  1. I have the opportunity to purchase the shocks and and springs off a 2005 LS430 with Sport suspension. I would like to put them on my 2001 LS, also with sport suspension. The Lexus part numbers don't seem to match up. Were there changes during the 2004 revisions that make these parts incompatible?
  2. I currently have staggered 19" SSR rims on my car. They were there when I purchased it and they look great. I am considering, however, going down to a 18" wheel that I can rotate and that hopefully will ride better. 18" 430 wheels seem to be more scarce and dear than 460 wheels, why I don't know. One wheel company told me that they did not have anything that would be guaranteed to clear the brake calipers on the 430. I saw here a list of some Lexus wheels that can be used, but does anyone know if other wheels, in particular the OEM G35 Sport 18" wheels, would work?
  3. I am looking for 18" wheels and tires for my LS430. Can you tell me the condition of yours and do you have photos? Mac
  4. I have a set of '08 LS460 18" OEM chrome wheels with brand new Pirelli P-Zero Nero tires on them. Size is 235/50-18. I am in Socal. Hello Thanks for your response. My understanding is that the new series LS wheels will not fit the LS430. Does anyone know for sure?
  5. I am looking for 18" wheels, Lexus or otherwise, preferably with tires, for a LS430
  6. I am looking for 2 19" 234/40 michelin tires for a LS430 Alternatively, I need a set of 18" Lexus or SSR GT03 wheels, preferably with tires.
  7. I have a 2001 LS430 with 160K+ miles. The registers swing back and forth. My understanding is that the system senses the amount of heat and adjusts the swing automatically. The swing will also vary if you have pressed the "Dual" control which tells the system whether or not you have a front seat passenger. If there is not passenger, the registers decrease the passenger side airflow and swing and direct more toward you, the driver.
  8. Thanks a lot for the tip. I think that a friend might be able to help me with this test. I will let you know the results.
  9. Mrraj I also have a 2001 LS430 (non-Ultra Moded) and a subwoofer problem. I don't hear a thing from it. How do you know that yours is blown and how do you remove the grill to get to it? Also did you get any pricing for a replacement? I'm in the same situation. Same model car too. How did you resolve this issue? I still haven't found a solution yet. How about you?
  10. Hello A few years ago, I purchased a used 2001 LS430. I enjoy listening to music, but to this day, I have yet to hear a peep from the ML subwoofer under any circumstances. Having read many posts about problems with this sub, I tried the hot wax fix, even though I could not find a tear and never heard the normally associated rattle. Still nothing. Now must move on to other possibilities. Does anyone have ideas? Perhaps the sub is dead? Are there connections that may be loose? Are there fuses that may have blown and if so where are they located? I need help with this. Mac
  11. Randy: I am going to try the fix for my 2001 LS even though I don't even get a rumble from my subwoofer. Could you e-mail me the photos of the process? Regards Mac
  12. I have also have a 2001 LS430. About a year ago, the steering wheel power up/down feature began to malfunction. Now the wheel will retract when the key is removed but will not automatically return to the programmed position when key is inserted again. I read somewhere that there was an earlier service bulletin regarding wires that were too short or binding in the wheel column. I have not had any problems with the mirrors. you probably know that the power mirror tilt-down ( when the transmission is placed in reverse) is disabled when the mirror selection switch is in the middle (not left or right) position.
  13. The auto windshield wipers on my 2001 LS430 don't work as advertised. I believe that the windshield was changed by the previous owner, but the replacement looks just the same as the original and is manufactured by the OEM supplier for Lexus. I do note some bubbles in the tape securing the sensor to the windshield and hope that is the problem. I purchased new tape but am not sure how difficult it is to apply. Since it cost $25 bucks for about a one inch square I would like to do it right the first time. Can anyone give expert tips on changing out this tape?
  14. I read with great interest your solution to the rattling ML subwoofer problem. I have a 2001 LS430 with ML but my problem is that I get no sound from the sub. Does that indicate a different problem or could a torn subwoofer produce this symptom also?
  15. I have never tried to remove it but on my 2001 ls430 I can get to the sub by gently prying off the grill. Is that what you are trying to do? I wish it were that easy. I took it into a car stereo place. They had a difficult time. Ended up removing the back seat to get to a couple center bolts. They replaced the woofer with a JL dual voice coil wired to 2 ohms. Stereo was cutting out. Had to add a kicker amp to solve the problem. Sounds great now $450 and a half a day. They said they would never do another Lexus. Do you have the standard or the Mark Levinson audio system?
  16. I have still not been able to get my sub to work. It does not appear to be torn. Are there fuses to the sub that may be blown and if so where are they?
  17. I have never tried to remove it but on my 2001 ls430 I can get to the sub by gently prying off the grill. Is that what you are trying to do?
  18. If the car has the Mark Levinson stereo, you might want to check to make sure that the subwoofer is working properly. Also some 2001 LS's may have some issues with the auto steering wheel retract and extend feature.
  19. Mrraj I also have a 2001 LS430 (non-Ultra Moded) and a subwoofer problem. I don't hear a thing from it. How do you know that yours is blown and how do you remove the grill to get to it? Also did you get any pricing for a replacement?
  20. amarslex430: Do you have a non-Ultra Ls430, and if so did you find out how to remove the subwoofer? I have been asking the question for a non-Ultra ML subwoofer but to date no one has had the answer.
  21. bb430 I should have asked a different question. How did you get to the subwoofer. Is it a matter of just lifting the cover or must you do more such as remove the rear seat? I recently purchased a used 2001 LS430 but when I put my ear or hand to the sub, I don't hear/feel anything. Is that normal?
  22. I am having a problem with the subwoofer in my 2001 LS430. I don't hear anything from it. Is it possibly blown? bb430 How did you "repair" your sub?
  23. 01 ULTRA: Thanks for your earlier response. Anything new to report on the yoko tires. What 18" wheels did you settle on? Do you know if the 2007 LS rims will work on a 2001 LS?
  24. I have just bought a 2001 LS430 which does not have the parking assist. Has anyone added the aftermarket sensors and if so could you share your experiences and advice?
  25. MendoPaul I am in much the same situation that you were last year. I have recently purchaseed a 2001 LS430 with the sport suspension. My car is shod with 245/R40 19's in front and 255/R40 19's in back. Can you say firm? I would like to keep the suspension under control and responsive but the car seems to throw you around on our bad streets and the tires hum. I am coming from a 1978 Mercedes 300CD Coupe that definitely rides better and handles just as well. What did you finally choose for your new tires? What were your results? I really need some help from the experts in this forum. Is there any tire that will work on this car with these SSR wheels (which look great) or must I chuck them both and go back to the original issue 225/55/R17's. Would it be even better to go to 16 inch wheels as on the base car or would that be incompatible with the sport suspension?
