  1. Congrats and thanks! Congrats on the new car! Looks awesome. Love the HKS exhaust... I ordered in myself a month after I bought mine and I love it. Also, thanks for posting your pics, because you inspired me buy a set of the aluminum pedals and I just had them installed. I love them. Enjoy!
  2. As a follow up... I had the Lexus dealership install the pedals for me yesterday and they kick serious a**.
  3. Yes, I agree with you. The "Build your own" feature is somewhat confusing. Some options are region specific and depends on the zip code you enter. Anyway, here's a website provided by my credit union, it even gives you Dealer costs. http://nfcu.com/autocenter/webcarbook.html Also... check out www.edmunds.com for information. I always go there first whenever I'm looking at buying a car. As for the "build your own" feature... I agree it is confusing and a pain, but in their defense it is indicative of what is on the lot at your local dealership. (i.e. they don't stock IS's with the Luxury Package in Memphis area)
  4. Amen, brother! A luxury sports sedan has to RWD or AWD. Although the current TL is growing long in the tooth, I really like the looks of the TL and it has a lot standard equipment packed into a very competitive price. HOWEVER... I didn't even test-drive thing because it is FWD.
  5. Found OEM set on eBay for way less than what the dealer was asking. Now I just have to install the pedals...
  6. I am interested in adding aluminum pedals and doorsill scuff plates to my IS 350. I have contacted the dealer for a quote on the cost of the pedals and plates. However, I was interested if anyone knows about any aftermarket dealers that offer aftermarket or OEM pedals and scuff plates. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Jim
  7. This break dust question comes up a lot and it mistifies me. Break dust on the front wheels... especially performance oriented cars like ours is a given. I had a 2004 Corvette beforehand and had the same exact problem. It's not a defect... just a fact of life... like gravity. As for the dash noise... if it's a plastic flexing sound, I have the same sound. It comes from the plastic housing of the center vents in the dash. It is a slight noise and from what I have read it is unfortunately somewhat common. It is not enough on my to warrant having the dealership take apart my dash. That's the only "issue" I've found with my car... it's an amazing car.
  8. I just had the HKS exhaust installed by my Lexus dealership on Thursday. First off... it looks frickin' awesome! Second... I will admit the different exhaust note does take a bit to get used to, but it a great sound that doesn't sacrifice the quiet sound-level in normal driving. If you drive around under 2500 rpm's... the car sounds pretty much the same. But, if you get into it and the revs go above 2500 rpm's... you get a great aggressive but smooth low V-6 exhaust note. As for hp gains? I didn't buy it for additional hp... so I can't answer that question. I would guess between 5 and 10 hp. The exhaust is pricey, but it is definitely a great mod! And best of all... it's covered under the regulary warranty since it was purchased and installed by the dealership. Couldn't have said it better myself. I had mine installed about a month ago for the exact some reasons... better exhaust note and better looking tail pipes. I have also had the exact same experience with the exhaust note/interior noise. Under normal driving (i.e. under 2,500 rpms - cruising on the interstate) it does not increase the interior noise level at all. And, you gotta love the regular warranty coverage it's pretty great too!
  9. I have had the HKS exhaust installed on my IS 350. I ordered it through Lexus and had it installed. I did find out afterwards that Lexus doubles the price on the exhaust... but without a HKS dealer in Tennessee... I really didn't have a choice. But, as for the warranty... since I ordered it through Lexus and had the Lexus dealership install it... not only did it not void any part of my warranty... it is actually covered by the 4-year/50K warranty. (as long as I'm reading the fine print on the Lexus website correctly) I had it installed for the exhaust note and look of the exhaust pipes not the increase to hp. I absolutely love it.
  10. Yes... you definitely had the HKS aftermarket exhaust installed. Congrats! I bought my IS 350 stock and hated the muted exhaust note. So, I ordered the exhaust and had it installed by the dealership. It make a WORLD of difference and looks awesome (without being tacky and obviously moded) !!! Enjoy!
  11. My 0.02 worth... I have a '07 IS 350 and I have had the HKS cat-back exhaust you can order through Lexus installed about a month ago. I probably get about 5 to 10 more hp out of it, but I didn't get it for that. I got strickly for a better exhaust note. The car doesn't need more horespower... just slightly more communicative steering feel and that's not something you can change. I had a 2004 Corvette before I had my IS. Having a 350-hp was amazing and that car was blistering fast... but know what? According to Chevy, 0-60 was 4.9 sec with a 4-speed automatic... the IS 350? According to Lexus... 5.3 seconds. So, the IS is smoking fast without mods. And, I absolutely LOVE being underestimated by Mustang GT's that don't know what I have.
  12. I totally agree. No car is truly perfect. However, for $35K... it's a great car and the quality is there. You are going to have small exception no matter the car model. As for comparing them GM... give me a break! I had 2004 Corvette before my IS 350 and although I loved it... it had interior quality fit and finish problems since day one. The d*** thing leaked water on the drivers side for crying out loud. Don't even get me started on the lack of service from the Chevy dealers!
  13. 1) Definitely use premium gas (93 octane). It is suggested by Lexus. 2) I wouldn't worry about a break-in period. "Normal" aggresive driving is fine from day one. :) 3) I live in Memphis... so, I don't have to deal with snow that much. Sorry, can't be much help on what to do during the winter months. Congrats and enjoy it! It's a great car. I absolutely love mine.
