  1. I was wanting to know if anyone has any information or pics on how to remove the lower glovebox from a 2003 LS430.
  2. I have a 1993 ES300 that has about 240k miles on it and the coolant in the expansion tank started boiling. I was told it was a blown head gasket, but here are my reasons why I don't think it is: 1) The oil looks just like regular clean motor oil. There is not white or creamy color to it. 2) There is no oil, sludge or grey film in the coolant tank. It looks like green Penzoil coolant. 3) The tank only boils when the engine gets warmed up. I think that if it was a blown head gasket, it would blow exhaust out of the tank when the engine was first started. 4) There is no smoke that comes out of the tail pipe. It does drip some water, but I think that's pretty normal for any car. 5) When you rev up the engine, there is no noise or vibration that comes from the engine. I think that it's a stuck thermostat, but that's only a guess. I am open to any advise or suggestions anyone has. Thanks!
  3. I currently own 4 Lexi with the following mileage: 2003 LS430UL: 81,000 1999 LX470: 111,000 1997 ES300: 220,000 (I put 170,000 on this one) 1993 ES300: 245,000 Grand Total: 657,000 That's enough miles to get you to the moon and back and back for more.
  4. I have an excellent condition 1999 LX470 for sale. It's gold with tan interior and is in great shape. It's loaded with every option like Nakamichi sound, towing package and moonroof. Plus it has an added DVD system that you can listen to over the car's stereo system or plug in headphones for some peace and quiet & a remote start system. This SUV needs absolutely nothing except a new person or family to enjoy it. It has never been smoked in, and the interior is near perfect. I just replaced the floor mats with genuine Lexus floor mats so you won't be getting someone else's dirty worn out floor mats. The paint is shiny with no major scratchs on the body. It has Michelin Cross Terrain tires on it. It has seating for 8 with the rear 3rd row seats that can either fold up or can be removed very easily. The transmission shifts very smoothly, it drives straight, doesn't pull, doesn't smoke. This is a very nice SUV to drive. It has 111,000 miles on it, but looks like it has about half that amount. I will ship it almost anywhere in the world, including Russia and Asia, but you'll be responsible for ALL shipping expenses. I live in St. Louis, but under the right circumstances, I would be willing to deliver this car to the Kansas City area or the Dallas, TX area for free. I've got it priced at an average between KBB, Edmunds and NADA at $17,500. Please e-mail me or call me at (417) 489-6915. Thanks.
  5. Lexus05, Congrats on your new purchase! I thought that I would post a reply because I just bought an almost identical LS like you got only yesterday. I ended up getting the black & tan Ultra with 80k for only$22,500. It came from a private owner and I did have to fly from Springfield, MO to Columbus, OH to get it, but it was well worth it. I've got a few thousand miles before my big 90k, so I am curious what yours ends up costing and what all the dealership ends up replacing. Take care and post some pics soon.

  7. This might be a very isolated incident, but here's what I did to get my pads changed on my LX470: I went to autopartsplace.com and purchased brand new OEM Akebono pads for around $120. I then called my local mechanic and asked if he would install the pads that I bought. He charged me only $40 per axle to do the brake job, so it cost me around $200 for all 4 brakes. I know that everyone doesn't have the opportunity to have their local mechanic put on parts that he didn't buy, but Meineke did the exact same thing for me for my ES300. Hope this helps. PS. Nothing in it for me, but www.autopartsplace.com seems to have the absolute best prices for Lexus OEM parts.
