  1. I have a 20008 RX 350. I had two rattles. 1. I noticed when the sun visor is open on the moon roof there is a rattle. When I closed the visor the rattle went away. It took me awhile to figure this out. 2. I had put a few items in the cargo area where the spare tire is located. They were bouncing around causing a noise. I wrapped them up in a towel and problem solved. You may also want to look in this aarea as the spare tire may not be snugged down or the metal bar in this area could be loose .
  2. I just experienced this problem. I have a 2008 rx 350. I was playing a disc and half way thru track 10 it skipped then stopped playing. I went to disc 2 and no songs would play and error 3 came up. I shut off the system and turned it back on again and the error went away. When I tried yo get back to track 10 to seei f it was still skipping I could only advance to track 5 using the track advance button . When I tried to go past 5 it just bepped when I pressed the button. I then used the button on the steering wheel and was able to advance to track 10. The track played fine and no more error messages for now! Has anyone else had any issues using the track advance button. I had not played the Cd player for about 3 months. I wonder if this would impact it some way.
  3. Not all CD's have text embedded in them. If they do not they will not display the info you are looking for.
  4. Puzzling, very.... There now seems to be two aspects of the Toyota and Lexus FWD and F/AWD product line that customers appear to be uncomfortable with, some to the point of considering at least one of these aspects to be a design flaw bordering on being unsafe to drive. The aspect owners seemingly consider unsafe would be the 1-2 second transaxle downshift delay/hesitation in certain instances about which lots have already been posted. The latest complaint seems to involve the new firmware version which supports the newly implemented uphill/downhill shift pattern/schedule. I don't have any problem with the uphill aspects, it is rather nice to have the transaxle automatically downshift, and hold the downshifted gear for a prolonged period, if I have enter an area of inclined roadbed. But I'm not altogether sure I understand the logic behind how the firmware decides that I need, want, engine braking when trying to slow going downhill. It looks as if "daddy" has inadvertently encountered the downhill shift logic in a situation that would normally result in the upshift and delayed downshift situation. Strange. I have to wonder if the BA, Brake Assist, firmware is being "high-jacked" and now used to "trigger" the downhill shift, downshift, to "engage" engine compression braking. Brake assist is supposed to provide extra braking power, HEAVY brake application, if it senses a panic braking situation. I presume it "watches" the rate at which the driver moves from the gas pedal, say partial depression, to braking. How quickly you go from "cruise" to braking. That aspect I can understand and applaud. But how does the engine/transaxle ECU control firmware decide that I want engine compression braking for speed restraint going downhill...?? The best way I can descibe the downshifting is how it feels when I drove a standard. Whe I had a standard I always with downshift for example when coming to a red light and let the engine compression slow/brake the car before I used the brakes. The RX seems to do this on its own and I have become use to it .
  5. I had the same question. I went to my Lexus dealer , who is close buy, and asked if I brought my car in would they check tire pressures on all tires if light came on for no charge. They said yes. Just another option if your dealer is close and will do for no charge. Lexus should have set the spare up so you can inflate without lowering the tire.
  6. I have a 2008 rx350 with about 4500 miles. I notice when you are slowing down as when approaching a line of traffic there is what I call engine compression that feels like it is down shifting. This is similiar to a manual transmission when you down shift under similiar circumstances but with the Lexus it is not as noticable as with a manual. Does anyone know with these cars if that is how the transmission is set up. I have had no experience with a Lexus before.
  7. I recently went in for my first 5000 mile sercvce at a Lexus Dealership. . I was told the by the service consultant. They set the tire pressure at 34 psi as it gives a better ride. It would be good to know if they set the spare the same way. I asked about the tire warning light and at what psi it is set to activate. They said the factory set is 28 PSI? I thought I had read in the manual that it was more like a 5 to 7 pound difference. They did state they can set it at a different PSI if requested.
  8. I have an RX350 with a 6 cd changer. When you have all 6 discs loaded can you play a seventh cd or are you limited to the 6 in the player. I can find no information in the manual.
