  1. The generation before the current Taurus is the one I'm talking about... looks like a retarded catfish.
  2. Until a few years ago, ArmorAll was horrible for plastic and vinyl because it had chemicals in it that would suck the moisture out, causing your colors to fade and the plastic to crack. There's debate now as to whether or not the problems have been solved, but I still refuse to use it on my car due to negative experiences. I know it was still causing problems as of 4-5 years ago, I don't know about the current formula.
  3. oo, what about the Ford Taurus? Not only was it ugly, it had the worst performance of any car I've ever driven (including old caravans).
  4. So I decided to try some of aformentioned product today after removing some of the tree sap (and wax, I'm sure) that's on my hood. 2 words... F***ING AWESOME!!! :o It's like I clay-bar'd my car all over again - the paint finish was smoother than my window glass, so smooth in fact that I couldn't rest my microfiber towel on the hood because it kept sliding off. Then I drove to work and it rained (of course) but when I went to lunch, my paint still looked freshly washed. Suffice to say, I will never be found without a bottle of this stuff in my car again. If anyone has any experience or photos/video feel free to add your input!
  5. If the scuffs are small (microswirls and such) Meguiar's #7 "Show Car Glaze" will work wonders. If they're more pronounced, you might have to apply a few coats of "Scratch-X" directly to the scuffs before you polish. I would follow the polish with some "Ultimate Quick Detailer" and then a few coats of "NXT Tech Wax" or "Gold Class Liquid Wax." This is the formula I used recently and it worked like a charm.
  6. Good to see the Prelude getting some of the respect it's owed. Wish it was the 5th gen though...
  7. 1) Don't use Armorall for your dash!! It doesn't do will in direct sunlight and can cause your dash to wear even faster. I use Meguiar's Interior Detailer, which is safe even on electronics. 2) For the wheels I just spray some wheel cleaner into the lug-holes and then pressure-wash it out. Works fine for me, but then again I wash my car twice a week.
  8. I would never buy the Turanza series - the Potenza's are so much better it's not even funny - But if your dealer won't replace the tires for free, find another Lexus/Toyota dealer and explain your situation. I work in sales, and I know that most dealers will bend over backwards if it means gaining a loyal customer.

The 0-60 time is probably gearing related, but I do think that it's way overpriced considering it looks like it's being aimed at the EVO/STi crowd.
  10. I've heard the KYB AGX shocks + Swift springs is fairly close to OEM, plus adjustability and more performance, and that's about $700. For around $200 less you can go with Tokico HP shocks + Espelir or Daizen springs.
  11. Just go with DVD-Audio... it's still 6 1/2 hours of music per disc.
  12. No offense, but to me that argument is reminiscent of the one smoking advocates use - "My grandpa smoked 2 packs every day and he lived to a healthy 93 years old" or some such statement. There are always exceptions to the rule, and I personally would love to drive a European luxury car, but to me it's not a gamble I'd be willing to take. There are enough reported issues with BMW, MB and Audi to dissuade many people from purchasing one and that's why Lexus became a competitive alternative to the European brands. BTW, congratulations on the LS, but I can't imagine waking up and deciding to drop $90k on a car... who even keeps $100 g's in their checking account?
  13. Nobody's gonna mention the PT Cruiser? Or the Scion xB?
  14. Actually that link was for 275/30/19ZR... the stock tire size for the SC is only ~$130 per tire and they got better reviews than the Eagle F1's. Here's a link to the different sizes - http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes.jsp?ma...XL&i1_Qty=2
  15. What kind of shape is the interior in?
  16. I'm as much a fan of Nissan as I am Lexus, so I feel the need to clarify a few things - 1) With the options you're looking at, the price difference between the G and the IS is bigger than you might think - IS + Sport Pkg + NV Pkg = MSRP: $43,390 -- G37 fully loaded = MSRP: ~$41,500. 2) You need to be sure of what you want from the car. If you want luxury and subtlety, then the IS is definately the right pick. If you want flare and performance (if you plan on tuning it) then I'd go with the G. The IS350 is an amazing car, but I think it is a totally different class than the G37. The "VQ" series engine (in the G) has been ranked in Ward's "top 10 engines in the world" for 11 years straight (it was #1 in 2006). I believe the VQ35DE should be ranked among the RB, JZ and SR series engines in tuneability (I've seen it put down over 600rwhp NA). Plus, the G is available with a 6-spd and has tons of aftermarket support already. But the G will never live up to the Lexus standard of luxury and class. As much as I love the G interior, the L-Finesse strategy has apparently worked. The IS interior is roomier, more comfortable, more ergonomic, more attractive and has more gadgets than just about any car in its class - better stereo, better nav, better interface and better materials than the G37 (plus a real backseat). If you asked me which car I'd take on a road trip, I'd pick the IS hands down. Though which one I'd drive around town with might be a different answer. 3) Paddle shifters come standard with all the ISx50 (except the 6-spd trim) and the automatics have six gears.. The G37 comes in either 6-spd manual or 5-spd auto. 4) Either way you go (special order IS or G37) you're going to have to wait for the car. But if you have to wait to get exactly what you want, do it - it'll be worth it when you finally have it in your driveway.
  17. I need to polish them a little, they're kinda yellow right now. One of the bulbs is out, and I never really use my fogs anyway, so I figure I'll let you take them off my hands. I don't have a price yet, let me get a shipping quote and I'll get back to you if you're still interested. I should have some pics by Monday.
  18. A steady clicking sound is often a sign that your timing belt tensioners are wearing out, but that sound would be coming from down closer to the block.
  19. YES! Find a good write-up and install them yourself, or find a smaller, reputable family-owned shop to do it for you.
  20. I suppose you could buy mine if you wanted...
  21. N54!! ...if you can find a used one <_<
  22. The thing that *BLEEP*es me off the most is that the only thing noticeably wrong with my SC300 is the paint/leather/vinyl. Even then, it looks great at first glance - the paint is rich and glossy, the leather and vinyl are smooth and unfaded - but upon closer inspection there are blemishes everywhere! Nothing big, but I'm a bit OCD so it drives me nuts whenever I find a "new" scrape or rash. I just wish paint and body work weren't so damn expensive. Oh yeah, and the fact that despite my meticulous care, every part will malfunction at some point and have to be replaced. I just wish somebody could design a truly bulletproof automobile. Ah well, c'est la vie...
