  1. Something else they left out in drivers ed..... :( Maybe it's cuz I didn't live up their my whole life, neither did my parents. No to the ice fishing (or even regular fishing) - yes to watch the houses fall into the lakes every year cuz people didn't move them in time. The protected life you led.........

  3. I'll see what I can do for the pics. As for the tint on the tail lights, I had them on, but later took them off. I guess I should have put this in my thread earlier. I ran into 2 problems with them. One was that the taillight on the IS 300 is soooooo curved, that no matter what I seemed to do or how I positioned it, there was a crease somewhere in the tint.( I am a perfectionist and that alone was enouph for me to want to just peel them off), and the second problem that I ran into I think happened more because of the first problem than anything, and that is that I think because I kept trying to work the crease out I over worked the tint and the edges started to lift up after about a week. And we just can't have that. So I took them off. And because I still haven't decided what exactly I want to do back there I just haven't messed with it since. And by the way, even if the pics don't turn out great in the post, trust me, just buy them and put them in. They look just way to cool. B) Ah I see, yeah I'd probably cringe, too, if I found a crease in the tint. I was just curious because you took a different approach in the tint, rather than purchasing those black chrome jdm tails from lextasy, or the black "jdm," ones they have on ebay. I'm currently thinking of painting my own headlights and tails black, but I'm somewhat scared, after hearing/reading stories (cracking/melting housings, lights not working after, etc). I just can't see paying $300+ for something you can DIY. Maybe I need to stop being such a cheap !Removed!? The headlights were alot of work. I started with a new set of headlights and just built them at my own pace in the garage. That's how to do it in my opinion. If you decide you want to do it. PM me and I'll help you all I can. If you want me to make a set for you, Pm also. I want this thread to be about modifying my IS, not a sales thing you know? I don't like any of the taillights I've seen. While they are different, I just don't like em. So, in reality, I think I will be taking the tail lights off and opening them up also and blacking those out from the inside. Then I can control just how dark I want them. And now that I have a good LED source, I was thinking that when I get to it, I'll use brighter LED's and really black out the taillights. We'll see....

  8. I ran my Pilot Sports for 4 winters here in the upper midwest with no problems ;) Really?? Come on..the 3 main grooves run parallel with the tire!!! What, did you put chains on em? or those traction boot things?? well, yeahhh.....Do you know how much tires can effect the ride and cornering? B) , Only the best for my "baby". Seriously, 4 winters, Winters haven't been bad here and the roads are plowed and salted/sanded. Now ice is a different story...............I used to run Blizzaks in the winter and they wore out and decided not to go with a winter tire. I am considering getting another set :D Oh, I see. I guess when I remember back to the Wisconsin misery months, I think of needing a Delorean twin trac and thermos full of whiskey...LOL

  10. I haven't had any since my grandpa died, but he used to make some moonshine that would take the chrome off a bumper. I think I passed out once just sniffing the cork. Anyway, he had some "special brew" he and my dad called the " Brew-haha". , and they would go into the cellar and proceed to go neuclear. (that's what we called it when you got ripped on everclear.) My dad, grandpa and myself only ever got to do that together once. It's one of the best " almost" memories I have. So I have this bottle with it looks like 7 or 8 oz. in it. It's the last of the "brew-haha." I think I have just enouph to get ripped one last time should the right moment ever happen. But until then I just look at it and remember.

