I have alot of exper. in rims and tires, and when you start redrilling, changing offsets, and outside tire dimensions, your asking for trouble. If it works out, and sometimes it does, then great, but if it doesn't your stuck with a set of redrilled rims that you don't want to use and probably can't sell. SKperformance is right. Arrising issues can be range from rim movement, speed wobble, broken lugs, accessive bearing wear, etc.etc.( I actually knew a guy who cracked a spacer, and snapped lugs going over railroad tracks!! after I told him the rims he wanted are going to be trouble.) I try to avoid wheel spacers at all costs. And I recomend that to everyone. So over the years, I have come to the conlclusion if the rims don't fit, they don't fit. It's usually not worth the risks.

When it comes to electronics, the general rule of thumb is that you get what you pay for. Orion has nice stuff and they have the cheap stuff too. So, here's the real questions. 1) What are you looking to accomplish with your new audio system? Are you a thumper? or just want more bass for better sound? How much space in your car are you ok with losing? 2 10" in a box takes up space and becomes an object you have to deal with. Are you only adding s sub system or looking to replace and expand the rest of the system also? 2) And here is the key, how much moolah are you looking to part with? If I'm not mistaken those rims he has are core replacements. You can have your rims electro-chrome plated, or, if they have them in stock, you send them your rims as a core and they send you a set that have already been chromed. You can ask him yourself though.

I'm not clear on your question. Are you talking about in the feed spout itself? or like a plastic catch at the bottom of the punch door? Can you post a pic and point to what you mean?

are the rims OEM? and for what car? and does he want OEM or aftermarket center caps?

I don't know, I think your gonna have to elaborate more on that theroy. I agree, there can be some cost cutting in materials, but the devolepment and casting a whole new design instead of using an exsisting one? And maybe taking some good designs and "improving" them a little has to be cheaper.