  9. I also have a 2008 RX350. When I exit my car after shuting the engine off the doors do not lock. However if I use the key fob to unlock the car and do not open a door in 60 seconds the car will lock. I found in the 08 manual page 5 the following. Security feature. If a door is not opened within approximately 60 seconds after the vehicle is unlocked, the anti-theft system automatically locks the vehicle again. I have never sat in the car for 60 seconds after turning if off and not opening a door. Maybe it will lock. It sounds like you had opened a door.
  10. I own a 2008 Rx350. I just noticed the other day under the dashboard there are two small ( about the size of an eraser on a pencil) amber lights. One under the drivers side and on under the passanger side both about in the middle of the undersection of the dashboard. You have to follow the light path to locate them. They provide ambient light in the floor are where your feet are. They come on when you open the car door(s) and go off when you close the doors. They also stay on when the headlights are on. When I was checking the lights out I noticed the the light under the passangers was secured into place by a plastic or metal clip. The one on the drivers side did not have this clip assembly. There was a white styrofoam like material around this light but no retaining clip. My question is does the drivers side suppose to have a clip asembly or is it designed without one. If anyone has this light set up please let me know. I want to save a long trip to the dealer for a minor question but if it is suppose to have this clip I can deal with it at my next sercvce interval.
  11. Kennemax I am still having a problem and have given up with the seat adjustments. I have the front incline at the lowest setting which I presume is level. My right leg now has constant discomfort from the back of my thigh down to my foot. It is like a tingling sensation. The funny thing is I have no issue with my left leg. I believe I have developed Sciatca from this seat but you would think it would also effect the left leg. I have a regular DR. visit this month and will discuss with the Dr. as to what may be going on. I have never had any issues with my leg before. I presume it is hitting the nerve in the right place. I drove a jeep for 25 years and never had any problems. I would guess the jeep seats are wider and longer. I spoke with my dealer who was very supportive but states he never had this complaint before. They also contacted Lexus and they claim there are no complaints about seat discomfort.? I notice your model year is 2007 and mine is a 2008 so it appears to be in more than one model year. Other than this issue the seats are fine. I like you can not afford to take a loss so early in the purchase and will just have to live with it untill a soultion is found. Does your wife have the same problem? If you find a solution please post it . My sympathy from CT.
  12. I recently purchased a 2008 rx350 with the premium plus package / luxury value edition. My question is what is suppose to be standard for the floor lighting. I have read the manual and on page 236. It states inside door handels ( if equiped ), scuff lighting ( if equiped ) and foot well lighting (if equiped). My car came with the scuff lightening but not the other two I mentioned. I can find no where on the Lexus site what is and is not included under the illuminated entry system. I would at least like to be able to install the foot well lighting. Does anyone know about these two options and can I do an after market install. Hard to believe a luxury car would not have all three as standard features.
  13. I'm 6', too, a little lighter, but honestly if I put the seat back all the way, I could barely touch the pedals! 'Just shows how proportions vary. Most performance driving schools say you should be able to touch the carpet behind the brake pedal in determining driving position, so you can safely operate brake and clutch. You have apparently adopted a different position or you have very long legs, but I'd say try moving forward and raising the back part of the seat so your head is nearer the ceiling, keeping the backrest fairly upright, and then lift the front portion of the seat to give you some support. Steering wheel should be in a position where, with arms extended, your wrist falls on the top of the rim. That's one school of thought, there are others. Just a suggestion, try it for a day. I have pretty bad sciatica problems, and extended leg driving, on cars where I had little choice, aggravates it. Thanks retired00. I have made some modifications as suggested with some improvement but I still experience pain/discomfort in the back of my thigh and right knee gets a little stiff. I have to tell you I have been driving for over 40 years in a lot of different cars and never had an isssue with car seat discomfort. I am not sure by raising the front part of the seat up further if it will give relief or cause more discomfort. I will just keep trying. This car is really a nice ride otherwise.
