You could probably go a little longer.. 15,000 just to get you in more often and make more money if you ask me. I don't think you'll realize a difference by switching to a K&N filter, though it might be a little less restrictive than an oem air filter. The only way you would notice a difference is if you were to install a Cold Air Intake of some sort. An upside to the K&N, though, is they can be "recharged," or cleaned, for less than buying a new filter, so in the long run could actually save you money. Also these are simple to change yourself, so don't pay the dealership to do it.
