  1. This is real helpful!! I'm trying to replace the same sensor on my 97 es300. Though mine seized up pretty good I haven't had any luck on loosen it, so i'm gonna soak it with liquid wrench every night for a good week and try it again. It is a really tight space on the top trying to get pass the hoses, I had to separately put the socket on the sensor 1st then click in the ratchet on the socket. There's not too much room to maneuver around because your upper arm is restricted by the hoses, but my lower arm has enough room to do the job. But hope it comes loose soon! But thank you for your instructions from 4 years ago!! :)
  2. Thanks for the safty precausion, and yes I found the sensor and looks really hard to get to from the top. I think i'll just go ask a mechanic to swap it for me. <_<
  3. Hi Everyone, Check Engine light came on recently on my 1997 ES300, OBD scan showed P0135 Oxygen sensor heater circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1). Now I assume I just need to change the O2 sensor itself, so I want to locate this B1S1 sensor. After downloading the 97 ES300 service manual, I found some discrepancies in the manual about the location of the sensor: I know Sensor 2 is the downstream sensor on the exhaust, but Im confused about the location of Bank 1 and Bank2 One of the pages showed: And the other page: Clearly 1st pic showed the B1S1 is on the front of the engine whereas the 2nd pic showed the B1S1 on the back. So exactly which one is right? From my research looking at a 94 and 2000 model it seems like the second pic, which is between engine and firewall. I just want to make sure. And also, is changing the sensor actually the right remedy for this problem? P0135 is the only code surfaced. I appreciate any suggestions you can offer. Thanks so much!!!
  4. Dude, I thought I was unlucky, if I find that happening to my Porsche (if I had one) those rats will be kept alive, hang up-side-down, and tortured. I got my car fixed cost my $200 towing and fixing, I could have done it myself if I had a portable soldering iron, but I wanted to make sure the rat didnt chew anything else. Now mouse traps and rat poison are the new additions to my engine compartment :)
  5. A normal Saturday afternoon as I try to start my car and it would not start, the sound doesn't seem like the battery was dying so I popped the hood to see if there's anything else unusual, and there it is-a big fat furry rat sitting right next to the engine I first thought the sun was playing tricks in my eyes, but then i noticed the sun was not there, but the rat was and its real! The little f***** quickly jumped down and disappeared into the alleyway, as I inspected the engine compartment I found that 3 wires were chewed up by the damn rat, I was in shocked and completely speechless...0.o I live in Baltimore city and rat is a big problem, they dig up your trash but I just never thought they can easily climb up from underneath, chew up some wires and make you late for work! So aside from the fact that I'm still shocked by the ridiculous f-ed up story, I have no idea what the rat did to my car =P, take a look at the pictures, could someone help me ID these parts, what did the rat chew up? Why won't the engine start? Will this be a pain to fix? How much do you think its gonna cost to fix? Thanks! And someone please tell me this is not a sign of the end of the universe =) Three wires to Two connectors were chewed up: Connector#1: Connector#2: Connector#2:
  6. Hello Everyone, I have a 97' ES300 with 138k miles on, very reliable car I had it for two years. But ever since I got it I could hear this 'clunk' noise coming from the front right side of the wheel everytime I drive over a dump while the car is cold, i just goes 'clunk clunk'. when the car warms up the noise goes away, which is usually within 10 mins of driving. I am wondering how serious of a problem this is? Do I need a strut replacement or there's simply a loose nut? Should I ignore this problem or spend $200 (just a guess on the price :P) fixing it, which is not a big deal to me if $200 can do it, but I rather save the $200 for a xbox360 if the problem is not at all serious. Any advise is welcome Thanks in advance!