  14. 2008 RX 350 Does anyone else in the Club have issues with the comfort of the drivers seat. I am 6 feet tall and 195 pounds. I would consider this average. The seat back is fine. My problem is the seat itself. It seems short, lenght wise(assumption) and applies pressure to the back of my thigh. If I drive for an hour or more it is most noticable and when exiting the car I seem to have to get my right leg loosened up. I do not have the same issue with my left leg which is strange because I would think the problem would be with both legs. I have the seat all the way back and at its lowest position. This gives me comfortable leg and head space. The control for the front part of the seat to go up/down is also at its lowest position which I presume is level. I have tried several different positions but they just seems to confuse the issue and not resolve it. I quess this is the trouble with too many seat position choices. This is my first experience with Lexus so it may be I just need to get use to the seats?? I would appreciate any input.
  15. You can have all 4 windows and the sun roof open by holding down the unlock button on the remote. You can also have all these windows go up by inserting the key in the door lock and turning it to the left and holding the key in this position for a few seconds. This works. What I am hearing and can not confirm or replicate is just by bringing the key near the door lock it will make the windows go up without having to insert and turn the key. Has anyone out there heard of this or any other way to close all the windows at once besides what I described above? Gullible but Curious!
  16. I just started using my CD player and have a question on the Text display.I inserted 6 CDs . When I press Text I get CD number ,Track Number and elapsed time. When I push it again it is suppose to display CD Title and press text once more it is suppose to display Track name. The unit does not display the cd title or track name. The message it shows is no text. This happens on all 6 cd. Is this an issue with the player or the CDs. Has anyone else had this happen. Thanks Daddy Car is a 2008 RX 350
  17. Yes, Auto will default to having the compressor run. It controls temp better, and it dehumidifies. I believe the compressor will turn itself off at about 32 but I just punch the A/C button whenever I don't feel A/c is needed. Fortunately, it stays off until you reselect it or hit Auto again, even with car restarts. Most cars I've had recently operate this way. Regarding noise, although you don't describe it, there should be none but low fan sound. It could be something entered the system and is hitting the fan or some piece was improperly aligned at manufacture. Without a description, that's a guess. Take it to the dealer. Since you have an RXh some of the c-best options are set differently from the RX series. The A/C compressor is a HUGE load on the hybrid system so it comes from the factory with the c-best A/C mode set in the default condition. When you turn the ac mode off will warmer air come out the vents that more closly match the temp setting
  18. There are three c-best options of which you will likely have an interest. 1. an option exists to disable the operation of the A/C compressor indefinitely just by turning it off once. It will only run again in automatic mode if you turn it back on. 2. An option exists wherein the A/C can be unlinked from operating automatically, with no indication to you, in defrost/defog/demist mode. 3. An option exists that will prevent the system from automatically switching from heating, airflow primarily from footwell outlets, to cooling, dash airflow. Now only would cooling airflow be discomforting on a COLD winter day but in cooling mode no airflow goes to the windshield to keep it warmed and hopefully above dewpoint. Google for wwest and demist for even more information. Thanks everyone. Looks like it is operating normal and if I get too cool I can turn off the AC mode while still in automatic. I presume this will then let warm air enter the cabin and maintain defrosting if needed to the windshield in the winter time.
  19. Hello I am new to the forum. I recently purchases a 2008 RX350. I was a devoted Jeep owner( Cheerokee Limited) for 25 years,. Sorry about that! Therefore my only reference as to how systems work was my jeep which had many similiar options. The RX is great no more jeeps for me. Question: 1.I operate the climate control system in the automatic mode. I noticed when in this mode the AC Button lite goes on. The current temp in my area is about 40 degrees. Does the AC lite always remain on no matter what the internal temp of the car when in the Automatic mode? The jeep I owned would only lite up when the interior temp is hot like summer time . It would never turn on in the winter time. I also noticed a distinct sound from the fan or air coming out of the vents when the fan was at its lowest speed. When you turn the climate control off the cabin noise is reduced. Should I be getting this level of noise at the low fan speed. Again I never noticed in my jeep which is why it caught my attention. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks Daddy
