  1. Try this link. There are also links embedded in it. Cross bar removal
  2. That is a good excuse... I still don't understand why you can't pump your own gas in NJ? By the way welcome to LOC! In Oregon it is against the law to pump your own gas.
  3. There are two ways: 1. Adjust the screw on the automatic leveling device on the passanger's side rear axle to shorter or longer. 2. There are adjustment screws on the headlights themselves. A search will reveal posts on the techniques.
  4. Mathematically it is the same lb-ft or ft-lb. Although ft-lb is the usual term.
  5. At the minimum, take it to the dealer and get the situation documented. Once it is on paper you have a start. You'll not get far unless they have had the opportunity to try a fix. Having worked at a dealership you are likely well aware of this. Lexus dealers are generally not like the run of the mill car dealer. Lexus Central keeps a close eye on their dealers and customer relations. There are exceptions and your dealer may be one of them. There are other Lexus dealers to try even though they tend to be spread out.
  6. There are many posts on this forum that discuss alternatives to OEM tires. Tire Rack is another source used by LOC members.
  7. You could try disconnecting the battery for a half hour or so to reset the car's "learning" computer. There will be other things shut off as well but the owner's manual will explain how to turn them back on. It might help and it might not.
  8. Before you go to the labor and expense you are indicating you might try a simple diagnostic procedure. Pull back the rubber collar on the gas pump's fill lever so there is a gap between it and the fill tube. It will allow the tank to fill with no back pressure or vacuum. This is how people fill gas cans. If that solves the problem then trying a different gas station may be indicated. If the same problem occurs then it can't be a venting or vacuum problem since there will be none with the rubber collar out of sealing contact. Good luck.
  9. This may not be the best forum for extensive mods. There are other Lexus clubs on the web that cater to those desires a bit more than does this one.
  10. A lot depends on whether your RX has the "tow package". If not there is a converter box that has to be purchased and put under the rear cargo area. The tow package includes the box and the electrical lead plugs into a pigtail. Not sure if the JCWhitney plug-in will work. Check this thread: Trailer HItch Install
  11. Been there, done that. Maybe you can compare the two procedures and come up with the differences. RX 350 Hitch Install
  12. 2008 RX 350 AWD There is a round post-like appendage that comes out of the rear differential and mounts into what looks like a donut-shaped large rubber bushing. The bushing is located just a couple of inches forward of the spare tire. My garage floor has what looks to be large oily charcoal colored drips under the rear differential at this rearmost point. In inspecting it either the bushing is fluid filled and is leaking or the post coming out of the differential is leaking since a black oily line is coming out of the contact point between the post and the rubber bushing. Does anyone know what this is, if it is a serious problem, and has anyone experienced it? The nearest dealership is 60 miles away and I'd like to be prepared when going there with useful information. The dealership does not have a stellar reputation for service. A search turned up nothing. Thanks.
  13. One more B of A story: My 25 year old Prima account at B of A was supposed to include a free safe deposit box. Instead, B of A had been slipping the yearly fee out of one of my accounts unnoticed. When it was finally discovered I asked for a refund. No way was the response at every level after several contacts and letters. Even wrote to the government without results. Their claim was that I had to specially "request" the free safe deposit box even though it was specified in the signed contract. Since I had opened a safe deposit box account but had not specifically request a free one they were justified in charging the fee. The burden was on me to make them follow the contract. Finally had to file in Small Claims Court. B of A didn't show up in court and the judge was aghast after reading the contract agreement. The judgment was that B of A had to pay back all of the fees and court fees as well. Six months after the error was discovered B of A paid the $600 without the slightest remorse.
  14. I believe the crossbars should have come with the rails at delivery, otherwise what good is the rack? I agree why put the rails on if your not going to throw in the cross bars. The Highlander has always come with and without rails, rails always come with cross bars but not on the 2010 RX350--now cross bars are a $259 option. Roof rack CrossBars [28] $259 [29] $259 [29] http://www.lexus.com/models/RX/features/pricing.html Wow, I didn't realize that the newer models are not equipped with these as standard. My 2008 RX 350 was delivered with the rails and cross bars.. Does anyone know how to remove the cross rails on a 2010 rx350? I bought them as an option but I do not need to use them year round. The dealer installed them but I would like to remove them. Thanks. Removing the cross bars has been dealt with in detail on this forum. Do a search and you should find it.
  15. Actually, the OP said "engine filters" so the first thought would be oil filters. Same reply as all of the others. Go to the Toyota dealership. Online shipping will eat up any minor differences and they don't need to be changed often enough under normal circumstances anyway ("two years ago") to fret over the price if you want OEM.
  16. Assuming you meant RX 350, look at post #5 on this thread. Hitch
  17. Perhaps it was the excellent instructions by the original poster. Not having to go through trial and error is a benefit.
  18. Another way to state it is that everyone has one of those indicators on their own posts. If you have no warnings the status bar is there anyway. Nothing to fret about.
  19. Unfortunately, that is how the cruise control seems to work. It does the same thing on an RX 350. That forum has a post or two about the problem but it is identical to what you are experiencing. Most folks just don't use cruise in hilly country. The constant shifting is sudden and alarming at times. A flash of the computer would fix all of the issues but Lexus doesn't seem to want to alter the shift points for some reason.
  20. That is just how it is. Almost all cars will squeal with rust on the rotors. Here in CA the same thing happens in the summer when the car is washed. It is just something to get used to and does no damage.
  21. It works on the 2008 RX just fine. There still remains a 4 chime alert on start up and the dash warning light stays on.
  22. Mobil 1 synthetic from Costco and Toyota filters from the Toyota dealership. Any quality oil and filter will do if you have a loyalty. 5000 miles in the U.S.
  23. Proofreading appears to be a lost art. Rambling has taken its place.
  24. My 2008 RX AWD got 28 mpg at 45 mph around Yellowstone NP. Realistically, it consistently gets 17 mpg. It all depends on driving habits. If you have to worry about mpg maybe a different car would be in order. P.S. That is about what my 2010 Tundra gets as well.
  25. Perhaps you are being too hasty in your judgment of the members on this site. The members tend to only respond if there is something additional and positive that they can contribute. That is not the case on many other forums. Dodge Ram pick-up owners and Lexus owner may react differently to the same stimulus. It is possible that the people viewing do not have the answers that you are seeking for your model. Others, like me, view the "Latest Posts" from all sub-forums but have no idea how to assist in a problem with anything other than an RX or whatever model they own. That tends to run up the view count. Still others, mostly long-term members, may have viewed the issue you are addressing in the past and do not respond since a solution can be found through the "Search" mechanism. A harsh thread, such as the current offering, would tend to put people off of giving assistance. However, you can consider this post as assistance if you choose.