  12. Have you changed disc brake pads out before?
  13. Okay, I have the new Michelin Pilot S's on the car. VERY FRICKIN NICE!!!! They look great, they feel great. I am very happy. the only complaint I have is the same complaint I have with all the performance tires. On really course textured roads they can carry the noise. And on expansion joints the ping can get loud also. But that's it. Thankfully I live in Florida also where I can have these tires on my car year round. As much traction as these tires have, I don't think they would work that well in snow. LOL!
  14. I went in 05'. I was in Vegas for a the Decor show and had some "extra" time. That was a HUGE show. very cool stuff every where you went. Show car-------> Passion
  15. Consumers don't seek truth, they just know lies. There are many ways to advertise, but there are certain truths that cannot be escaped and one of them is false advertising ALWAYS backfires. I studied marketing in college and started, ran, and sold a marketing consulting firm. Marketing is at the core of everything I do, and I'm pretty good at it. Hyundai can never compare to Lexus, and the ads don't say that it does. In fact they say "Hey, its not a Lexus (or a BMW, or whatever), but it has a lot of features and its cheap!". Thats the basis for the whole ad, its genious. If the ad truly compared the Hyundai to the Lexus it would fail because consumers know thats a lie. Plenty of companies have tried it...and its always failed. Thats why a campaign showing a broken down Camry would not be successful, consumers don't question Toyota's reliability. If you're going to design an advertisement that makes a statement like that, it has to reinforce a stigma that the consumer already posesses. All you can poke at the Camry about is being boring, and everybody else already does that. The whole point of Hyundai's campaign however is that they're featuring luxury cars not their true competitors which are Toyota, Honda, etc. An ad featuring a midmarket car wouldn't fit in with the campaign. Another thing I love about the ads is that they are POSITIVE! I love that. They are showcasing their product without denigrating their competitors! When is the last time you saw a comparative ad that did that?!? Have you seen the Motor Trend article where Hyundai askes for the 2008 Genesis to be compared to the Lexus GS? In fact Motor Trend does, and includes comparisons to the BMW 5 series, Mercedes Benz, Infinity M, Cadillac CTS, and the Chrysler 300. Hyundai wants in the luxury market. Look at the Veracruz and tell me what they were looking at when they designed that SUV. Everyone knows that Hyundai has been modeling itself after Toyota for years. Remember when their commercials of a Hyundai accent following a Toyota Carrolla and a Honda Civic around for 100,000 miles?
  16. congrats on the lexus...Now go out and find some good red light races!!!!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ;)
  17. Generally speaking, if you have what they call "movement" in your rims, and by the way, just about everyone does, does, spped bumps, pot holes and the likes can slightly bend any rim, depending on how severe that movement is, you may need to have them do a Force Balance on all the tires. Also, you should find out if you have water in your tires. Sometimes if you use gas station air pumps especially, they can have alot of water in their air lines, and if you put that into your tires it will cause imbalance issues. You can usually tell if in the mornings when the tires are still cold, the car feels wobbly, then as the tires warm up it kinda goes away. But later, especially at higher speeds it can come back, or if you stop and go alot.
  18. I have been scouring the web looking for turbo and supercharger kits for my 05' IS 300. there is a bunch out there, but I am looking for something " special". Anyway, to be honest, I haven't seen a whole lot for the IS 350 or the 250. The most I have seen anywhere is here : http://www.l-tunedparts.com/index.php I mean if you click on IS 300 performance parts, you get 3 pages of stuff. Click on the 250 and you get 3 items. I guess the car is still too new.
  19. Michelin Pilot sports. You get these and theres no lookin back. I went from stock Dunlops, to Bridgestone S3's, and just switched to the Pilots. I can't tell you how much of a difference there is. Response is amazing, ride is smooth and quiet, grip is unreal, and they look fantastic. the only "complaint" that I would have is the one that I have for all the performance tires Iv'e used. One very course textured roads they do carry the sound more, and the ping over expansion joints can get loud also. But overall, the Pilots are soooooooooooooooooo worth the money. Wait, wait a minute. I just looked at where your from. You have snow season there. I live in Florida. Here it just gets hot and rains alot. We can use them year round. You'll need all season tread designs. Then I would go with the Goodyear Eagle F1 all seasons. Very nice tire. High performance tire with a very nice profile, and it has great snow season capabilities.
  20. Oh this is getting good now. I wish I had the time to respond, but I gotta go. <_<

  22. Welcome to the LOC. I'm not taking anything away from Hyundai and their acheivements. But let's not forget that Toyota has had the Camery and Corrolla 2 car's with a solid reputation for 20 years. Nissan has the Maxima and Sentra, and Honda has the Civic and Accord. While every other car manufacturer has volleyed their line up. What car in the Hyundai line up can you point at and say for my 30+ grand, I am buying confidence if quality and reliability? That is exactly what I stated in my earlier post here.
  23. I don't know that you have to got to the dealership to have this done. I would go to reputable repair shop in your area and have them do it. It will probably cost a couple hundred or so. It's a 4 hour job. So it will be what ever they charge per hour.
  24. Welcome to the LOC. Your gonna like your new ride alot. Although, the factory head unit is pretty much known to have alot of troubles with the cd mechanism. I can't tell you how many posts there are in here with cd player problems. So, I tell you like I tell them all, 1- pull it out and fix it, it may keep happening though. There doesn't seem to be any trick to fixing them. 2- If you really want stock, buy a another stock unit. You can get them on ebay, I think bartkat here in the LOC sells em. I have a barely used one for sale. 3-Go aftermarket.
  25. They needed a marketing campaign that would appeal to the masses in the Middle America, especially to those in the 30 something crowd. We we're the generation that invented DUH - maybe a bit of nostalgia would draw in a few prospective customers. I guess for your needs, you need something a bit more stimulating? Hit me with your best ad. slogan: You mean my own or an exsisting real one?
