  1. In order for the system to work correctly, you would need to get the sensors from Lexus. You have two positions that can be programmed into the ecu for two different sets of wheels. There is a button on the passenger side to switch between the two sets. The dealer must program them into the ecu for this to work. Then all you need to do is change the position of the button to whatever wheels you are using. I learned some of this when I got my new 2007 SC and the dealer swapped wheels at purchase time and they forgot to re-program the ecu with the new sensor codes. I live 175 miles away from the dealer and about an hour into the trip the sensor light came on and stayed on. When I got home I studied the manual and tried to reset it after checking the actual pressure in the tires, but it did not work. The solution was to go back to the dealer and get the proper codes input to the ecu. Now all is well <g>.
  2. The biggest problem with Verizon phones is that "generally" Verizon disables many of the Bluetooth profiles and won't allow you to push your phone book to the car. I have used a LG VX-8000 and a Motorola K1M with fairly good luck on the audio connection, but neither will send the phone book to the car. The connection is stable for the most part and I can get out to pump gas etc. and it will stay connected. Seems to hang on until about 20 to 30 feet and then drops. It does re-connect when I get back into range most all the time with the Motorola, less so with the LG. The audio on the SC is better than my LX, mainly because of which speaker and the location of the speaker it uses. Otherwise they are the same. You will get a signal strength display from the phone too. That is nice to have. You may want to check with someone who has a Blackberry or one of the newer smart phones as I have heard that some of them have more of the Bluetooth profiles enabled from Verizon. If that is so, they may let you send the phone book to the car....
  3. To my knowledge, there is NOT a controller in the vehicle. If there would be, there would be some place to adjust the gain etc. I think you need to add one if you want electric trailer brakes. There is no mention of a factory installed one in any literature I have found. This is my third LX 470 and I have never seen any info on any of them about a controller.
  4. The parts you see on the bumper are not cameras, they are the near IR emitters. The camera is by the center rear view mirror. All you would do by blocking part of the emitters would be to possibly reduce range and clarity.
  5. Yep...I agree with that. If I do have to do brakes, the rotors will be turned or replaced. No way will I just add new pads. That is a recipe for disaster.
  6. I have also been looking and the Vaistech people said that there would not be a text display using their system with the SC 430. They said that the SC 430's radio did not support text, so I have not purchased anything yet. I would also be interested in a good solution if anyone finds one that will work.
  7. It is under the lower part of the dash under the trunk and gas door buttons. It is listed in the owners manual, and there are instructions on how to do it (at least on my 2007 it does). Basically you make sure the tires are where they are supposed to be for pressure, and then push it for I think three seconds with the ignition in the on position and then it should reset the light. Check your manual to see if it is the same for a 2004 model.
  8. I have had three LX 470's a 2000 that had original brakes and tires at 88000 miles when traded for a 2003. I ran that one for 58000 miles with original tires and brakes and the third one is a 2006 with currently 48000 miles. Original brakes and tires still. I don't know why some of you have such lousy brake life. Mine are still over 50% at this time. Weird, I guess..
