  3. No Love in the IS 300 Forum? I started to help, and you last post was: Post #3 New Club Member Group: Regular Member Posts: 3 Joined: 24-May 07 Member No.: 44,301 Car Model:2002 IS 300 Location:Melbourne, FL Thanks for the support Smooth. Kind of wanted to give an update in case anybody else come across this problem. I wanted to keep the stock Nav so I was looking into replacements... however today just for kicks I decided to turn my Nav back on and it had reset itself. So after the dealing saying I was screwed and asking for $1900 and looking at replacements at around $400, I now have my old Nav working just as good as it did before. I wish I knew what happened to reset it, but I haven't even opened the screen for about a week because seeing the error message was *BLEEP*ing me off so much. If anybody wants to theorize go for it, but I've tried to get it to error out again with no luck; I can do everything just fine. At this point, I'm just happy I have a working Nav back.
  4. You'll need to wet sand it and the surrounding area real good. That should help "blend" the repair area. Then I would have the whole area, plus, re-clear coated.
  5. Turbo is here.

  7. Post a pic of the rims your lookin at. I wanna see.
  8. No there won't. You see, the religions they follow will never let it happen. The tribes of Isaac will allways battle the tribes of Ishmael. As they both feel they are the first born to Abraham and inhereitor of the kingdoms of Abraham. It's in the bible, and that score will never be settled. That is what all the original fighting was about. So, even if we pull out, the russians already lost and pulled out, and the rest of the Asian continent were to be at pease, they would simply take up that cause again and fight over who gets the land that thier god says they get. Then throw on top of that the Muslims of Islam, and the wars will never end there.
  9. And only because this was my favorite show as well, The openinfg dialogue was actually, "Steve Austin, astronaut. A man barely alive. Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic man. Steve Austin will be that man. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster." But you very close enouph..... ;)

  12. You can put some gauges there if you want. Parking 17 did it. They looked pretty good! I don't think he was running any boost. The way it generally works out is the more accurate you want the gauges to be the more they will cost. But only as a general rule per say.Maybe you could go with an engine analyser or mgmt. system. Of course those can get expensive. Ok Jesus, I know youv'e been looking around trying to find what is right for you to mod your ride. You don't have alot of cash, and you want to get the most you can, but you also want to like it. I feel ya. But you have to realize that no one thing is gonna do it. You have do "stack" your mods in order to get the full effect. So, if your strapped for cash, do the small stuff first. Then do a big mod, and then some small ones again. Soon, you'll have a direction. Look, I took the stock antenea off and put a 4" super rod there. Cost 40 bucks. I took the stock shifter knob off and put a leather and chrome one on for 30 bucks. Tinted the winodws for 150 bucks. Paint the brake calipers for 30 bucks. Any one of these things by itself and no big deal, but when you see them all together it starts to take on much bigger effect. So do all the small ones, and get your DVD/Nav. system in. Wait on the gauges until your sure.
  13. Yes, you in fact are looking at the leather upgrade. New it was a $1350.00 upcharge. 04' with 41,000 miles? 20k? That is a good deal. I would look over the brakes and tires closely. If they need to be replaced then I would negotiate that off the price. If you can get that car for around 19.5k, snatch it up and run. Clean, low mileage IS 300's are hard to find. Even if you pay an extra grand, I would will drive away one sweet ride. A couple things to look for also, Does it have the heated seats option?,,,,,2 postion memory seating?,,,,,and the flip open compartment on top of the dash?,,,,Also, when you pull the trunk release does it open the trunk lid most of the way? or just unlatches the trunk?,,,,,,Does the car have the spoiler?

  19. So, did this answer all of your questions?
  20. From your description, I don't think you have an amp issue, you may have a speaker issue. It sounds like the cone suspension may be worn out and the voice coils have stretched out. Before you go out and buy a new system, I would get another speaker and hook it up and see if that fixes the problem first.
  21. 1) Most stock speakers have a foam surround that suspends the paper cone. I suspect that has deteriorated and therefore the voice coils are bottoming out. The speakers will have to be replaced. 2) First of all, why on earth would you prefer conventional oil to synthetic? If you knew the unfortunate truths about conventional oils, and the tech. that goes into sythnetics no a days, you wouldn't even consider conventional oil anymore. My family races everything from motorcylces to mustangs, and I've torn countless motors down and rebuilt them. If you saw a motor after just 15 hours of racing on conventional oil, versus 40 racing hours on synthetic, you would be amazed!!!!!!! 3) You have a throttle cable hang up or the throttle itself is getting stuck. Open the hood locate the throttle cable and where it is connected to the throttle body lever. If you don't know where it is, have someone get in the car and step on the gas peddle while you look under the hood. You will see it move clock wise and counter clock wise. You might want to use wd-40 and claen that area out real well. Make sure the lever is easy to move with you hand,( as this will eliminate the peddle function.) then I would use some grease and apply it to the open area of the cable and allow it to slide into the rubber cable jacket by opening and closing the throttle with the cable. That should fix the issue. If it is the Throttle lever and not the cable, It rotates on an axle and is spring loaded. You can unattach the cable, and remove the lever, and replace it, or clean it better and lube it from the inside. 4) Be careful of buying key blanks for Lexus. They use a chip that is built into the key, that chip has to match the ECU or it won't work. You can program it to unluck the car and the trunk, but when you insert it into the ignition, it won't start the car. I would inquire with the LExus dealer to confirm that. 5) To fix your steering wheel, there is a topic that covers that issue in the car care forum for detailing. I think it's a pinned topic at the top. I would read that.
  22. This is all correct. Which is why manufacturers of let's just say mid performance vehicles for a lack of a better catagory description use 87 octane. The optimal ratio is 12.5:1 for 87 octane. ( A/F mixture also plays a big role in all this.) So for some "cheap" hp, they run a higher compression ratio, lower octane recomendation, and set the vehicle to a richer A/F mix. That is the Ford standard formula for "Built Ford Tough." And many car manufacturers use this formula because of the obvious advantages. But when you start running leaner A/F's, lower compression and tighter valve tolerances and timings, 93 octane contains more power.Compression is directly related to power, so engines that require higher octane usually deliver more power. Engine power is a function of the fuel as well as the engine design and is related to octane ratings of the fuel... power is limited by the maximum amount of fuel-air mixture that can be forced into the combustion chamber.
  23. OK, well most "stock" street cars run 12:1 or as high as 14:1 and only require 87 octane to reach Manufacturer stated hp and fuel mileage. They can run 93 octane, but it's not required. On the IS300, 10:1 isn't considered real low, but on the edge of it. That and the VVTi combination, especially in the higher rev range, 93 octane becomes not absolutely neccassary, but more so than in other cars. The big debate has allways been, low compression with high boost, or higher compression with lower boost. Which is right. I think Lexus went with a lower compression on the IS300 because it makes the car much more "workable" for a change. generally speaking, higher compression motors allways have to be torn down first before you can boost them enouph.
  24. Actually, it is for the extreme in either direction. When your running full race cams and very low compression, just to keep it started you have to run 108 or higher.
