It seems everyone is guessing. Maybe I'll ask at PlanetSoarer, they seem to know more about our cars than we do!

Where did you find a new steering wheel? Or did you have one recovered? Let me know!
-
Does anyone know what this is for?
-
Wow, it looks great. Now just have the Drivers seat and console recovered and your interior will be perfect.

There is a black probe mounted inside the right hand side of my grill. I do not have an outside temperature gauge. Does anyone know what this is for? Is this an ambient tempurature probe for the ECU?

The only other option is to change the Torque Converter to a Stall Converter. This will let the rpm's come up before it engages. It will launch much harder.

Help Identifyng Aftermarket Brakes

They look to me to be Supra TT Calipers. BTW, your signature lists Supra Brake Calipers? Whats up with this? -
Supra Lip? Is this the same as the 1-1/2-2" lip spoiler on the early SC's? Is it the same or does it have a different look to it?

Double check that the Valet Lock has not been depressed. It is next to the Trunk switch and can only be unlocked with the ignition key. If this isn't it, you have a bad switch or a short.

We started a recent thread on Resetting The ECU. It seems that, over time, the ECU makes adjustments based on sensor readings. It seems that some of these adjustments become permanent. With the changes you are making to your intake, you may want to reset your ECU and see if there is an noticeable difference from what you have already noticed. The best I understand, resetting the ECU causes the ECU to relearn the air fuel mixture, the O2 sensors, etc. Give it a try and let us know.

Okay, you've suffered long enough! The lever is strictly for tilting the seat forward. If you are hearing a clicking sound when you actuate the tilt lever, then your motor is working, you have a problem with the motor drive system. You may need to remove the seat and determine if the gear drive for the motor is stripped. Can you sit in the seat and put pressure against the seat back as you try to tilt the seat backwards. This might get the motor off the stripped tooth that it may be hung on. Good Luck!

What brand Muffler was AWJ Polishing?

My 93 SC400 allows you to play with all the window, sunroof and radio functions after you turn the key off, until you open either door. Once a door is open, you can no longer operate any of these functions. I do not know which models allow you to operate any of these functions once the key is removed and either door is opened.

Yes, the SC300/400 has the Auto Lock Feature. If you unlock the car and do not open the door, in 30 seconds it will re-lock itself. I just tested it on my 93 SC400.

Armor All makes a Low Gloss product that is in a white bottle with a black label. I use it on my tires and other areas that are low gloss. I hate the glossy wet look you get with Armor All on tires.

Just found a new use for the Magic Eraser. I had some stubborn marks on the rearview mirrors. The passenger side had lightly hit something and left a dark mark along the outside edge. There were also numerous bug stains I could not get rid of. The magic eraser is much like, maybe, 5000 grit buffing pad. It is a very, very fine abrasive. It removed all the marks from my outside mirrors and they look brand new. I was very impressed. It has work very good for numerous surface marks on the paint. Understand that it will leave a dull finish that you will have to go back with a fine buffing compound and then re-wax. Good Luck!

The insurance company has to replace it with original equipment. I would get a Quote for all NEW replacement parts and then use the money to do a body kit and even a Carbon Fiber Hood. Because we all know the the price of oem parts will pay for the aftermarket goodies!

I'm curious if the ECU Log has anything to do with the ECU adjusting for such things as insufficient octane, O2 sensor problems, air fuel metering, etc. If the ECU senses any of these, does it adjust and stay adjusted for them?

What was the price for each muffler and what did you remove from your exhaust system other than replacing the mufflers. Did you adapt the DynaFlows to use the existing hangers and did you bolt them on as the originals or did you weld them in. Thanks,

While changing out my Climate Control Unit last night I disconnected the battery. After the installation I took the SC400 out for a test drive and noticed an improvement in performance. I don't know where, possible Planet Soarer, I read that someone had reset their ECU by disconnecting the battery and they had a noticeable improvement in performance. I didn't think anything about it at the time, until last night. There is a stretch of road just before the turn off to my house, there are no side streets, so periodically I turn onto this stretch and wind her out. The average top speed in this short stretch is approximately 80mph before I start braking to turn. Last night I had just hit 90mph when I started to brake. I thought that's odd, and then forgot about it. Then, today, after leaving work, there is a Stop sign that then merges onto another road to the left. Normally when I come out of there, the wheels will spin a little, the back end will kick out slightly and then it shifts up and stops spinning and grabs traction. What I noticed today is that with the same amount of throttle, the tires started to spin, the back end kicked out and then the tires started to squeal. The tires continued to spin even after it shifted and the back end stayed clossed up for about twice the distance than it normally does. I would like some of you 400 owners to try this as a test and see if this is noticeable to anyone else. Disconnect the battery for several minutes and then go out and drive normal for several miles and then take it to one of your test stretches, somewhere that you know how it performs everytime to go there and see if there is any difference in performance. Another thing that I noticed is that when I accelerate hard, as the rpm's climb, it sounds as if the exhaust note is out of balance. I would hear a "wah wah wah" sound. Like when you have two strings on a guitar out of tune or when a twin engine plane has to engines out of balance. After resetting the ECU this imbalance is gone. Report back what you experience.

The 1993 Climate Control Units were notorious for leaking/bleeding and fading to black. This has not been the case with other year models. But any model year 300 or 400 from 92-95 will work. The 95s went to an amber lighted display.

Good luck in your Search! Rust, Rust, what does rust and a Lexus have in common. I thought they were mutually exclusive. Lexus seems to be very well protected from rust. I don't know that I have ever seen a Lexus suffer from this Auto Cancer. Have you seen s problem with Lexus' showing signs of rust in Canada?

LLS, I'll say again, Too bad no one repairs these! Currently there is no one that can repair the LCD Bleed that is common with the SC Climate Control Unit. Burned our lights are repairable, but the LCD Bleed requires the replacement of the Liquid Crystal Display and currently, no one offers this for the SC Climate Control Unit. The closest I came to getting one repaired was when I contacted an individual that repairs these units for the LS model and he offered to sell me 100 LCD screens and I go into business to repair other forum users. About $8,000 for these units.

I have a 93 SC400 and have the dreaded LCD Bleed. I found one on Ebay from a 95 SC300. The LCD is amber instead of Green and I got both the Climate Control Unit and the Radio Head Unit. The 93s had green lights in both LCDs, so now I'm amber and it is very bright. Now I can see all the symbols. To bad no one repairs these, they repair the radios and they repair the LS units, but not the SC units.
