Right after starting the engine a smell in the cabin, sometimes odor vanishes and sometimes not. I checked the cabin filter and did not find much dust; also, checked the engine and found no smoke or smell coming from it.
Any insights would be appreciated.

I think I know what the problem is......
My IS350 is the quietest car I have ever ridden in so I think any sort of noise not noticable in a cheaper car can be heard. My IS350 is almost a year old and at times I can hear tiny rattles here and there if the radio is off but can never tell where they come from. I never heard any creak or rattle in my Nissan 350Z but if I think of it, that car was so crude and loud i'm sure there were noises but I could never hear over the engine, exhaust or tires.
So, Lexus is redefining the meaning of luxury! In my experience, only eastern europe cars have these noises now I add Lexus to the list.

The frustrating part is that the owner's manual clearly states this operation, but it doesn't work....
You should call Lexus Corp. and insist on having them investigate why it's in the manual while it does not work. It may be a key fob programming glitch.
-
Yeah they are out to get you, what with the sliding vanity mirror cover and the automatic light in the headliner that comes on when you open the little door, plus the secure holder where the visor won't be flopping down when the car is 4 years old, not to mention the acoustical material to enhance your stereo listening experience. Cheap bastiges!!111!
And because they added those stuff they think that they've to save a buck or half. You see, I am trying to find a good execuse for them ;) .
-
They thought doing it this way saves them buck a car!!!!!
Cheaaaap!!!!!!!!

Can anyone think of a reason as to why Lexus did not make this feature available in the IS?
I can't think they forget something like that!
-
Well, it looks like this is another Lexus (not just the IS) design problem that I and other Lexus cars owners have to live with! I'm sure Lexus service managers will say this is pretty normal as if the normal of Lexus is very different from other cars normal!

The RX350 is famous (infamous) for this. It is like riding a bucking bronco.
===================
That's a good analogy; LOL.
It's very uncomfortable and not suitable if seniors or babies are on board.
-
I agree. If it were smoother trying to maintain the set speed you would have a higher lag time before the odometer gets to where you want it to be.

I am pretty sure it'll spin on icy hilly roads if the cruise is on. Since you're in Canada, did you ever use the CC in winter?
I still believe it accelertes way too much, the weight of the car is part of the equation which tends to drag the car down and backward that's why it tries to compensate by letting too much gas in.
-
Did anyone notice the reaction of the cruise control on hilly roads is too much to the degree I call it "jumpy" this even is not as smooth as a cruise control of a 1990 car. I hope I am the only one who experienced that and then I'll take my baby to the dealership before the warranty expires.
Thanks.

The best place to buy your IS250 around toronto is ....the USA !

Agree 100%!

The IS250 (specially the AWD) is toooooooo heavy for the horsepower that produces. Lexus has to consider trimming the extra steel weight or add at least 50 hp. This is just MHO.
-
Many thanks to all of you.
-
Did any one calibrate the IS250 as to how many miles are left when the car displays zero miles? Also, is it safe for the pump (which is in the tank) to run the car beyond zero mile left?
Thanks.

Does the gas consumption increase when the ECT is on compared to the Normal mode?

Here's the setup and the adjustment procedure. I've done this myself with good results.

Bartkat, this link does not open the PDF file, it requires registeration with http://my.is/. Can you or anyone ellse make the file downloadable from lexusownersclub.com/
Thank you.

The OP was that the headlights were pointing too low. It doesn't matter whether adaptive or not, they can be adjusted to the proper level on the vertical axis.
As for turning, I know a person who travels on a road with lots of tight turns and switchbacks. She complained that the lights often pointed off in the trees because of the tight turns. I told her how to turn the feature off and she was happy with that.
Bartkat, do you know any rationale that makes Lexus set it in the way it's aiming so short?
If I have to turn it off to have a better view of the road ahead then IT'S USELESS.
-
I'm confused. Are you saying the headlights in general almost made you wreck?...or was it while the AFS was swiveling the light that you almost wrecked? Please explain the situation.
The whole set up makes it uneasy to see farther ahead when I drive on curvey dark roads.
-
AFS is useless, JMHO. I did not benefit from it. It rather harmed me, in Feb 06 I almost had a crash because this headlight that does not shed farther than 50 feet. I went to the service manager with this issue. They checked it and said" we calibrated it and it's fine". I shut up. Six months later the same service manager told me he drove another IS at night and he noticed the same problem. He added they can not do anything, this is the way it was meant to function.
-
Well, I thought only my car has this problem. I, also, can't have the Auto on while it's on the internal circulation either. May be it is just a result of the pursuit of perfection.
-
You're funny! You're supposed to answer this question and tell us what happened to your car. Ask the guys what did they do to make that big change?
-
It happened with my var but only once since Jan 06. It is scary but what can you do? <_<

I don't think they should call it a "recall" because it's not Toyota's fault for the ethanol fuel messing up their fuel systems. Ethanol fuel has recently been shown to clog up and destroy lawn mower type engines. I think whoever still has been putting ethanol fuel in their car or truck will get what is coming. They tried to make this new fuel work with existing engines which was a bad idea. This new ethanol fuel has only been around for a few years and look at all the problems already. I promise there will be more automakers that will start seeing problems with engines and fuel systems related to the use of ethanol fuel. Just wait.
Brazil has been using 100% Etahnol fuel for years. Other vehicles including Toyota use the same gasoline; why only Lexus has this problem?

It looks like Lexus forgot to include a fuse puller in m car, or may be the ervice guys used it and forgot to put it back. I tried to pull the blown fuse using a small pliers and the the fuse poles got broken inside. Is there any way to get those tiny pieces out from their place?
Thanks

They don't even have enough service shuttle to pick up and drop off Lexus owners. Complained to Lexus Canada who said "this is something left to dealerships to decide."
