  1. Ok so i have a 91 Lexus LS400and the ignition was getting choppy to turn---i first bought a new key from the dealer and it kinda fixed it----recently it left me at the grocery store and i bought a used ignition. Really kinda sucks because now i have a key for doors/trunk and one for ignition. THe Key i got w/ the ignition is one of the remote keys though which my old one wasnt. Unfortunatly it is missing half the key and battery. I called Lexus dealer in Raleigh, NC and they said i cant just get cover and key was 200+ but to get a key is tough, need like title and birth certificate...lol--- Anyways anyone know somewhere i might could buy the half odf the key? my other question is can I get the new key to run the lock/unlock on mine? Thanks for any help
  2. I put 20" wire rims on my 91 Lexus and have been having similar issues. The brake caliper isn't actually close but there is this metal bar than runs from one side of the piece the caliper mounts to the other. I have taken a grinder and made it about half as thick as it was now---not really sure how safe that was. As far as the rubbing on the fender there is no fix----mine dont rub no more becasue the fender is actually been rolled in at the bottom now...just kinda makes the gap between the door and the fender kinda wide. I bought these acorn looking spring raising things from Advanced Auto to raise the front of my car (Buy the ones that say for the back--a little bigger) and they twisted right in and give me like 1 1/2 more clearance... Anyways, your car looks nice and good luck. I was gonna post a pic of mine but i dont have enough global space left or somethign...... its in the gallery on this site though http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...&cmd=si&img=662
  3. So after I first put my 20" rims on my car I kinda noticed when it was raining or I had washed my rims I would get this noise I can only compare to a train stopping. REcently it is starting to happen about every other time I use my brakes so i figure it must be something else. I replaced the left side front caliper about 7 months ago and the right side about a week ago. I replaced the brake pads, had the rotors turned, and replaced the hardware kit (the clips that hold the pads in the calipers) about a week ago also. As soon as I left off the brakes the noise quits and it kinda seems like the faster I stop the better it is..kinda gets louder if Im slowing down to stop. I can also hear this noise at low speed that sounds like something rubs about every full rotation of my tire. Anyone else had this problem? I just replaced the water pump, radiator, and alternator a couple weeks ago and I dont want tit to break down on me now----I've got a lot of time in this car but I love it and hope to have it a lot of time... Thanks for any help in advance.
  4. This is my Lexus---consumes all my time but worth it
  5. So I caught one of ebay for $76 if you can believe that and now im getting a EGR system code but it runs a lot better.... I wasn't goig to get the Ebay one because recently Autozone and Advanced Auto Parts are carrying remanufactured ones. They are $300 dollars--- still alot but not as much as the dealer.... Thanks for the help and info guys
  6. I have a 91 Lexus LS400 and recently it started to run bad. It kinda hesitates or stumbles trying to accelerate sometimes. I pulled the instrument cluster and replaced my check engine light bulb where someone had removed it. I'm getting code 24 which is an open or short in the intake air temp sensor circuit. The Air intake is built into the MAF sensor. I know alot of Hondas and Acuras are using the MAF sensor for their engine mods. Does anyone know where I can purchase one besides the Lexus dealer? I dont want to have to pay the 750 dollars or whateer it is. Thanks
  7. there are holes behind the 'L' and 'LEXUS' emblems. I just got finished painting mine and almost filled them in but decided not to.
  8. I can't find a coilover that is above factory height. I'm going to try this weekend to bottom out the rear before it hits the tire and just deal with the eough ride so I can put my stereo in it.. The wires are true knockoffs and do have the adaptors and I had to get a lip on the outside so my spinners would fit----I guess everything is give and take.... Anyways, maybe I'll figure something this weekend and let everyone know...
  9. I'm pretty much done now---looking to buy a couple interior pieces....I have the peanut butter interior....
  10. You should be able to call a local paint supply store or nice body shop and they should be able to mix you a little of any color you need----they can get the cladding color from your paint codewith the computer they mix paint with. I imagine it would be cheaper and local...good luck
  11. I live in Wilmington, NC... It looked like Teins only had lowered springs but I'll call them to find out I guess... I'm thinking it's just too big and poking out too far.... I'm gonna try to makr it bottom out before it hits the tire and just deal wit the bad ride.... I'm trying to fill the back seat with honeys...
  12. I have a 91 Lexus LS400 I just painted a light green with yellow pearl and loaded up with metal flake. I put a set of spinnig 20" wires on it but now my wheel wells scrub when I hit heavy bumps. I wanted to put a stereo in the trunk but until I can figure out how to raise it or stiffen the suspension I can't even ride people in the back.... I've seen LS400 with 20's before---can anyone help
