  1. Very simple, the alarm has volume, it is on right next to the light when you activate the alarm just raise the volume. Thanks for all the reply everyone. I have a 93 ES. and I just don't believe there is a volumn knob for the alarm. There is no button next to the 'mirror control.' Well, I got the key fob to un/luck the doors by following the instruction i found. (great forums here guys) After the doors are closed and locked, the 'security' LED would blink after 15 sec. or so. indicating that the alarm is armed. But i haven't test the alarm yet (make it go off). I take it that it works. I must of tripped something somewhere, because my AC/stereo would not turn on. Only the clock is working, nothing else. man, this sucks... gonna have to take it to an alarm shop.
  2. Hey Everyone.. Thanks for the input. i think i got something down. The 'solid' led indicate that the aftermarket (i think it's aftermarket) alarm is in 'bypass' mode. And I think i got the 'factory' alarm to work. because when I locked the doors... the 'security' (assuming it's factory security system) led blink after 10 sec... (or more). When I unlocked the doors (with key, because my remote doesn't work) the 'security' led went away. So, somehow when I used the 'remote' to unlock/disarm and then turning the key (this is back on monday), I tripped something that caused my remote not to work. It was working fine before just that the alarm doesn't chirp. when i first got this car, it chirps once when lock, and twice when unlock. Now, i'm thinking of reprogramming the system to see if it will accept the remote that i have. o btw, i used a second/backup/alternate... remote and that didn't work. and I did change the remote's battery yesterday to no avail. So i dont think it's the battery dieing. Gonna try the instructions that i found on clublexus.com and see if i can get the remote working again.
  3. Not in his year car.(1993) There is a 'knob'/wheel on the left side of cluster that will adjust the brightness of the cluster needles and backlighting... then there's the 'security' led next to it that indicate if the alarm is active or not. My 93 es does not have the 'volumn' knob that adjust the loudness of the alarm. more wiered news. this morning, i found out the hard way that the alarm / security (factory or aftermarket, i dont know) was active. I unlocked my door with the key (turned once) then opened the driver door.. the alarm went off. I was embarrassingly trying to figure out how to unarm or disable it. (Now the remote does not work) ... tried the key to turn, then the lock/unlocking the doors... Then tried the 'flip switch' on the left side of the 'foot well'. (I noticed that switch last time when i first have this engine cut off problem). all in all, i got the car to start again. and i think this time... i've turned off the aftermarket alarm. gonna get a new remote battery and see if that would make any difference, or just get back my remote to work again (??) But still, how can i get back my factory alarm?
  4. How much would this cost me, what would be a reasonable ballpark?? or is it just involve moving some fuse or connections around? actually, the battery might be really old. i will change battery soon... i cleaned the neg. terminal a month ago. (not too long after i got the car.) then yesterday when i disconnected the terminal, there already buildup.
  5. thanks for the reply ToysRMe. yep. I think it's after market. there is an extra red led next to the 'security' led on the cluster trim. The 'security' led would blink after the system is activated. But this 'extra' led stays solid all the time. anyway. more problem. just now, i went to move my car. I think i diabled the security system all together. I used the remote to unlock. then (unintentionally) used the key turn the door lock once 'clockwise'. got in the car, insert key to starter, heard the usual chime.. then dead silent when turned to 'on' position. Nothing happen as i turn the key. I thought that i activated the security, anti theft, engine cutoff, system. tried to use the remote, nothing happen. the 'door adjar' icon is on... but noticed that it gets dimmer. notice the clock was off. (thought of the power might be bad.. battery is low, etc.) disconnected and reconnect the negative battery terminal. The car seem to start, and run 'normal' Now I lost the security system. Any idea, any one?? a short circuit somewhere?? (because i dropped two screws into the cluster area, right above the starter. one came out but the other is still in there. would this cause the short and messed up the alarm??)
  6. Hi All, Got my 93 Es300 from a distant friend back in April/May of 07. paid $1000 for it. the body is alright. got scratch/dent on the passenger door. the driver seat stiches is ripped. there are coffee stain on the driver carpet. The needles were burnt. and most of all, it was about 168k miles. dont know much of it's history. Well, my mechanic said the timing belt would last another year or so... Just changed the tranny fluid and the oil. been driving it.. mainly on weekend. but recently discover that the power steering pump or the hose of the ps is leaking. hence making the whinning noise when turning the wheel and got funny smell (from the fluid evaporating)
  7. Dear All, I was trying to fix my burnt out cluster needles. So, i disconnected the battery(neg). next thing i know is that the alarm chirp doesn't sound when i lock / unlock my car. The Alarm/security system still active. any idea?? is there a switch or something that flipped?? Now i have to look at the light to verify if it's lock or not. Please help.
  8. I have a 93ES300. Same problem. I hope this is not a dead post... there are 'greese' on the engine, just under the cover. do i have to get any parts to replace... or just tighten things up??? .. =) any instructions ???
  9. Hi, My driver side seatbelt buckle 'guide' is broken. it was already broken when i bought the car. The portion of the seatbelt frabrice around the buckle, rub against the rough, broken edge is ... fraying.... =X' It not that bad to me. just the edge. the belt itself feel good and strong. I should have the seatbelt replaced. /cheers
  10. Dear All, First time, Newbee here. As I ment for this thread to be a a starting point for job done and cost assocaited with the job. If this is not appropriate, please forgive me. Anyway, I went to the mechanic yesterday to check on my 93ES. It stalled twice within 2weeks time. it jerks around 1000-1500rpm. I was able to restart it right away. So, the mechanic grab the diagnostic code. I saw that it was blinking 2 -4 -3 - 1. I looked it up in this forum (thank you all very much) and directed to the BAT site (www.troublecodes.net/lexus) it was 24: IAT Sensor signal & 31/32: Air Flow meter signal. at first the mechanic was gonna remove/replace the parts that house the sensor. he said it would go for more than $200 for a used one. as he was getting ready to replace it. he clean the 'hoose'. and found that the hose itself was broken. so, I paid $130 for the hose. My big quesion for this post is... Is that a fair price? $130 to replace the intake hose. Thank you all.
