Yep you're right. Any trailer company should have a universal wiring kit (hot wire). I was trying to find him a T-Connector that he could do himself as timing is a bit of an issue & a vehicle specific T is not available for his car. I guess there isn't much demand. :)

Bad news, I don't think a vehicle specific wiring kit is available for your vehicle. I was looking for a T-Connector - the plug-n-play type wiring kit. I checked Draw-Tite/Hidden Hitch, Valley & Curt (big hitch manufacturers) - nothing. I'd either call your closest Lexus dealership, a truck accessory or RV dealership. Most of those types of businesses can hard wire the wiring for you. Lexus would be your best bet as you're dealing with electrical issues, but it's usually a bit expensive. Sorry!

It's your responsibility as a consumer, especially where a contract has been signed, to be diligent. If the consumer paid $4k too much - over contract amount - they would get their $$ back (in court - which would cost $8k!). This all goes back to a signed legal contract. You owe what you agreed to pay on the signed contract. That's why you need to read everything before you sign a legal document.

I was refering to S/1's point about the car not being able to tell the difference if the object is still in the way or not. People still need to actively participate in driving, including mirrors - open, closed or otherwise. SW's comment: For one thing automatically unfolding the mirrors when you have affirmatively folded them would make the folding fucntion useless. The purpose is so that you don't bump the mirrors on close objects while parking. What would be the point of having them unfold and bang into whatever you had folded them to avoid? Makes no sense. S/1's comment: but how would the car know when it's ok to open the mirrors back out? Let's say you push a button and the mirrors fold in so you can get in that tight spot. You leave, now you come back and get in the car, start it and???? the mirrors automatically open now? bumping into what you closed the mirrors for in the first place? And what if it's to get by somebody elses mirror or a protruding object, or just a tight door way? When would the mirror be okay to open automatically? And by the way, from the scenario you put up on the first post, you should be glad that the car didn't open the mirrors automatically, because the wife never even checked and would have ripped them off backing out!

Maybe no news is good news. Generally when there's an issue, the forum members advise en mass. So, I'm thinking this is another quirk with the vehicle.
