled. Yet I want to get the "flush" look as close as possible (knowing that since the limitations are more strict in the front wheels, the rear "flush" look will not fully pan out) without having to roll my fenders. I dont plan on lowering my car, so I also want to know how much meat on the tire I can get without over sizing the entire diameter of the stock size tire so that I dont affect my speedometer reading. <---- LOL... Did that make sense??? <_< Finally, what size tires would be recommended for this set up, keeping in mind all four wheels have to match size? I also dont want to rub when busting u-turns or going over bumps. Oh yeah.... !!!! A suggestion I did get from a post was to put spacers in the back wheels so that I could "push" the rear wheel out a bit more for the flushed fender look, yet maintain the front wheel size factor in mind for rotation purposes. My concern is that Ive heard spacers are a dangerous thing to put on cause you could lose your wheels while driving down the road. Since I have my young children that I take with me sometimes, I would hate to not factor safety into this whole project. Any thoughts on spacers? Whew!!! Sorry for the long post, but I dont know how to best explain the situation. Thanks everyone for helping out!!!
  5. Anyone know where I can get these tail lights? Cant find them on Ebay. Thanks!!!
  6. Oooops!!! SCHott... you are absolutely right. Thanks for the correction... my bad. Nevertheless... I guess I am wanting to see about getting it done for the cornering lights as opposed to fog lights mentioned. Though I know they (fogs and corner lights) dont serve the same purpose and/or lighting illumination, I just want to see if it is possible to do. Thanks.
  7. A few years ago I owned a Dodge Avenger ES Coupe, after some research on how to turn on and off the fog lights without having to run them on only while the driving lights were on (which is the stock way), I came across the instructions on a "how to". Well I did it, it was soooooo easy, no splicing or even getting more than your finger tips dirty, took literally only 2 or 3 minutes to do. So anyways, I would like to do the same thing for my 92 SC400, but I'm concerned that the electrical things may not match up or work the same way as with the Avenger. So I turn the following instructions over to you Tech/Electrical Guru's to see if you guys may or may not feel this might work, or is there a step that should change. Here are the instructions/"how to" for the Avengers: Take a wire, like 6 inches long maybe( i used like 12g), open the fuse box under the hood, pull up the third from the top black relay in the middle of the box i believe it is(it should be labeled for your taillights, on the fusebox cover), there will be 2 vertical slots, and 2 horizontal slots, stick one end of the wire into the the vertical slot on the right, and stick the other end of the wire into the foglight fuse which is right next to it, im not sure which side of the fuse to put it in, then go in the car and turn on the running lights, the foglights should turn on, if they dont, put the wire in the other side of the foglamp fuse and it should work Idea is when you switch the running lights on, the tail lights also turn on, and the wire in the taillight relay is pushed in the part that sends power to the tail lights, and that wire is also goin to the fuse part of the foglights that needs the power to turn them on. Hopefully something like this could work out. It really, really is a piece of cake to do. I want to do it to my SC but I am just afraid of shorting something out, unless some of you guys think its safe to do so. Thanks.
  8. SCHOTT1984 & GRNSC40095.... thanks a million!!!! I couldn't find this anywhere.... thanks again.
  9. I need to replace a burned out bulb on one of my corner lights but I dont know how to access it? Does the lens just pry out or do I need to remove a panel somewhere? I tried to do a search for this, but couldnt find it anywhere. I also visited local auto parts stores to read up on the books, but no repair manuals were available on this car. Anyone have a link to a "how to" on this? Please help. Thanks!!!
  10. I agree with schott1984... that sounds like some scarry stuff!!! Never done anything like that before, im afraid I would ruin the whole thing and get it all crooked or bubbly. Looks hella nice though!!!!
  11. So then this excessive heat inside the car is common then, and mostly due to transmission? While continuing the research on this topic, I came across another thread regarding this and stumbled upon two proposed solutions to the problem. 1.) An basic transmission service will immediately fix up the situation. 2.) Remove the seats and floor carpeting and lay down DynaMat heat deflecting pads, then put carpeting and seats back in. So anyways, I found those two ideas. Has anyone actually done any of these yet, and did this fix the heat situation for you guys? I personally think Ill try the transmission service first since it seems quite a bit more on the easier side, and im hoping that will fix it up.
  12. Today I noticed my first problem on my SC400. :cries: I am hoping someone will tell me that it is not a problem though. I know its summer time and all right now, temp where I live at today was about 100 degrees and the low for the night was about 70. Point and possible problem being, there is excessive heat coming in or decipitating from under the steering wheel and gas/brake pedal area. I just came in from being out and about. Its 2:30am, im on the freeway, with the windows down and sunroof open, and yet there is incredible, uncomfortable heat in the car's cabin. It feels like a sauna. I step out of my car, and my jeans are all warmed up from my ankles and knees as if they just literally came out of the dryer. Now my friend tells me that these cars run hotter than normal, and that it is normal due to the warmer weather season were in, specially since its a V8. Now he doesnt own a car Lex SC, just his opinion in general. I personally never owned a V8 before and dont know if this is true or not. So therefore Im not sure if this heat factor is normal or not. Temp gauge never goes above half way mark. Plenty of antifreeze in radiator. Climate control setting is at "cold". I even have the vents closed off or "recycling" button pressed on the climate control system, because if I keep the "open vent" button pressed on the climate control system, then heat from the engine flows in through the vents (but thats a given). Anyone else have this issue? Or any suggestions or ideas as to what could be going on? Could it be something relating to my tranny? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all!!!
  13. I know im gonna get this... :chairshot: .... but what is or does BFI mean or stand for? Thanks.
  14. Hey everyone... sorry for the newbie question ... but I keep hearing about too much of an offsetted wheel will "roll" my fenders. What does that mean exactly?
  15. Hello everyone!!! First off, I want to announce that I am the new owner of a 92 SC400... and very excited about it!!! For the most part the car is in great shape in and out. I would say its about an 8 out of a 10 total appearance and mechanical condition. Like most new cars, it did have some things that need attention, and so I thought maybe I could get some help on this from some of you guys. And just so you dont think that I am of the mindset where its all just about me, give me some time to familiarize myself a bit with the car, and I too will be dropping notes, ideas, and help-outs on this forum. Well if I may... here are my questions... mostly general maintenance: 1.) I need to replace the bulb for one of my corner lights, how or what is the best way to access it? 2.) LCD light on my climate control is seems to be out. Could I be overlooking something as simple as a common misconnection in the back, or a fuse some place? 3.) My instrument cluster gauge needles seem to fade in and out in the middle of the whole red shaft/stick. I hope that kind of makes sense, but if not, ill try to illustrate like this. This is the way the needle should look ============= instead it looks like this ---> === ===== === <--- thats my incomplete needle, thats how the lighting breaks up and fades the lighting in and out completing and breaking up the entire length of the needle throughout. Is this a common issue? Easy fix? 4.) To access the sub and speakers in the back, is it easier access through the back seat or trunk? Are there any step by step with pics on here already? 5.) Finally... I want to add on a K&N cone air filter to the stock intake tubing and just remove the stock air filter housing. I noticed that its a square connection on the tubing end. Is there an adapter or do it yourself adapting piece to match the square end of the intake tube to the round K&N cone? Thanks in advance for everyones time in reading this, and the effort in replying to help out a fellow member. By the way... any members in the New Mexico / West Texas area? Any meets going on around these parts of the country?
